Calloway & Sons A/C & Heating - Unproperly adapted vent holes that aren't secure to the plenum that they installed

I had my HVAC system installed just about two years ago, with an extended warranty. I went with…read moreCalloway & Sons solely based on their positive Yelp reviews as my friends really didn't have anyone to recommend. I'm not going to lie: getting this system installed in a home we were living in at the time was not a pleasure and I won't ever go through it again. We had to get the duct work done which is a horrifying mess (there's no way around it) and to Calloway & Son's credit, they did suggest we go with a split system. Live and learn. We also thought we were getting a system with zones which didn't happen and it was never fully explained why, but in these old homes with impossibly high ceilings and two levels, your bills are going to be extremely high if you have one single unit. It is what it is. I certainly don't blame them for that! But on to the most important stuff: the system is pretty good. Again, old house, not the greatest insulation and taking all that into consideration we are comfortable 80% of the year. The other 20% of times are where things are a less than awesome: this year's blizzard and any extremely cold days mean for a very hot upstairs, requiring us to run the window AC unit. And on those blistering hot summer days, there's no way we're comfortable upstairs without the window unit. Again, my house... it's ancient. It wasn't made for these types of systems. Last summer, there was a day in August when the system stopped working on a Friday. I was more than a little disappointed when I was told they couldn't give us a service visit unit until Monday. If you live here, you know it is literally unbearable to not have AC on a summer day. Luckily the very kind lady on the phone worked with us and fit us in. I also now pay for insurance that ensures priority service. I was only able to afford to get the HVAC on the owner's side of my two family house done and that was about 25K. The financing was not great... if I hadn't paid it off ASAP, it would have been almost double that. So try to pay it all upfront if possible. At least the option is there if you need it.

They set up a plastic path through the house that saved the floors and walls from dirt or damage. The crew was very helpful in letting me set aside things of value while they cleared the attic. Concurrently, filtered ventilation fans have been running the whole time to keep dust at a minimum. There is also a young lady going room to room and treating all surfaces for mold. Once the attic is cleaned it will be sprayed for mold as will the AC system. A dehumidifier and UV system will be installed and then to attic sealed with open cell spray foam. The house will be tested for 'tightness' before and after foam application. So far, Ira and his crew have been very responsive and easy to work with. This job should take a total of two days and I will update accordingly. Update - dehumidifier installed and UV system in operation. crew is extremely professional and always clean up after themselves. The dehumidifier uncovered a problem pipe and this was dealt with by Ira's crew promptly. Plumber was out within the hour, problem identified, repaired and drywall repair started. I am very impressed with this team. Last day - Insulation team arrived at 0800 and set up equipment. They performed a pressure test on house measuring air coming into house via attic and other gaps. Total time to spray was about 4 hours. This is impressive given all the tight spaces that had to be reached. They ventilated the house to help remove odors and performed another leak test. Sunlight contractors sent a cleanup crew that spent 4 hours scraping up residual foam on the deck of attic. Really above and beyond! My parents were back in the house by 1600 with no odor to speak of. In a few days Ira will have someone come out and do an infrared survey looking for problem spots. I highly recommend Sunlight Contractors for all your insulation and mold removal needs. Ira and his team do great work and are excellent at communicating what is needed and the steps to make it happen.

This has been proven to be very taxing emotionally, financially, and physically. My Godsent partnership with Sunlight Contractors, LLC is a result of my personal frustration with the unreturned phone calls, missed appointments, improper inspections, and inflated estimates I experienced with over 20 other roofing contractors. After this hurricane, tarps were placed by someone else, but more were needed due to the continuous rains and high winds. Mr. Ira's crew quickly provided new ones and properly nailed down the existing ones. Because I presently reside in North Texas and own property in Louisiana transacting business during this Covid-19 pandemic has been mostly virtual and proven to be adventurous. Authorizing Sunlight Contractors, LLC with this job assignment has me fully persuaded that there are still companies out here that want their clients to be proud of their investment (home). I was able to select the shingles that I wanted and not pressured into selecting only what was currently in stock. After their meticulous inspection of my property, I was provided a contract that gives the job description so in depth that it lists how many boxes of nails that are needed. My every interaction with Sunlight Contractors, LLC specifically Ms. Jessica and Mr. Ira has been enlightening, educational, impressive, reassuring and downright outstanding!!!! Mr. Ira and Ms. Jessica have repeatedly quelled my fears with their superior, noteworthy dedication to deliver a 5 star customer satisfaction experience from the beginning to the end. They are very patient, detail-oriented and have answered my every question with a phone call if necessary rather than a text or email. If you're at the beginning of the process of hiring a roofing contractor, don't do what I did and waste time and money by "entertaining" inexperienced contractors that aren't qualified to inspect your property let alone assist you with the insurance claim submission process. With this company I feel like I have become a member of an "elite group" of people because I'm one of their clients. Come on and join me and hire SUNLIGHT CONTRACTORS, LLC. This is one choice in life you won't regret making!
