My Mom recently had her annual checkup at Dr. Arnold Pang's medical office. Dr. Pang is very professional and cares about his patients. He's very patient with my Mom. He listens very attentively. He makes sure my Mom gets the care she needs. Thank you Dr. Pang for listening to my Mom's concerns and meeting her needs. We appreciate you. Last minute weekend appointments are hard to come by here so make sure you call way in advance to make your appointments. My Mom couldn't get an appointment until 2 months later (knocking off 1 start for limited weekend availability). This medical office is conveniently located in Hacienda Heights. I found Dr. Pang and honestly I can say it is the best thing that has happened for me. I am a long-time diabetic patient that has struggled with my blood sugar. In the past, I have seen doctors that constantly scolded me for having uncontrolled diabetes; however, they never made an effort to change my medications. They kept me on the same metformin and glipizide medications even though I told them that they were not working for me. In short, I stopped seeing doctors and treated myself with medications from Mexico until the medications were no longer working for me. I searched for a doctor in my are and found Dr. Pang. He is one of the best PCP's I have ever been to; He has is kind, compassionate and has great bedside manner. It is a very small office and the wait times are at least one hour behind your scheduled appointment and they only take cash payments (which was not disclosed to me at all as a new patient) His front desk staff are completely unprofessional and to be frank really really really stupid. I have a follow up appointment scheduled for this month but ran out of this med two weeks prior. I called to ask for refills of this med and unfortunately talked around in circles with the receptionist for 10 or 15 min and kindly reminded her that this is not a med that should EVER be stopped cold turkey. She insisted I set-up an appointment to get a refill BUT I ALREADY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT! So now I am trying an herbal medication because I ran out and she was very rude when she finally muttered that she will pass on the message to the doctor. Thanks but no thanks. A very no frills office. At big box health care facilities, it takes at least 15 minutes to find a parking space. This is located in a small strip mall. First time here. In and out in about an hour with the referrals I needed. Dr. Pang listened to my concerns and made recommendations. I came here with the intention of giving him a try. Dr. Pang is not only attentive to his patients need, but also thorough in making sure he finds out all that he needs to know about your health. He's also very knowledgeable and will explain to you in depth if you have any questions. I have been seeing Dr pang on and off for at least 5 years now. He's very caring and takes all the time that's needed with patients. But his office is way understaffed with incompetent front desk employees and way overbooked. I wanna say they overbooked 200%! Don't even bother to do walk-ins. Unless you wanna spend forever and a day to be seen. Run far far away from this office! If anything came up and you wanna see him the day of is mission impossible, not even Tom cruise can help. I had an appointment at 1030 check-in at 1010 because I had new insurance for the year and wanted them to update my paperwork. I had a baby this year so I knew I had met my deductible and out of pocket maximum. The front desk clerk asked me to pay copay. So I went and explained and login to my insurance and showed them that I had met both. She went and asked for another lady over to double check. I think her name was Wendy.. both of them said I have to pay?! I had met my out of pocket MAXIMUM! I don't know how else to explain to them, so I was like how about you call my insurance to confirm. They then asked me to call and insist that I had 90% coinsurance. Well like I said I had met my out of pocket maximum. Maximum means that's the most I'll pay for the year. Anyway, Wendy then! And only then triple checked and said she missed the part where I had already paid and met my out of pocket maximum, which is what I had been saying all along. To end on a positive note, nurse was nice. It's sad to see this place went from 5 star to 3. But this place deserves every bit of its 3star rating because of these girls. Wonderful Doctor! My whole family goes to Dr. Pang. I've had other doctors who rush through appointments and some who are as rude to get upset and spew rude comments towards me when I'm a few minutes late, but not Dr. Pang. He is so patient and friendly towards his patients and really listens to their concerns. I am really confused by the negative reviews. My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years. Honestly Dr. Pang is one of the few physicians I can say that truly cares bout his patients and patients needs. The office is very basic, but extremely clean. Every time we visit we are in and out in a timely manner. Dr. Pang does an extremely thorough job during his exams. He takes his time to explain his findings and explains any treatment options that may be needed or recommended. The staff has always been helpful and courteous (especially Helen). Helen does a great job scheduling our appointments while accommodating our schedules and making sure we are able to see the doctor if the matter is urgent. She also always makes sure to call us back and follow up with us when needed. I don't know what more I could as for from my healthcare provider and staff. The only thing I can say that is a very minor inconvenience is that that any copay is cash only. Not a big deal, just have to remember to pull out cash before visits. read more

Called this office about 10 times in a 2-week period trying to get an appointment, but Jenny the front desk kept telling me they don't take my insurance, while my insurance company has confirmed Dr. Pang is in network. Jenny lied and told me the lady who verified insurance already checked and if I need to talk to her I have to wait for a week (WTF?), later that lady told me she never verified my insurance. Jenny's story changed several times, then told me repeatedly to find another doctor if I can't wait to get insurance verified (Dr. Pang should thank her for trying to reduce patients' wait time in his office). There are 6 staff in this office but nobody can verify patient's insurance properly. When I called another doctor's office the next day, their staff verified my insurance simultaneously when I was on phone and told me in 10 seconds their doctor was in network. This is the first time I read comments on Dr Pang on Yelp. I am surprised to read about the negative comments. My wife and I have been seeing Dr Pang for six or seven years and we have recommended all our relatives and friends to Dr Pang. Not only is he a good doctor, but he is a very caring doctor. He makes you comfortable to discuss your problems with him and he is always quick to give you a referral if needed unlike a lot of other doctors. I can understand about the waiting and the problems with the front desk. They went through some changes there and I think now they have corrected the problem. The WORST medical office. I was in a horrible car accident and prior to my accident I have NEVER had any problems with my back or me having a limp. The doctor had the nerve to say he can't say my injuries are due to the car accident and doesn't know if I've had scoliosis before. I had a MRI done that my lawyer ordered. I DO NOT have scoliosis and from the airbag on the brake pedal it has left me injured. Two weeks later they still have failed to submit my referral to an ORTHOPEDIC. LACK OF PATIENT CARE. When I asked who is in charge or submitting referrals the nurse said everyone, and the doctor orders them to do so, and said "they will get to it when they do". I DO NOT recommend anyone to see this provider or his staff. They just do NOT CARE. What goes around comes around. If you care about your health I recommend seeing another provider. Dr. Pang is absolutely wonderful. He has been my PCP for the last decade. His office isn't the nicest and his wait times can be a bit long at times but once he is in the room with you, you have his undivided attention. You can tell he listens and he is very conservative in his approach. He is not the doctor to prescribe narcotics and always proposed and encourages healthy alternatives to medication when possible. If I could add constructive criticism I would suggest an office facelift, work on reducing wait times when possible, and adding the ability to pay copays with card and/or check. I love Dr. Pang and his office staff! Everyone is so nice and friendly! Not sure why he has such a mediocre review but I recommended my sister here too and she liked him as well. She had a sure sore throat and they were able to squeeze her in last minute even though they were super busy!! Dr. Pang is a very compassionate doctor. He isn't jaded like the other physicians I've seen. He is a great listener and tries to help anyway he can. Terrible customer service. Receptionists are rude and don't even apologize when they made a mistake. Dr. Pang is nice but his prescriptions always give me bad side effects. Long waiting time, need to wait at least ONE hour even with Appointment. One time I had to go same day emergency with no appt had to wait almost 3 hours. When making appointment I wanted to go the earliest one (2 months in advance), they said I can't the earliest is at 10 when I went had to wait and I left the office at noon. So they schedule a follow up checkup SIX MONTH in advance finally gave me the first appt 9AM so gave them another chance but when I went this morning, staffs told me when you made appointment all appointment have been cancelled Dr. Pang on vacation. No apologies at all neither an apologetic or nice tone. I told them how come they give me no call, she said "we cancel everyone don't u see there is no patients here now. Don't know why you didn't get our message but we did call everyone, do you know we have 2 phone numbers?" A simple apology would have do it. But this is IT. Dr. Pang has been my Physician for about the past 5 years. I hardly ever go to the Dr because I can usually take care of most things with natural remedies. I don't like going to the Dr because in my experience it's a waste of time. Three visits down and Dr Pang has been extremely dismissive of me. I almost feel like he thinks I'm an attention seeking patient, when nothing could be further from the truth. I don't go unless it's absolutely necessary. Yesterday I went as a walk in because in the early am when I went to the restroom my urine was BROWN. After I woke up again I had a slight ache on my right side. Those signs point to kidneys. And I'm sorry but brown urine is not normal. Every suggestion in the book would say go see your physician. So I did. I had to wait because I didn't have an appointment which is totally fine, but then across the room they yell out. Why are you here again? Very unprofessional and embarrassing, so I shout back, because I think I might have a kidney infection? Geeeeez. They could have called me up. Then she hollers out again, okay you want to go pee? Sure, I reply. So I walk down the hill with a smirk of disbelief on my face and I see the dr pass me. He doesn't smile. So then I'm back in the waiting room and they call me up and say, the test shows there's no infection. Just blood in the urine. And I say well that's sounds like a big deal to me? She said, Dr says there's nothing he can do you just need to go to the urologist. (Which I already had a referral for and was awaiting tests). I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Kidney pain and blood in my urine and the Dr wouldn't even give me the courtesy of talking to me himself?! I was very upset and cried for like 45 Min because I thought when things like this happen you're suppose to go to the dr for help. But when the dr won't help and won't even see you, it just makes you feel like a piece of trash. Because of this I'm definitely switching Doctors. Amazing doctor who takes the time to care for his patients. I've had doctors who would ask you what's wrong, tell you what it is, prescribe the meds, then go straight to the next person. Dr. Pang however, takes his time with you and asks questions, considers future complications or problems, and is kind and patient throughout. The problem with this though, is that he has really long wait times and making an appointment can mean 2-3 weeks in the future. I've had semi-emergency situations where I have had to walk in and wait for 2 hours (no choice), but the staff was very understanding and looked after me by checking to see if I was okay every 10-15 minutes while I waited to be seen by the doctor. Understandably, the doctor takes his time with all patients and has to honor those who have made an appointment, but I always appreciate that they let me wait for a walk-in, too. read more

However, due to ill-mannered staff (especially Helen), lack of continuity of care, and poor business model, we have experienced many frustrating moments from this office. My mother made an appointment 3 months out because there was no availability closer. So, when she came to her appointment, she had an insurance issue. However, it was solved with an immediate phone call. The office did not allow my mom to see Dr. Pang nor attempted to schedule her a closer appointment. This is absolutely frustrating because she made the appointment to follow up on her medication because she ran out of refills on blood pressure medications, and the pharmacy could not get more refills from the doctor's office. So, now she's out of blood pressure medications and the next appointment they can give her is In December. It is incredibly dangerous for my mom to run out of blood pressure medications and stop it cold turkey. This increases her risk of heart attack or stroke. However, does this office care? no. This business model is the EXACT reason why our healthcare system is failing our people. Stay away from this office. read more

So hard to make appointments they're greedy and take on too many patients but worst of all I haven't been able to make appointments in a reasonable time and if I do it's at least 3-5 months in advance, then they use their greed against you and he refuses to refill my anti depressant medication and my birth control!!!! These have significant withdrawal side effects!! Essentially messing with my livelihood. So when I call to ask what's happening this receptionist starts yelling at me that "I haven't come in" and they won't refill my medication. I previously made an appointment and it's slated for September I made this appointment approx a month ago... so what else do you want? We need to have a right REASON AND INSURANCE in order to schedule appointment online even though i still got a confirmation email from their own website after i schedule an appointment with dr. Arnorld. So be causious about the scheduling TRICK they have! It is not as easy as it appears on the website when it comes to reality. If I could give this office no stars, I would. First off, the location is worst than something you find in an alley in downtown L.A. They are located next to a liquor store and the inside of the office is bland; they have no welcoming signs like a normal doctor's would have and the faces on the receptionists are grumpy as can be. I don't know why there are so many haters down there but I had the best experience with Dr. Pang - something I rarely say about doctors. 1. Make an appointment! Online or through the phone. I had to go to a doctor asap and he was the only one who had same day appointments available today. I didn't have to wait when I came in ON TIME. 2. Know WHY you are going in. I had several things going on and he seemed rushed (that's how a lot of Chinese people are) but answered all of my concerns thoroughly and with a smile. 3. Don't be afraid to ask questions. 4. And he's young.. Meaning he is good friends with technology (thank god). He writes all your symptoms on his laptop- quickly I might add. The main problem is that , the two Chinese reception that works there are terrible . Plus everytime I make an appointment they always say is fully booked and no openings . Had to make an appointment way in advance about 4 weeks to get an weekend appointment, and it was at 11 am. I arrived 10:50 and an hour later 11:55 I was still sitting in the waiting room lobby. Scheduling an appointment on their website was a breeze! I went on line to schedule an appt. on a thursday afternoon, and I scheduled a Saturday appointment @ 10am.. Received a follow up call as I'm a first time visitor Friday morning.. They made me feel very comfortable, which is a big thing for me.
