It's very easy to get taken advantage of when you do not really know that area of expertise. Wow... Still cannot believe the type of service I recieved here. I honestly thought that only dealerships programmed key's until my friend told me about this place. I had originally taken my vehicle to the Nissan dealership which was extremely inconvienent for me for several reasons. The dealership didnt even have the key when I first called them and told me they could get it in two days. I told them on the phone I needed to get it programmed too so they said you could do that when you get here. When I got there two days later to pick up the key they told me they couldn't program it then because they didnt have a special tool available and told me to come back the next morning and that it would take two hours to do it. They also told me that it was going to cost $185.00 Now a days Im pretty sure most people dont like to wait two hours I mean that is just really inconvienet for me so I thought I would take another route. I went on Yelp and unfortuntely this place didnt pop up first, (maybe because Im in Rockville) and I called 3 other lock smiths. All 3 of the lock smiths didnt pick up the phone immediatley and Im not going to drop names here because I dont want to but out of the 3, 1 of them called me back 15 minutes later only to let me know that he did not program car keys but gave me one of his friends number who did. I then called his friend to get a quote of $120 which to me sounded much better then the stealership but this guy was mobile and his schedule was packed for the following two days. I then got on the phone with one of my friends and began to tell him the story and he urged me to check this place out. Armen Lock. I was hesistant at first because I thought the price was going to be about the same but something pushed me to call this place becuase my friend recommended it so highly I am so glad I did!!! The quote they gave me was a total of roughly $70 which included a cut key and programming. That was way less then half of what the dealership quoted me. He was very careful , wore a mask , and did all the leg work for me so I didn't have to come in . I have an older Honda Accord. I have had only one key for this car for a few years. The plastic housing on this key finally broke about a week ago so I needed to get new keys. LITERALLY, the best $53 dollars (with tax) I've ever spent in 2016! I had been procrastinating on getting my Mom's lexus car key fixed, and after countless hours of motherly nagging (the key still worked, but the shell was cracked, thus key was being kept together with duck tape). Went to start my 96 Jeep the other day and the car wouldn't start. It felt like the ignition cylinder was stripped or broken. I spoke with the local service station(my car was parked less than a 1/4 mile away) and I described the problem. They said it might be the ignition cylinder, but could be something else. They said I would need to get it towed to their shop(at least $100). If it was the cylinder they said it would cost around $300 to fix. Next I called Armen and explained the problem. He said it was most likely the ignition cylinder and they could come out and fix it. He said they were very busy but would be able to get my car at 8:00pm. . I told him we could wait until the next morning. He called me an hour later and said he could get to it by 5:30pm. His locksmith John showed up on time. John told me the problem was in fact the ignition cylinder and he should be able to fix it in an hour or less. John showed me the part that was broken and fixed the car in less than an hour. Finally a service company that does what they say they will do!!! Not only that, I was given an estimate of $185.00. I was charged $175. Now I would have been happy to the $185. I won't name any names, but somebody in my immediate family lost the second smart remote for our keyless ignition car. He Who Shall Not Be Named insisted he would find it and when he didn't, he insisted he would replace it. Years later, I was still a paranoid wife with one car key to our only family car. I refused to pay hundreds of dollars for one key at the dealer, so I ordered two replacements online (used, but wiped) and took them to the dealer (mistake). No surprise, they couldn't program them for me. So I strolled over to Armen Lock and waited a very reasonable 30 minutes for programming and walked away with two backup keys. Paranoid wife happy. Needed a 2014 Nissan Altima Intelligent Key with Remote start duplicated due to a lost key. Overall a good experience. The staff member took my existing Nissan Key and reprogrammed that one, and the new one, to match. Armen Lock had me in and out of the doors in 20 minutes. No appointment needed. The store is clean and offers water, coffee, and a computer to use while waiting. The cost was about $196 dollars including the intelligent key itself, cutting of the blade key, and programming costs. I also had a home key cut which was a nominal $3.50 or so. Although my overall experience was good, my issue is the difference of prices and the differing facts that I received from the two guys working there. The story: I called around noon and spoke to Armen who told me there was a *new* Nissan Intelligent Key in stock, and not to buy a used one online because there are usually issues/don't work. Armen gave me this breakdown: $120 for the intelligent key, $15 for cutting the blade key, and $79 for programming. I came in around 3 and talked to another gentleman on the staff. He told me the Nissan Intelligent Key they had was a refurbished one, but comes at a discounted price of $120. I asked how that could be possible if Armen had a new one for $120. He reassures me the key has to be $120 and goes to the back of the store to talk to Armen. He comes back to me, says the refurbished key will be $95. I say fine. He then tells me the price of the blade is $25 and the programming $79. I tell him that when I called, Armen told me the blade would be $15. He gets frustrated and says Armen is doing 5 things at once, but will give me the price provided since it was their mistake. Issue 1: I argued with the him that Armen told me not to buy used keys online, so why is he selling refurbished? He explained how the ones online tend not to be "unlocked" and are not returnable. The thing is, this store has to be able to "unlock" these keys either way. My existing key would have been in the "locked" state before they reprogrammed it to match the new key. Issue 2: When he offered me the Refurbished key, I asked to look at it. He stated its genuine OEM and said sure take a look. After purchasing, I was looking closer and noted that the blade key was an "Ilco" key inside, an American aftermarket brand. So I asked about it, and he said don't worry, we only purchase the Ilco blades because of the price difference. That's fine, but why didn't he mention that part of the key was aftermarket when I originally asked to take a look at the key? Issue 3: The pricing differences. Seemed like they were trying to make a buck off of me with that blade pricing. read more
