We had a great experience with Armored Waterproofing. First, Tara was helpful and professional in terms of scheduling and was able to get Gary out the following day. Gary is a lifesaver, or at least saved us significant $. We have a finished basement and had water damage to the guest bedroom. After having a restoration company dry everything, they couldn't pinpoint the source of the water damage. Gary was able to locate the exact location of where the water was entering the home down a window well. A simple caulking and better coverage over the window well did the trick. HONEST! Called for estimate/ showed up when said he would be there (the first time) - unlike 2 other companies. He investigated the problem, looking inside and outside the house, and told me that my problem was a leaking water heater (which was missed by myself(untrained in these matters), a general contractor I had look at it, and a salesman for a different waterproofing company- who recommended jackhammering up my basement to the tune of over $7000 - which would NOT have fixed my problem. He said that I needed a plumber instead of him. He was right! It was the water heater. It has been replaced and the problem was solved. He saved me thousands of dollars. We recently had a serious water backup in our basement and in the process of cleanup the company that was contracted said that we had a wet wall that needed waterproofing. We called Armored and Jay came out to look. He determined that the problem was not a wet wall but a leaking underground pipe. He located the pipe in our crawl space and we had a plumber replace the broken piece. Jay spent over an hour with us trying to locate the problem. He could have told us we had a wet wall which needed an expensive repair. Instead he saved us a lot of money and aggravation and didn't charge us anything for his time. What a pleasant surprise. I was concerned about mold growth in my basement and, even after getting a mold company to check, wanted to make sure I didn't move forward with their suggestions until I had a basement professional take a look at where water was coming from. Could not be more pleased with this small business! Jay came out and gave me a quote for getting a sump pump installed to deal with a leak coming into the basement down an old, no longer used (addition built on top of it) staircase. He gave me a fair quote for the work and we scheduled it. Jay confirmed the night before that his guys would be at my house the next morning and they showed up on time and courteously explained what work would be done and then laid down a bunch of tarps to protect our floors and keep the house clean as they brought in their equipment. After removing a step at the base of the old stairs, they discovered that we did not in fact need a sump pump as there was a existing, functioning drain that was there which was working fine. They came and got me and let me know that they did not need to install a sump pump and demonstrated this by pouring a five gallon bucket of water down the drain. They cleaned the area and told me they were not going to charge me for this work. After continually getting a flooded basement after rainstorms, I decided that it was time to get my basement waterproofed. I did some research on basement waterproofing contractors, and I came across Armored Basement Waterproofing. They had consistent high reviews from customers, and their website was very informative with pictures and detailed videos of their waterproofing process. I scheduled a time for a free quote. Jay came out and gave everything a thorough inspection and gave me a detailed explanation of the problem and what they would do to fix it. Jay was very good at explaining everything and did not pressure me at all. He gave me a very good price for the entire system and even agreed to encapsulate a separate crawlspace free of charge while the installation was being performed. I went ahead and signed the contract with Armored Basement Waterproofing for them to perform the work and scheduled to have the work done. The crew showed up promptly on time on the scheduled date. Everyone on the crew was very professional and nice. I enjoyed chatting with the guys. They did a fantastic job. They were very careful to keep everything in my basement clean. I'm admittedly a bit cynical when it comes to paying for house work to be done. I grew up in a contractor household so I prefer to do the work myself when possible instead of paying the high labor costs. Because of this, I looked at Armored Basement and other waterproofing service providers with a great deal of skepticism when researching who to go with for an interior perimeter french drain system. I took several estimates and no one felt quite right. I spoke with small operations and bigger operations like Mid-Atlantic. Mid-Atlantic had very high quotes and high-pressure sales which turned me off and the smaller operations didn't appeal to me either. Armored Basement had the best online reviews and now I know why. Chris' team was quick and efficient Jay was patient and explained the process thoroughly and covered any questions that I had. Their office manager Tara was responsive and very helpful. When the work was completed, my unfinished basement was pretty dusty and my belongings were a bit scattered but it was reasonable. There were a few surprises that I didn't think about like the wiring component of the sump pumps. If you don't have an outlet near your sump pump you'll need to hire a licensed electrician to do the wiring. I haven't been hit with any rain yet, but overall I'm happy with the service. Make sure to ask plenty of questions and keep the lines of communication open. Discuss ahead of time where you want things like discharge tubes and sumps placed and you will be a happy camper. Also, discuss what will need to be moved and when you can move it back. I recommend Armored Basement Waterproofing. I have a leak in my basement. I called a plumber first, and he said it was a slab leak. We found a crack in the floor with water in it when we tore up the carpet. So today I had Armored Basement out to give me an estimate on fixing the problem. He studied the leak, looked at the wall next to it, it was not an exterior wall, studied my sump, then found the place outdoors that was closest to my leak to see if there were any problems out there. He crawled under my front porch to find it. He came back in not convinced that it was a slab leak, asked me if he could open the wall next to it a bit. I had been told days earlier by another waterproofing company that my basement was in poor condition and I'd have to have their special waterproofing system installed, and the cost ...$18,000.
