    Corso Insurance Agency

My wife and began using an insurance agency over 20 years ago to insure our home in Medford, a…read morevacation home in Maine, our two cars, and an umbrella policy for the unexpected liability. A neighbor of ours worked for this agency, they were able to write insurance in Maine, and we got great service, well-written high-quality policies, and great pricing. Our neighbor moved to a different agency that could not write insurance in Maine, but for many years, we were happy with this company. In 2019 this company was purchased by a huge insurance company (the highest valuation of a private insurance brokerage). You would think that a company of this size would hire talented people and be able to offer great pricing from high quality carriers, but this definitely wasn't the case for us. Every year since 2019 we were less and less happy because we needed to ask them to get better quotes each year. They would send us renewals with huge increases, never check with other carriers, tell us the increases were "normal," and when pressed, find us better pricing. I work for a large healthcare provider and can get a group discount on insurance and had to use this as leverage several times. This year the increases we saw on our renewals from our old broker were the worst we have ever seen. All of our polices renew at the end of July, so I contacted our former broker on June 20th because she hadn't done anything about the increases. I went back and forth with her for three weeks and got nowhere. I mentioned my frustration to a close friend who lives in Winchester and owns two homes and about five multiple family income properties, and he told me that about a year ago he had moved all of his polices to Corso insurance (Dave Corso), saved a substantial amount of money, and obtained better policies. I contacted Dave to see if he could help us, and he absolutely did. Dave proved very quickly that he is extraordinarily good at what he does; enjoys it; is an excellent communicator; is an awesome teacher; is completely honest; that he is a gentleman, and a really nice guy. I told Dave right off the bat that I wasn't going to work with my former broker, and even as he found mistake after mistake in our coverage, he never said a bad word about them. Dave spent a tremendous amount of time going through our four policies line-by-line with us explaining what each endorsement was, why we did or didn't need it, and which level of coverage was appropriate for us. Dave even figured out that one of the ways our former broker "saved us money" (over $300) in 2022 was by dropping our earthquake coverage without telling us. Our home in Maine is very near recent earthquake activity. Our home Medford was built in 1900 and has horsehair plaster walls and ceilings, and even a small earthquake could have us living in a dust bowl, so it matters. A lot. Dave kept our umbrella policy with the same carrier, and the price stayed the same. Across the two home polices and the auto policy, Dave saved us $1,661 ($553/policy), and now we have better insurance, and we understand our policies! We are very grateful to Dave Corso, and we highly recommend Corso Insurance!

They're so personable and made me feel like they actually cared unlike some big name insurance companies. They found me an amazing rate I didn't think was possible and I was insured within 48 hours. Unfortunately, Steve McGraph's service was inadequate. I wrote and called to NOT renew my homeowners' insurance on multiple occasions. He did not consistently provide the basic professional service requested. Phone calls were not returned. Homeowners insurance NOT discontinued, and billing continued for unwanted homeowners insurance. I had been a loyal customer for many years. Now that I am not renewing my homeowner's insurance, I received a lack of responsiveness. He said I needed a LPR form. I contacted my new and current homeowner's insurance, and they know of no such form for non-renewal of homeowner's insurance. He should do his job and not renew/cancel my policy. It has been almost a month, and NO remedy except Homeowner's Insurance Company has sent letter which says failure to pay policy deposit is reason for cancellation NOT that I requested my policy NOT be renewed by notifying Steve McGraph many times both in writing and by phone.
