I spoke to three people, called two stores, was dealt with rudely, then left an email and someone named Chris called me back and the interaction wasn't any better. I simply wanted to know the price of a specific puppy, which they don't give out due to "store policy" (tho I note they do list prices on one or two online pups, so that's weird)... they give a heavy push for you to come in and meet the puppy before finding out what it costs. But I certainly am not willing to bring my family out to meet a dog that I don't know if I want or can afford... he asked me my budget (which is a sale tactic to qualify the customer) and I deliberately quoted low (3k) and he said, "don't come here if that's what you want to spend." Of course, that's not my actual budget, but damn, talk about alienating a potential customer... he was very condescending, arrogant and pushy. I was on the phone with this dude for 15 minutes before he could give me a price on a pup (and it wasn't the one I was asking about, but by now I just wanted off the phone). Overall, Chris was all output, little to no input. Just a lot of talk about how great they are, their big blue ribbon and so on... but none of it was what I wanted to know, which was how much a specific pup cost. Evidently the problems with this place lie with management, because every person I spoke to there was the same. They're a hard sell bunch, and they want you in the store, but if that's the case, why bother listing a freaking phone number, then? Why not ask questions and see what I'm looking for and try to help? I guess they're a big deal, but there's no way I would ever do business with someone who acts like a stockbroker or would I recommend anyone else to use this place of business.

Leave for 5 minutes and Petco calls me. Let me state we have been going for over 2 years with NO issues. The groomer says I have to return to get my dog they are not working on him because he growled. "It's not safe for groomers or the dog." I had to go back. Waited over 10 minutes to pick him up, nobody at the desk. I had to call the store for a manager so I could get the groomer to come out with My Dog. He was happy as can be. The groomer said they couldn't work on him and I should see a vet. I picked up my dog, touched his paws, back, butt with no reaction. Even had the groomer touch him. She said the last groomer that saw my dog was fired for being rough with the animals and maybe she was rough with my dog. No manager ever came over and the groomer said "sorry maybe comeback next week for a nail clipping to start over". NOT GOING to happen, having family over for thanksgiving and will have to do it myself. I'm so very disappointed. Petco traumatized my dog for grooming apparently and nobody told me about her being fired until today. And when my dog walked in, btw, he rolled onto his back, as he usually does, and she touched him all over while his tail wagged. Something seems odd here.

Where Genovese Drugs had fulfilled the needs of humans, Pet Supplies has fulfilled the needs of their pets. This pet store features aisles of dog, cat, and pets essentials, live fish, small animals, and reptiles, a grooming salon, and more. My Dad and step-mom have been here many times for the needs of Shane, the family labradoodle. On some of their visits, they have picked up Blue Buffalo and used the grooming salon to trim his fur. When my Dad and step-mom are away, Shane is uncomfortable around strangers. During the recent grooming session, Shane was acting up causing it to end early. Their groomers were professional and refused to charge my Dad and step-mom for their time. The first of my three visits here was with my dad to pick up Blue Baffalo for Shane. After this visit my Dad told me about the cute kittens up for adoption. This is what brought me here two more times. On my second visit the kittens were adopted. On my third visit here, when I walked inside then made a right and proceeded past the front registers, my heart melted when I saw the black kitten in the cage. It was so tempting for me to walk out of here adopting the kitten. Unfortunately, I live approximately 3,000 miles away. This is a pet friendly store where customers can walk around with their dog. I walked around here with my step-mom and Shane. Shane even befriended a feret up front. From the two times that stopped by here, I find it kind of neat that there is a superstore appearance at the same time there is a mom and pop vibe. The employees here were friendly. One of the women working in the back asked to say "hi" to Shane. The store is an enjoyable place to browse. I enjoyed looking at the kittens for adoption, the live fish, reptiles, and small animals. I also enjoyed watching the dog explore a store that was the equivalent to me exploring Toys R Us when I was a child. Seeing him look at the aisle of bones was like seeing me walk through an aisle of Hot Wheel cars during my childhood. As far as value, the price is most likely going to be higher than the chain discounter. However, there is the value of the Community having a mom and pop pets superstore where decisions are made locally instead of at some faraway corporate office. The mom and pop running Pets Supplies Plus Lake Ronkonkoma are obviously doing something right since they have been in business since 2010 and I am the latest of several Yelpers giving them Four Stars.

If you are reading this, your search for dog training stops here. This is the place you need and…read morethey will change your life! This sounds a little over the top BUT I'm not lying. I tell our trainers Katie and Nicole all of the time that they are life savers. We brought our puppy here at 1 years old - a small wild, energetic Jack Russell who knew every time I was on a video meeting to bark his head off and embarrass me EVERY TIME! Walks were out of the question since he would pull on the leash to the point he would choke himself... sitting on the deck was a nightmare in our own backyard because he would bark at the wind (yes, the wind), the leaves moving, the birds and obviously the neighbors. Does this sound familiar? I questioned my decision of getting a puppy and then I found Max K9. We did a 3 week Board & Train where I was super hesitant of dropping him off (because no one wants to leave their baby anywhere), but they were so good with sending video progress and pictures and including my husband and I in the process. I joke with everyone that I think they implanted a program into his brain! Lol! The transformation was unreal. We were instantly able to communicate with him and actually go on a walk.. outside in the real world. What a breath of fresh air, literally! Max K9 has given us the ability to live an active lifestyle and have our pup enjoy it with us. Hikes, traveling, morning walks, trips to the store, brewery visits, long car rides out of state... you name it. I would do it all over again if I had to without a question. So if you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope this helps you make your decision to having a better relationship with your pup and enjoying life with them every step of the way.

Stormie is a rescue who we adopted in 2019 and underwent 2 surgeries in 2021 due to bilateral CCL surgery. She was cooped up for an extended amount of time during recovery. We were unable to take her outside without her reacting to other dogs and sometimes even people. Stormie even gave us difficulty when we wanted to go for a short walk. It was so frustrating and difficult taking her out in public that we needed help. We have heard of Maximum K9 from many of our friends and even the great reviews I've seen on dog groups and online. I called to inquire about the types of training (group vs. individual) and it was clear that we needed to take private lessons. We signed up for a package of 6 lessons with Sherry that were one hour long for 6 consecutive weeks. Our first day, Sherry got to know about Stormie's behaviors - positive and negative, what we were having difficulty with and what our goals were. Sherry worked with us each week when training Stormie (and me) on how to modify or progress a skill. We learned how to heel, which we never were taught from another trainer elsewhere, and the importance of heel. We were given homework on what to practice from the training sessions to continue our work outside of the facility. Sherry helped Stormie become less dog reactive in a safe manner at Maximum K9. Stormie was slowly exposed to the board and train dogs in the facility that had various levels of size and temperament. Each week, Stormie learned how to follow her commands and not react to different dogs. With Sherry's consistent training, Stormie was able to heel with me in a circle with other dogs and sit next to them without any reaction at all. I cannot find the words to thank Sherry for helping Stormie and myself. I came into Maximum K9 with Stormie trying to pull my arm off and reacting to dogs in the lobby to now leaving with my arm back intact and her in a nice heel. I will refer all my dog lovers and friends to Maximum K9 and Sherry going forward! Thank you again!
