If I could give 10+ stars I would. Dr. Arora and his staff are truly a rarity in today's medical industry. You can communicate with this office better than any other doctor's office I have ever dealt with over my past 50+ adult years. This is the only doctor's office I deal with who actually answers the phone when you call, rather than just being able to leave a voice message. When they call you back, and if you are not available, they extend the same courtesy and respect as to leave you a message including an answer to your question or request, rather than simply asking you to call them back. Most offices tell you they can't leave personal messages due to HIPPA rules, but Dr. Arora's office will communicate like any other business, which is exceptional to their industry. The office is filled with caring people who express that same spirit as Dr. Arora himself conveys. Most recently I experienced an emergency, and when I explained my urgency to one of his M.A.'s, she said she would contact him and to wait for his call, as he was in the ICU at that time. He called me back with 5 minutes, and after sharing with him he told me exactly what to do, and I was feeling better after taking the proper medication at that time. Dr Arora is not just a Pulmonologist, but also an Internist, as well as being the Chief doctor in charge of the ICU at our local hospital. I would not be surprised if he typically works about 120+ hours every week, and I believe he has not taken a vacation for over 6 years, while providing the most thorough follow-through of most doctors. Dr. Arora is the most intelligent, proficient diagnostician and doctor I have ever met. AND he has a sense of HUMOR! He is responsible for saving my life and providing me a 2nd chance to make myself the best man I can be. Dr. Arora is kind, attentive and very patient. My daughter was seriously ill with a lung condition for almost a month. Once Dr. Arora came on the case, he prescribed her the correct medication and took utmost care in making sure her biopsy samples were sent to the right place to obtain a meaningful diagnosis. I am not sure why Dr. Arora doesn't have 500 5 star reviews. We love Dr. Arora. He has been there for myself and my family for years. He is a phenomenally talented pulmonologist with a fantastic "bed side" manor. He listens to his patients and cares for them, as if they were his family. However, he could not do what he does, without the amazing support of his P.A.'s and his staff! Kelly is just awesome!! They do so much to support the patients, from making phone calls to fighting for prescriptions, scheduling and rescheduling appointments and so so much more!!!! They totally rock. Dr. Arora is great. He and PA Hirsh may have helped saved my mother's life with thorough history, physical, and diagnostics that another doctor flat out missed x 2 years. Bottom line is if you need serious and / or general patient care go see them. As a side note: I would hate to be an MD in this day and age of having to please grumpy patients who can complain via various social media platforms. What many patients fail to realize is that the flaws of the healthcare system (i.e. difficulty with insurance payments / EMR) is not the fault of a competent MD like Dr. Arora and his staff. Furthermore, I don't need to be coddled and / or pampered by my healthcare practitioner. I'd rather he or she be excellent at diagnosis and treatment. Fortunately, Dr. Arora and team demonstrates both high medical IQ and solid bedside manner. He even dictated his Assessment and Plan with my mother in the room so we could listen in medical terms to exactly what was going on inside of her and how to fix it. I've rarely seen an MD display such compassionate transparency and I've been in EMS since 1995. Kudos to him and PA Hirsh. Dr. Arora was my mother's doctor. She changed to him after being repeatedly misdiagnosed. Within a very short time, he diagnosed her properly. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was not good. However, Dr. Arora did everything possible over the last two years of her life, to restore her to optimal health. When her disease, metastatic breast cancer (age86), finally prevailed, Dr. Arora spent the last few months making sure the quality of her last bit of life, was excellent. I can not say enough in tribute to this doctor who worked long hours with my mother, her family and friends to give her such a marvelous quality of life, and death, in the face of such a dire illness. The doctor is attentive but his office staff is not. The first visit they asked for my co-pay. I told them I had met my deductible but, since they couldn't be bothered to confirm it, they insisted I pay. Same thing with second visit but this time I came with proof. First off - to 'Tony Y, Thousand Oaks, CA' ... It is OUR (the patient's) responsibility to know if a particular medical provider is covered by our insurance. When calling in to make your first appt, you should have asked ... and if they were not sure, you should have thanked them politely and stated you would contact your insurance company before further scheduling an appt. I feel this poor review is most unwarranted. In addition, I am a near-octogenarian and have found Dr. Arora to be the most competent, conscientious and 'patient-friendly' doctor I have ever had OR MET!
