Things changed for us since my original review. My gluten free sister loves all the options she has there. We actually order quite often. 4 stars it is! My only criticism is the cheap quality of the takeout packaging. They use the flimsiest possible containers. Two delicious heavy meatballs ($9.50) and sauce are served in a very small lightweight Styrofoam box that oozes. I know all these takeout boxes are costly, but I think the dollar store sells better packaging. Come on! Your food is delicious. Charge a bit more and buy something worthy of you food. I thought about making it 3 stars because of takeout but the food is too good. I hope they fix this. read more

Ordered takeout. Mussels are just ok. Garlic salad was strange. Zero garlic whatsoever. It was a container of chopped up plain lettus. Some old pieces of lettus throughout so I had to pick through. It just tasted like lettuce. And the Cesar dressing was quite odd. It tastes like absolutely nothing. 4oz salmon added to salad. Very good salmon. They definitely messed up the salad order. I recently took my wife, kids and nephew here for lunch and came away with a good experience. Having never been to the old location where a super Wawa now stands, I cannot tell you which location is/was better, but I can tell you the side room provided ample seating and a nice ambiance. The girl who served us was very nice, great with kids and prompt on everything we asked for. The menu had a great mix of Italian staple dishes/seafood, mixed with classic pizza shop grub. My wife had been there before and recommended the garlic knots along with the House Special Seafood Pasta - Penne in a pink vodka sauce with shrimp and crab $24.50. Naturally I forgot to take a picture of it, but I can tell you it was delicious. I had the Homemade Crab Cakes - jumbo lump crab with tartar sauce. I picked penne vodka for my side $27.50. I found the cakes to be dry and overly breaded. The penne with vodka was very good as was my small side salad. My nephew had Chicken Parmigiana and chose penne for his side $18.50. He reported it to be a huge portion with several large breaded pieces of chicken. He enjoyed it, but said he's had better. My boys split a kids order of pasta with no complaints. The bread they put out was warm, fresh and didn't last long! I'd love to dive into their menu a bit more, there are a lot of namely their "Wood Burning Style Pizza", a burger "From the Charcoal Grill" and some of the specialty sandwiches. We celebrated our 40th Anniversary at Arosso (it seems that all our celebrations have been at Arosso for 20+ years). As usual, the food was amazing and the staff was great. Everyone had a hard time picking their entrée, all were delighted, all took lots home. Ages ranged from 6 to almost 70. We brought a quarter sheet cake and bubbly to make the celebration complete. We discovered Arosso vía Groupon and decided to check it out on a Friday evening. It's not too hard to find and while the parking lot has seen better days, there is plenty of it, so no issues there. We were able to snag the last booth! This made us feel very important. I appreciate that the server asked us if we wanted ice in our beverages, as I'm not an ice person and my girlfriend very much is! Nice touch. Our server was brand new but very nice and did just fine. We had a brief misunderstanding when I ordered espresso and got cappuccino, fortunately that issue was rectified right away! The menu is absolutely huge and many items on it sound delicious. One could visit daily for a month and not try everything! They even had a sign up about breakfast. As for the food itself...we started with the portobello mushroom appetizer. It has cheese and shrimp and...a portobello mushroom underneath all that. Very rich and of course it tasted good. I wish it had 2 portobellos within the dish rather than just 1, there was certainly enough room to accommodate. Oh, they do start you out in proper Italian fashion with bread. The difference is that it comes with a delicious garlic dipping sauce. It was addictive and the ramekin ended up completely empty! Bread wasn't bad either, soft inside and slightly crisp, it's almost like it's made for dipping in the garlic. Salads were average: mainly iceberg with some shredded carrots, a piece of tomato and cucumber. For mains we each had a ribeye cooked the monterosso way, which means smothered in a creamy Gorgonzola sauce and topped with mushroom and crab. I couldn't really taste the crab (I believe it's shredded meat on top?) but the shrimp were nice and big and and the steak was cooked nice and rare as ordered. Unfortunately as you can see, the veggies were overcooked. Not a big deal to me as I wasn't going to eat them. But I'd have been disappointed if I wanted them. My girlfriend asked for the Gorgonzola sauce on the side and this did not happen, it came smothered in sauce. However she doesn't like to send food back and she did eat half of her steak. Next time I'd request it on the side or perhaps try the plain ribeye. Ribeye is a wonderfully flavorful cut and the sauce does make it difficult to trim the fat when you're cutting. Also, this rich cuisine really begs for a cloth napkin, not paper. However extras were provided when requested. Cannoli and espresso were both very good, nice sweet filling with a fresh tasting shell. We left full and satisfied. While there were some areas of opportunity food and service-wise, it was a solid meal and a good value overall. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could and wouldn't rule out a return in the future. Former employee, food is good and kitchen staff/servers work hard the issue is with the owner specifically. Very verbally abusive environment. He pays under the table which means he pays us whenever he sees fit not weekly as was promised during hiring. When you bring this up to him he gets angry at us like we're the problem for asking for our pay. I've witnessed him stealing tips from the servers up front he'll hide the receipt in the stack of receipts and staple them together so that we're unable to access the receipt to see the tip amount. He is never there in the mornings which is difficult when vendors are dropping supplies off expecting payments but he's not in. Overall waiting weeks for pay was why I had to leave and the verbally abusive environment on top of that just made the job not worth it anymore read more

We were more than pleasantly surprised by Arosso and their new digs. We were greeted warmly by the owner and were invited to either sit in the casual front counter area or in the dining room. We chose the dining room which was warmly decorated, had plenty of tables with place settings and cloth napkins and had Italian music playing. Our first impression was that Arosso would not disappoint and they didn't. The service and the food were excellent. We started by sharing a side of meatballs. They were huge and all meat. The sauce was really delicious and very different in consistency and flavor from most Italian restaurants. I ordered two side dishes (broccoli rabe and grilled chicken) which they combined, plated and garnished like a dinner. My husband had the veal marsala with penne. Both meals came with side salads and garlc bread. The chicken and veal were very tender and flavorful. The marsala sauce was light and had lots of mushrooms. We definitely enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and will most certainly be back. read more

From best to worst. Was in a mood for a burger tonight so decided to go to Arosso as they typically have good burgers. Ordered medium rare burger with sautéed onions, mushrooms and Swiss. The burger came out without mushrooms, no big deal, so I waited a couple minutes for them to come out and added them to the burger. Then the slight annoyance turned to a major disappointment. Came here since they started an opportunity for young musicians to play on every other Saturday night! We mixed up the weekends for them to play but stayed for dinner. What a great experience! We started with mozzarella sticks that were homemade and simply delicious! Friends shared ziti and meatballs and although I'm a vegetarian the meatballs were all the rave! They were the largest meatballs I've seen in awhile. Bread was served with a garlic sauce that was amazing and my son got the chicken Parm and he said it was one of the best he's had. Grilled cheese was cooked perfectly and the waitress was very thoughtful with recommendations and taking excellent care of us overall. This place reminds you of an Italian diner as they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. Easily accessible to route 1 and probably the best deal when it comes to a wonderful meal. Im honestly really hurt, so I was working at arossos for almost a year. I can say I'm not the perfect employee but I'm a pretty good one. When Dave the owner had no employees except me I got both of my sisters to work there and I was working everyday of the week and weekends open to close plus I was going to school. He treats us females like we aren't worth nothing always screaming at us calling us names.he wouldn't let me serve table's because he said I'm not good enough, he wouldn't let do parties. All he let me do is answer phones fold napkins and clean. On Thursday I was supposed to work a party and he made a different server come in and do the party because I wasn't good enough and then after the party she left and he made me clean up the whole mess without giving me a penny for it. If he got mad at us or something didn't go as planned he would not pay for for that day. He didn't like the fact I dated different colored people which I don't know why he would care. But would always make comments about it. The cooks are always trying to touch the girls, hugs them, even after you tell them no. If we gave people more then 4 pieces of lettuce in a side salad he would yell and say he's not rich. The dishes don't get cleaned they just get put through a steamer. He told my sister her kids are better off without her over her needing a work shirt.if you forget to clean something he scream on the top of his lungs.it just overall is very bad on your mental health. It was takeout so did know till got home, the paper bag was very heavy so lot of sandwich abd it was, bur served on bed of french fries, not my favorite go with, but I am Italian. Arosso's porcetta sandwich (grilled pork cutlets, provolone, caramelized onions, and mushrooms), pressed pannini-style on excellent bread is one of the best sandwiches I have had dining out. Enjoyed one for lunch this afternoon. Service was fine! The dining room is restful, with stylish red and black as the dominant colors and earth tones on the decorations, with low lighting. There is a television on one side of the dining area tuned in to the Cooking Channel. Giada De Laurentis was on during my stay, whipping up Italian specialties. (I can watch her all day!) Arosso's also features a more casual pizza and sandwiches dining area on the left side of the double establishment. John and I have occasionally stopped in for single slices and have not been disappointed. There is a television in that area that is always tuned to an Italian station. They serve breakfast, too. However, when I stopped in early one weekday over the summer, I found out that breakfasts are now limited to weekends. I have had some great breakfasts there in years past, with Italian sausage and home fries that incorporated mozzarella cheese - something different and tasty. I see that other diners have not been as impressed with the food as I have...but perhaps they have never ordered the porcetta sandwich. It is the BOMB. It comes with pickle and chips, but salad can be substituted for an additional $2; the porcetta sandwich and salad combo is under $10. The food was well prepared and delicious and nicely beautifully plated and not the all too common just dump it in a tin experience . Obviously they have pride in what they do. This place is a hit or miss. Our recent visit was a definite miss. Their weekend-only breakfast menu is pricey ($11+ for an omelette, $8 for two eggs, potatoes and toast). If you add meat, that's an additional $4.75 and that was our mistake. We ordered a side of turkey sausage and spit it in our napkin because it was so gross. The waitress never asked if there was something wrong and never offered to take it off the check. I'm quite conflicted with this review as the service was friendly, but the food was a mixed bag of nuts. Let's start off with the location...Arosso sticks out like a sore thumb as a standalone restaurant in a shopping center with no particularly noteworthy stores & a deserted former PathMark. The parking lot is very rough around the edges, so watch your step. There's not much ambiance to the place, but it's not as bad as other reviews in the past make it seem. The meal started out with warm & delicious bread (4.5/5). Apparently, pasta dishes do not come with soup or salad, so you have to fork out another $6 or so for a salad, which I wouldn't ordinarily mind, but the Caesar salad (2.5/5) I ordered was is quite the small salad for the price and tasted average. The pasta with alfredo sauce (4.5/5) was light & flavorful just the way I like it without an overpowering cheesy flavor. The cheese pizza (2.5/5) looked much better than it tasted...living in NJ, I've got high standards for pizza & felt the pizza here was merely average. The chicken parmigiana (1.5/5) wasn't good at all...the sauce had no flavor & the chicken was oddly chewy in a bad way to the point I didn't want to finish it. The service was perfect except for the fact that no small plates were provided with the bread & butter, so that meant crumbs all over the table & no place to put your bread down or spread the butter. In fact, it seemed the restaurant was stingy in providing plates throughout the meal as only one plate was brought out with the pizza despite my party ordering a large pie along with the other meals. Proper service would have warranted plates for everyone in the party to have some of the pizza. Based on the overall experience, I'd be inclined to try another Italian food eatery next time I'm in the area. read more

On top of that most of my cheese was stuck to the lid of he box. These are rookie pizza place mistakes. I mean how long have those little plastic things been around to prevent that very thing.. or cooking a pizza correctly so the middle cooks as well. Literally just came from Arosso. This place came recommended to us a few years back. We tried it then and thought it was okay. Heard about their gluten free options so decided to try it again. We ordered our dinners and I chose Chicken Parmigiana and started with the crab bisque. The bisque arrived and was not only not hot, but not even warm! Chicken Parmigiana was good. My daughter ordered the gluten free ravioli. These came out about as cold as the crab bisque! We were told "that's because it's gluten free and has to be cooked differently". Two of of the four "hot" options (our entrees and soup) were cold. The waitress did offer to "heat them up" for us. I think the appliance that gets the most work in the kitchen is the microwave. Okay food, temperature was bad. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Stopped in to kill both time and hunger while waiting for an order to be ready at a nearby shop. From the outside, it seemed to be a nice looking facility for dinner. As I drove around I noticed an older edifice behind the main building which looked like a simple pizza parlor with a soft ice cream window. I ordered a slice of their Margarita Pizza and Regular to get a sampling of both their standard and specialty pies. The two plus a 12 oz. drink was under $6. Much less than I was used to paying farther north. Unfortunately, the slices were overly oily and I had to let the olive juice run off onto the nice ceramic plate. The tip of each slice folded when lifted, requiring my index finger to lift it up to get it into my mouth. Thus, it failed my first test of a good slice - the ability to stand firm without wilting. Next, the taste. Aside from being very hot, the sauce and cheese were nondescript. The bottom crust was not crisp despite the reheating, and the texture was not quite right. The second prong of the pizza slice test was also a fail. To compound the problem, I was not provided with utensils to use to hold and cut the slices; something required by the behavior of the soft wedges. This area of Fairless Hills has a multitude of Tomato Pie stores. I am surprised that Arosso's did not come close to competing with the best of them. read more

I wish I could give 2.5 stars. Went there the other night for dinner. The server was friendly and attentive. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich and my girlfriend got pasta with Alfredo sauce. Her pasta sauce peppers and bacon cooked with it. My sandwich came out ok, fresh bread but the tomato sauce was very bland. Her sauce on her pasta was so overpowering of bacon flavor she could not taste any other flavor. We got mozzarella sticks to go since she did not finish her pasta, got home and they we're the biggest I had ever seen but no flavor to them. They came with the flavorless tomato sauce too. Overall they give lots of food but it was all just ok, for an Italian place I expected more flavor and not bland food. read more
