This review is for Arkie Rogers Septic. I live in North Yarmouth and experienced my pump alarm going off with some "stinky" flooding occurring in my basement, of course it was at night (aren't all plumbing problems at night when everyone is closed) plus, it was a Saturday night to boot. I called the next day on Sunday and left a message on their recorder, someone did called me back that day, who ever I spoke with told me that they would be able to come on Monday. Sure it was inconvenient for us to have to use the SuperMarket 2 miles away for our more urgent needs and we ate out, you don't know how much you miss running water or flushing until you don't have it! Anyway, the Arky guys came and pumped out the septic and replaced the filter on the pump, the young man said it was most likely caused by the gunked up filter, I asked if we should have the septic pumped more often, at that time we had lived here for 4 years, so I knew it had been pumped at the time of the sale. But he told me that what I really needed was the have the filter replaced every 6 months because of the configuration of the pipe from the basement to the septic, so I follow the instructions and keep a heathy septic and replace the filter every six months, they come automatically and do it. The problem is solved and the service and price is good. They did tell me that for just two people and keeping the septic healthy you should be able to go for several years without pumping the tank. read more

It seems they are using Joan Rodgers on Yelp and located at the same location 19 country lane Windham, Me. I did my review on google! I rated them 1 star on google. Do your research and believe the reviews that are 1 star I agree with those ratings! I am not using them again and going to another company for future needs. They don't even respond to low reviews they reply to high reviews I see. Arkie Rogers Septic Service has been maintaining four septic tanks for many years at a condo association I recently became treasure of. We recently had a lift pump burn out which he replaced charging $310 to pump the tank, $1,460 for installing the pump without having wire it as electrician did that while replacing the underground feed to the tank, leaving a control box we did not need. He left the old pump in the tank, never bothered to remove it, I did. He said he was going to come back with a back hoe and do it, doubtful. The tank is small and the old large pump displacing a gallon at least of water causing new pump run more than necessary. The real rub. He charged $250 for cleaning four filters that were absolutely not cleaned. I became suspicious when after obtaining copy septic design from Gray town office could find no evidence any vegetation was disturbed over the other three tanks - no evidence the covers had ben removed. So called another septic service to inspect the system. Upon their removing the covers one filter was totally blocked water level at bottom of cover about to back up into condos and another not reseated completely not filtering. The septic person with many years experience said he has never seen a filter like that completely blocked in less than nine months, that cleaning six months was over kill. Upon speaking with Mr. Rogers he said he has been cleaning the filters quarterly. I have retrieved from our accountant on thumb drive our invoices for last two yeas to go through to investigate the billing. read more

My septic alarm went on and I placed a call to this place. They didn't show until the next day and showed 4 hours after the stated time. They charged me $430 to pump out but didn't troubleshoot the problem to determine what went wrong even though I asked them to. No repair was ever done. They said this included emergency response charge (gotta be kidding) even though they didn't show up until the next afternoon and very late at that. When I spoke to the person who went to the house he stated he did not pull the pump but assumed it was bad and asked if I wanted them to order one ($2500 to replace). How would I know? It could be the float switch or circuit breaker. He didn't even know what size pump was so how will he know what to order. They didn't call to let me know they would be so late, what was going on, and didn't attempt a repair even though that was specifically discussed on the phone. I finally called them to find out they pumped it out only and left (again $430). I just called another company to find out what they charged for a pump out of my size tank - $200 bucks...more like it right? When I complained about the bill and lack of thoroughness the person who answered was arrogant and said "well it isn't overflowing now is it?" The 2nd person who took my credit card info thought this must all be pretty funny because she laughed. If you want good customer service then look elsewhere. My advice is to stay away from this place but, if you are determined to go here then ask up front about the charges and beware of their tactics which my neighbor warned me about . I didn't think it could be this bad. You may end up paying for multiple pump outs before they finally fix the problem.
