I was out of ideas on what to eat and happened to drive past this spot--something about it made me do a U-turn and check it out. It's a small, family-owned restaurant, and I believe the mom is the one cooking in the kitchen, which instantly gave it a warm, homemade vibe. I ordered the mixed vegetable curry and asked for it to be spicy--not realizing that "spicy" here really means spicy! It had a bold kick, but the flavors were rich and satisfying. The naan was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect side to scoop up the curry. The rice was light and fluffy, complementing the dish beautifully. Service could be a bit more attentive--it took a while for the staff to take my order and again when I was ready to pay--but the food made up for it. If you're craving homestyle Indian food with authentic flavor, this place is worth the stop.

Paneer dish, paratha, veg raita, can't remember all delicious!

Not a vegetarian but this food makes me consider it! So many varied flavors and textures. The breads are excellent! Cute place with a cheerful tiki bar. Efficient friendly service, cash discount. I wish I lived closer!

Best Indian restaurant in the Burlington, VT area - we stop in for dinner, lunch, or chai whenever in the area. Yogi and Sarita are great hosts, and the restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere and nice decor - it's a real asset for the region. On the cold Vermont day, don't miss the chai with pakoras or paneer tikka. The papri chaat is great, and we always enjoy their garlic or cheese naan along with entrees like paneer makhani, saag, malai kofta, and more. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this Vegetarian & Vegan restaurant. The Tikki Chaat appetizer was my fave. Stellar service, yummy authentic chai, best naan I've ever had.. They deserve the all the great reviews they've received. The chef clearly is talented. Definitely going back. I think the food is as good as the best I've had (which is the award winning Lehja's in Richmond VA)

We had Mara for our server and you could tell she truly loves everything about the food there. For cocktails we ordered Mint and Honey, and Homa. The Mint and Honey had gin, lemon juice, honey, and labne. I never thought milk and lemon juice would mix, but it worked surprisingly well. The cocktails were definitely original but not something I would order seconds of. For mezze, we ordered half the menu. The lamb sausage crackers are kind of like ground lamb between two thin pitas that are then toasted. The local credited came with cucumber, radishes, and cherry tomatos. The muhammara was the star of the show, the punchy red people puree with curry, divine. The baba ganoush was also excellent but not much eggplant taste if you like that. The kale salad was lightly dressed with a creamy dressing, with crispy and very crunchy quinoa that ser it apart. The sugar snap peas were perfectly cooked. Seared halloumi was a crowd pleaser and must be ordered. The potato latkes were the surprising dark horse, crunch flavorful, but the jalapeño lahbne was amazing with it. The octopus had great flavors added and was very tender. There was a slightly fishy taste to it though. The lamejun is like pizza, on which the burrata was amazing. They brought a candle - lit baklava for dessert, a very sweet ending to our dinner. Love this food!

Rating: 4.3 Came to…read moretry this place for early dinner as this place had excellent reviews and we wanted to plan a dinner at church street market as we wanted to check the area as well. It's an upscale East Mediterranean restaurant focused on small plates and drink. Place was busy so we made a reservation but we ended getting there early and wasn't too busy so we were able to get tables as there were no option to reserve a table and only bar at the time. Parkings are available for street parkings only. We parked further out and walked over. Menu was unique as they mainly focus on small plates and drinks. They offer different kind of Mediterranean dips/bread and small plates. We got few things to try such as tahini hummus, home made pita, leb lebi, braised lamb simit bun, sweet harrisa chicken and greek style octopus with bread. First served was tahini hummus, pita bread and leb lebi. Home made pita bread was fresh, soft and chewy, hummus was creamy which paired very well. Lab lebi was crunchy spiced chick pea which was almost like a snack. I'm sure it pairs well with drinks but i don't drink so was a snack on its own. Next up was braised lamb simit bun. Single bun came with some braised lamb and pickled, mayo sauce and toasted bun. Flavorful lamb and nicely toasted bun. Greek style octopus with bread was interesting. It reminded me of ceviche with octopus but with olive oil. The harrisa chicken wing was good but not unique particularly. Overall food was good but definitely noticed portions were really small. The best thing was actually the home made pita. Service was good. Server was attentive. Overall it's a good restaurant but maybe for special occasions. Price is pretty high compared to the portion. Definitely get the home made pita bread and hummus but not sure if that alone will justify coming back.

The food was excellent. 3 of us chose steak and eggs. The steak was easily the start of the meal. So delicious I wished I ordered it. The home fries were also amazing. I had the Starry breakfast. Basically it was bacon and eggs. Over medium eggs were perfect. Bacon was good not great. My son ordered French toast and it was super sweet but delicious. The orange cream on it was especially good. It's that a friend treated me here because I did all the driving in and around the Green Mountains of Vermont to look at the scenery. Starry Night Cafe' is about fine dining. It's also about "new" cuisine, so that means creative culinary takes on what could be ordinary dishes. Sometimes I'll buy into the concept of "new" and sometimes I won't. Either way, the food here is not meant to be just like it is at all those other restaurants! The two chosen starters were a Caesar-like salad and a cheese plate. I liked my salad, but felt the cheese plate didn't have much to it, although the cheese was of high quality and good. The entrees selected were the mafaldine pasta and the salmon. My friend thought the salmon was good, and I thought my pasta was very good. Portions were about right for fine dining and, thankfully, not abysmally small. The mafaldine's presentation looked green as if it the sauce might be pesto, but it is not. It's a spinach pasta. Also, note that these are pronounced "mah-fahl-deen-eh" and not "mah-fahl-deen." A dessert was ordered and it featured berries and cream. I tried a little bit of it and it was delicious. The bread that arrived at the beginning of the meal was excellent. The serving staff seemed excited about the vaudouvan butter. This name doesn't mean anything to me. Should it? The menu mentioned that the butter was flavored with curry. I hesitated and was told that it was a French curry. I wondered how that might be different. Still, no matter how much or how little you use of it, the aftertaste lingers for too long. I did not like this nifty butter. Starry Night Cafe' looks inconspicuous from the parking lot. Once inside, there are several nice rooms in which to eat and you initially see a tastefully appointed bar. Each of the dining spaces has a slightly different personality. There are even outdoor spaces flanked by a large pond that would have worked well if it wasn't as humid as it was that day. Even the restrooms are decked out, right down to what might be oil paintings by local artists ... and the restrooms even smell good! The name of the restaurant does indeed refer to the work of Vincent Van Gogh. The service is excellent. They both explain the dishes you inquire about and answer other questions you might have. Being my usual self, I was observing and making assessments of the situation, such as the service and its style. It was funny in that it tried to be informal and even a little folksy, given that it's Vermont, when it is in fact fine dining. In reality, the real vibe was that the interaction was more formal than in many nicer restaurants, whether rural or urban. With that said, Starry Night is an expensive restaurant. I asked my friend about all the 5 star ratings. My friend said that, for Vermont, it is probably a 5 star event, but if it was in New York City and its environs, it would most likely fetch 4 stars. I'll go with that logic. The entree and the dessert were very tasty, but I did not like there being a polarizing spice in the butter, nor the small portion of the (other person's) cheese plate. I did appreciate the curated atmosphere and the professional service. Starry Night Cafe' made for a very interesting experience. I chose things from the menu that worked for me. I'm glad that I was taken here to eat, and I'm (humorously) stressing the words "taken here."

Tonight we had the halibut as our main with samples of other items and it left us put off and hangry by meal's end mainly because of the gaslighting. I'll explain. We started with the carrot and white bean hummus accompanied by cucumber and crispy focaccia and seed dukkah. This course was followed by a"secret" menu item, the gem salad which we've had previously and had hoped for something else. The third item interesting was also NOT on the daily menu... it was a greenbean dish with ??? because, well, the ingredients and dish didn't match the menu!. When asking about the discrepancy I was told the chef was being "whimsical" and decided to put this together (??!?!!??!) but it was similar the the stated menu item ( broccolini). When comparing the ingredients it didn't jive. I call B* frankly and think it is more of a bait and switch with lesser ingredients at a premium price. This is not the first time this has occurred and I will not be back because I feel it is dishonest. Yes, the food is excellent in taste, good on quality, tiny in portion size if i'm honest and I don't think it should be done. 2/5 or 40% of items served were " secret" items... yeah right. Anyhoo, the main did match the description -halibut- and the dessert(strawberry basil cremee) with extra added olive cake was as described too. The temperature inside can and has varied with each visit. I recommend eating inside if AC is working. Noted also the staff has been less attentive (water refills and adult beverage orders). Growing pains, maybe. Resting on laurels, perhaps.

The same large, beautiful windows are there, but the decor is warm, trendy, and modern. Our hostess immediately wished my husband and me happy anniversary and the bartender team Max and Woody were truly outstanding and made our celebration special. They are adept at making cocktails. We tried Blue Bingo and Inside Out. Both were perfectly balanced. The Blue Bingo with fresh blueberry puree, garnished with blueberry and mint was refreshing. The Inside Out was similar to an Old Fashioned. We selected 4 small plates, one large plate, and one side. For small plates, the striped bass collar was meaty and flavored with an herb sauce and punchy blistered cherry tomatoes. The little neck clams came in a broth that was worth sopping up with the grilled sourdough. It was similar to having mussels in a luscious wine butter sauce. I would have eaten like 12 of the clams if they let me but they alas only give you 6. My favorite was grilled Romano beans, slightly crunchy, fresh, and light, with burrata and fried green tomatoes. The breading on the tomatoes was perfectly light and crunchy. The burrata was delicious, and I would have preferred to have it over the barchetta, fresh ravioli like pastas that came with fennel and arugula. The barchetta was missing that creamy element. The served our pork schnitzel as a "splitzel" served cut in half on two plates. Again, it was perfectly crunchy and light. We ordered pomme puree (mashed potatoes) as a side too, creamy and delicious. They had a decent wine and beer selection. We lucked out with our chenin blanc selection, which paired well with everything we had. Eat here! The menu changes every day. We can't wait to come back.

I ordered the Something Fun cocktail, which was fruity, refreshing, and beautifully presented with blue salt speckled around the rim of the glass. Each menu is date-stamped, which I'm obsessed with--it's a great reminder of how fresh everything is. Vermont generally has a great local food scene, and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness behind the ingredients, presentation, and overall quality. Frankie's is a restaurant I'd highly recommend for groups, family dinners, date nights, or even corporate dinners. I'd love to come back and explore more of their wine selection. The staff is incredibly welcoming, happy to chat, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Expect to spend around $75 per person for a meal, a side or appetizer, and one drink.
