Zovko Bros is a family-owned business that performs state inspections and general repairs. In fact they keep my 1995 Geo Prism running beautifully despite my often indelicate and irresponsible treatment of the poor, dear thing. I've gone there for my inspections for the past several years and for some major and minor repair work as well. Each and every time I could not have been happier with the results. I LOVE these guys. They are super nice and respectful, not intimidating, fair, and fast. They do GREAT WORK and they will not charge you and arm and a leg to do it. Because they are located at the corner of 25th and Carson, you can kill time at the nearby South Side Works. So shop, eat, watch a movie - and one of the guys will call you on your cell when your car is ready. Write them a check and drive off into the sunset with your motor purrin'.

They wanted $1100 to fix all of that in order to pass the inspection. I told them to fail the inspection and took it to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic welded and fixed the exhaust (without replacing it) and checked the rotors (which were fine) and passed the state inspection and emissions test. He was able to do this all for $200. Do not go here. They will overprice you so much. They will exaggerate any issues that are on your car and try to make unnecessary notifications.

I rarely leave negative reviews because I respect business owners, but the extreme lack of…read moreprofessionalism here forced me to make an exception. I scheduled a state inspection a month in advance and took time off work to ensure my vehicle was ready for an upcoming road trip. When I arrived, the shop was closed with nothing but a note on the door. There was no text or call to give me a heads-up. To make matters worse, I had already purchased a Groupon voucher that is now non-refundable. If they had at least texted or called to let me know that plans had changed, I would have had ample time to reschedule the appointment with a different mechanic and not miss my road trip. These guys might be skilled at what they do, but their terrible communication and lack of respect for a customer's time made this one of my worst service experiences ever.

My new go to mechanic!…read more I had been going to Ventrice Auto for years but unfortunately the owner Rocky passed away and the service hasn't been the same since so I decided to give my local Mr Tire a try. I was not pleased with them either as they recommended work that wasn't needed and their prices where high for the work provided and not to mention, items were stolen out of my car while it was there so I desperately needed a new mechanic! My wife was referred to Kalven by a good family friend. Her car needed a state inspection and some brake work done. We made an appointment and dropped her car off. Kalven promised that her car would be done later that same day as she would need it for work the following day and it was! He showed us the condition of the old rotors and pads compared to the new ones. I was so impressed with his work that I decided to let him work on my car as well. I needed brakes as well and was told by Mr Tire that I needed a new wheel hub as I had a strong vibration when I would brake heavily. Kalven let me know that it was my brake caliper as it was rubbing against my rotor. He said he would try to fix it instead of just putting on a whole new caliper to try to save me some money. When's the last time a mechanic tried to save you some money? He was able to repair it without having to change out the brake caliper! I also had Kalven do some suspension work on my car as well. It now drives even better than the day I bought it! Kalven is a very smart man as he has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He has even given me a discount on work he has done multiple times! He is a honest and ethical mechanic and does not try to up sell you on work that you don't need! It was nice talking to him about his family and life while he finished up my paperwork. If your are in need of a good and honest mechanic I highly recommend him! Kalven and the guys at Pitt Stop will be the only ones working on my and my wife's cars from now on!

When they gave me the estimate I asked if I could bring in my own parts in because their prices were steep, but they didn't allow it.. I think they were mad because I didn't want to get the work done and was trying to save money, but they ended up sabotaging my hood latch, disconnecting the release cable from the hood latch mechanism, making it impossible to pop the hood. I ended up having to remove the grill and the latch mechanism completely to solve it myself. I thank them for giving me the opportunity to learn more about cars, which I did, but I was thoroughly pissed they messed with my stuff and charged me out the butt. I don't recommend this place.
