Drug Emporium is my most recent discovery. I just popped in here because I was over at Scott's Oyster Bar having lunch and had seen Drug Emporium. The name caught my attention because you don't see the word Emporium much anymore. It look like a drug store about the size of CVS or Walgreen from the outside but as soon as you walk in you realize that the place is huge like a large grocery store. I wonder if the location used to be a grocery store in fact. The first thing I noticed was hundreds of bottles of hair shampoo and conditioner in the first aisle I went in. I don't think I had ever seen so many choices in one store before. As I progressed through the aisles I saw that this was typical for every category, be it laundry soaps and dishwashing liquid, vitamins, essential oils, cosmetics, lotions and more. That being said, I started looking for some products that I know to be very hard to find and did not find most of them. I did happen onto a couple of items that I had already found previously and purchased or else I would have bought them in here. I just didn't need duplicates. Some of the hard to find items that I did not find were anything in the Wondercide brand, based in Austin, specializing in natural ingredient insect repellents for pets and people, Kirk's Castile lotion, hand soap, shampoo or conditioner which I have only found in one store ever and that's in the small town of Pendleton Indiana, Premier Protein bars which I was told by someone knowledgeable are only sold at Walmarts and Walgreens although I could have sworn I found them at a Meijer store in Michigan and bought some on sale. I don't know if Meijer is affiliated with Walmart or not but I didn't think so. I can't remember what the other items were offhand. They do carry some grocery items but a much smaller selection of them because that is not their specialty. I thought their pricing was very fair. They were less expensive on some items and higher-priced on others. I think I spent about $14 on the few items I bought. I'm traveling so I didn't need much. I spent much longer in here than I expected to because there was so much to look at it and I have to say it was an enjoyable trip. If I lived in town permanently I'm pretty sure I would be shopping in here.

After selecting gifts totaling around $50, I was surprised to learn that you do not offer gift wrapping. When I asked for tissue paper, I was shocked to learn that I could only have a SINGLE sheet OF TISSUE PAPER. I left your store too embarrassed to give your candles to anyone, much less my mother in law on Mother's Day. (Btw it's not like the sales clerk was too busy to wrap anything... I was one of 2 people in the store. It seemed the issue was a lack of supplies.) Don't you want your customers to proudly present a gift with your company's name on it? May I remind you that at a gift store, it's not unreasonable for customers to expect you to offer gift wrapping. I would have gladly paid extra for gift wrap. Why is this not a service you offer? I was greeted but I don't speak Spanish so I wasn't able to communicate. Found a nice belt and was looking at some cool hats. I like supporting small local businesses so I found a hat I liked. The belt was $45 and the hat was $32. I went to pay and he didn't give me the total which I expected from the language barrier. There wasn't a way to see the total and he was using a calculator. No big deal, I handed him my card. He put the receipt in the bag and I went on my way. When I got back to my hotel (I'm in Amarillo for work), I wanted to check out my new stuff and looked at the receipt. It was over $100!!! It wasn't an itemized receipt either, but he charged me $95 for the belt and the hat. I thought it might have been an honest mistake, but seemed odd to get to $95, it was like I was charged $50 for the hat. I found a couple of reviews on Google of similar issues. One guy caught it before paying. If you choose to shop at this store, but sure to check the total before handing over your card or cash.

I have been giong to the brow bar for over 2 years & have had mostly pleasant experiences & been happy with my brows. My most recent vist was terrible. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment due to leaving work late & traffic {no excuse, I know!} I am normally on time for my brow appointments so this was not my norm. When I walked in, I apologized for being so late. For the record, I would have been completely fine with rescheduling or waiting until they finished with someone else, etc. I was late & I am ok with that. I am not at all ok with the way I was treated due to being late. CeCe was very short with me & waxed my brows very abruptly. She did not speak to me at all {I'm a frequent customer & we always chat} She yanked the strips off & did not even get the stray hairs. When she handed me the mirror after she finished, I asked if she could clean up the strays that were left & she said "You said you didn't want them any thinner, so...." It normally takes 15-20 minutes for them to do my brows. From start to finish it was 7 minutes. After she finsihed, I said "If you needed me to reschedule because I was late, you should have just told me" she said, "Well, you got them waxed didn't you?" This is the worst I have ever been treated, especially a place that I am regular customer. I am a platinum member at ulta & spent $1100 last year alone at their store on brows, etc. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect to be treated respectfully. I have referred at least 8 people to the brow bar & have recently sent them to another salon due to my bad experience. In one appointment, my loyalty to the brow bar was completely ruined. I switched to another salon the very next day & will not be back. I'm extremely disappointed & hope that they will re-evaluate how they handle late arrivals & things of that nature in the future.
