I was asked to pick out tile, fixtures, and cabinets from a list of vendors. I had initially selected grey cabinets, but called the vendor back to change my preference to white. I used white cabinet samples to compare to the countertops during selection. The work was done quickly at first. Demo took a couple days with the owner and one worker. When it came time to install the cabinets, they had ordered the grey color cabinets. When I called the vendor to confirm my color choice, she informed me that ARJ had never placed an order with them. The cabinets (and presumably the tile as well) must have been ordered from some alternate vendor. ARJ fought with me to insist that the grey cabinets were fine and looked good. I had to insist that they install the cabinets that I selected. Because the shower pan installation didn't account for the lip of the shower bench, the bench installation was done by cutting a notch out of my doorframe to accommodate. When I insisted this be corrected, the bench was cut down smaller and the notch was filled with silicone caulk (which shrunk upon drying). The mosaic tile used for the shower pan floor and on the walls was uneven and poorly cut and installed. ARJ blamed this on defective tiles from the manufacturer and insisted that this could not be avoided. No spacers were used on the mosaic tile resulting in uneven and jagged lines. Tiles were chipped and cracked during installation. There was a film left from the grout which has stained the tile floors. The wall tile and shower tile are still covered with a film. The light fixtures that were installed were not even centered above the sinks, and when I asked to have this corrected, ARJ suggested just moving the mirror over (even though this would also be off-center with the sink). I asked ARJ for an itemized invoice for the cost of materials numerous times and they never provided one. I was charged over $5,000 for materials (tile, cabinets, and countertops - fixtures were purchased personally). When confronted with the issues, ARJ argued that the work was fine and that the damage to the tiles was hardly noticeable, especially if you stood back from the walls. From reading reviews, I believe ARJ Remodeling likely does great work. However, I'll never get a chance to experience their work because of the way they handled canceling their appointment with me to give an estimate on an entire basement renovation. On Friday at 6:30 PM, I was able to line up an appointment for their estimator to arrive at our home the next day (Saturday) at 4 PM. I rearranged my day on Saturday to make sure I would be there when the estimator arrived. At 3:21, the estimator called my cell phone and left a message. He called again at 3:25. At 3:30, I received a text asking if I was home and then another text that said my appointment was canceled due to no response. During these 10-15 minutes, I was on a treadmill running, so I did not have my phone handy. Honestly, I could have been doing a lot of things and not had my cell phone handy... reading a book, working in the yard, playing games with my kids, etc. If I had been told by ARJ Remodeling that I would receive a phone call or text 30-45 minutes prior to the appointment and that if I did not respond, the appointment would be canceled, I would have made sure I had my cell phone handy. However, I was never told this important fact. So, when I got off the treadmill at 3:35 to make the 5-minute ride home to be home 15-20 minutes before the appointment, I picked up my phone and saw the text that my appointment had been canceled. I texted back expressing my disappointment and received a text that stated: "That's not good you did not answer even text at 3:30." Read that text again... notice it is my fault the appointment had been canceled. I was irritated, so I called and said: "Wow, that's a great way to lose business." I admit this was not the best way to start the conversation. At the same time, the young man who answered the phone immediately put the blame on me (as he did with the text). He explained, in a verbose manner, that it was my fault that I did not answer my phone and that his estimator didn't want to drive 30 minutes to an appointment if I wasn't going to be there. I mentioned we had just made the appointment a day earlier, that I keep my appointments, that I was never told I needed to answer a phone call before the appointment to confirm I was there, and that if I had been told this fact that I would have made sure I had my phone handy. The young man barely took a breath before he started explaining again that the problem was that I didn't answer my phone. This is when I decided to hang up. Never once did the person answering the phone say, "We are sorry we canceled your appointment" and there was no apology for any misunderstanding, even though I stated that I had rearranged my entire day to be available for this appointment. Here's the kicker... I'm getting 2-3 estimates, which is what most people likely do for a big project like this one, and ARJ was the company I was leaning towards hiring because their online reviews are strong. Obviously, after the way I was treated as a potential customer, I won't be doing business with them. With that said, my disappointment is not just with the way I was treated as a potential customer. I'm also disappointed that ARJ is out of the running for this project because, as stated in my first paragraph, it sounds like they do good work. One final word. My original project was the guest bathroom. Having used ARJ remodeling a couple of years ago (See review from a couple of years ago Master Bathroom - amazing job!), I reached out to them again - added bonus, I know and trust the quality of the work. Quote was reasonable, I would supply the materials. Total gutting of the bathroom - Tom suggested a walk-in shower. Stayed on budget, work completed in a couple of days. The bathroom looks great! During the bathroom remodel, I inquired about the kitchen. Tom gave me two quotes. Went with the 2nd quote, which would remove a wall and add an island. Wow! What a transformation!! Went with all of Tom's recommendation, which included additional cabinets/crown molding to complete the look, recessed lighting, new sink, counter tops, floors and changing/adding electrical outlets. Really opens up the place. Friends and family all remark on the craftmanship and how amazing it looks. Kitchen was completed on time and within budget. Tom and his team are very professional. Easy to work with, hard working, knowledgeable - went above and beyond. Very satisfied with all of my rooms. Will definitely call them again with my next remodel. read more

We hired ARJ after getting estimates from 3 other renovation companies. When I requested a quote they literally texted me back about 5 minutes later and set up a meeting for the next day. We had our master bathroom completely renovated and guest bathroom updated. Tom was helpful during the design process and telling us where can lights should be placed to enhance lighting in each room. The process works like this: you go to cabinet, tile and countertop places to pick what you like, you buy all your bathroom fixtures (faucets, valves, towel racks, lighting) and they order your cabinet/tile/countertop after telling you the pricing. You can always switch to another place if you're not comfortable with the companies they recommend, however we used the companies they recommended and the prices were great. The contractors were professional and asked us throughout the project about changes or preferences we had. Only Tom and 1 or 2 other men were working so there wasn't a lot of traffic in the home. They protected our carpets and took away all trash and debris each day. There were some small surprises and I ended up at Home Depot more than I'd like but it was a learning process for me. They finished the project faster than we expected. The subcontractor who did our frameless shower, added a privacy window and vanity mirror was easy to work with and despite a small delay in getting the shower I had a good experience. We really love both bathrooms especially the huge frameless shower. I think the work has added value to our home. Few minor issues: 1. Light fixture was broken by a contractor but they replaced it for us (and I got to pick the replacement). 2. Leaky pipe damaged downstairs ceiling, but they repaired leak and ceiling and painted the water spots/drywall. 3. Didn't realize they don't paint and had to hire painters after bathrooms were done. 4. I didn't push harder (meaning I didn't double back & ask) when I wanted a quote for LVT flooring instead of tile so I ended up with tile which looks great but is tougher to clean. I would certainly call on ARJ to renovate a project for me again without a doubt. read more

All you had to do was pick up your phone or reply to the request inquire that I was out of your service area sir, but you didn't and this review is here to STAY. It took him over one month to reply to my YELP review. My project was a complete remodel of a bathroom in a 2 bedroom/1 bath condo built in the 1950s. With only 1 bath, my son and fiancee, who live there would need to move out for a while. Since they would be on vacation the second week in July, that was my project timeline. The original contractor indicated 3 weeks, whIch I knew was excessive. This was a tiny 5' x 7' bathroom! I cut them loose after they stated 4 weeks would be required. Aziz with ARJ called me within 30 minutes of my initial inquiry. After reviewing the project, receiving a fair estimate, and being told the job could be completed within a week, and that work would coincide with same week it would be vacant, we went to contract. My son gave a set of keys to ARJ, the place was vacant, and I made 2 trips from out-or-town to oversee the workmanship. The bathroom required demo of 4 walls, floor, and celing back to the studs and beams. The subfloor was rotted and required all new boards, which, while suspect, was not included in contracted price, but was at a fair price. The plans included new bathrub, tiled shower walls with deco run and caddy, new window, tiled floors, vanity, paint, and a lighting fixture above the vanity. During rough-in, Tom suggested that adding 2 recessed can lights in celing would improve the room lighting. Wow! Great suggestion and add-on price again fair and reasonable. Bottom line here. ARJ Remodeling is excellent! They are prompt, honest, reliable, price fairly, and respectful of property and neighbors. read more

We started a project that could not be finished. ARJ responded quickly to our request and set up a time to come over and assess. They agreed to finish the tile project for a very reasonable price. From first phone call to completion of the project was 20 days. These guys are true craftsmen. Finishing touches were spectacular! Will surely do more work with them in the future. read more

We had the Master bath completely remodeled, and did flooring, vanity and toilet in second full bath as well as vanity in downstairs half bath. We put in new granite countertop in the kitchen with new large sink and backsplash. All was done professionally and at a fair price. We had a sunken living room floor raised to the level of the rest of the house, and had a laundry room created from space in the garage (see pictures below-note that the windows and a door in the living room had to be raised as well). We hired ARJ Remodeling for our hall bathroom, with an eye to also remodeling our master bath when budget allowed. First appointment was quickly set up and not only did Tom listen carefully to what we wanted, but added great suggestions of his own. We chose to order most of the material from vendors he used and benefited from his contractor's discount. In less than a week they completely gutted our 18 yr old tub/shower enclosure, vanity, linoleum floor and replaced with a beautiful walk-in tiled shower, new toilet, new vanity and tile floor, with all new fixtures, mirror & wall cabinet. Plus, they painted the walls! Since our fixtures didn't come in all together, they came back several times to install parts and add tile trim we decided on late (our first remodel). No complaints from Tom or his team ever. Additionally, their prices are very fair and we had estimates from two other companies that couldn't compete. Tips: 1) once you've set up your initial appointment, I would suggest communicating via email. Tom will get back to you within 24 hrs, most time by end of day of your email. 2) make sure you have all you need before they start; they work hard and finish quickly. I hired ARJ to do my kitchen and finish a room in my basement. I was very pleased with the work. Tom and his team were always on time and never left a mess. They helped make suggestions in the design and were even open to plan changes when my wife decided to move an entire door to another part of the room 1/2 way thru the project. They kept me up to date everyday on what was going to be accomplished for the day and they stayed on task. After the project was completed and they had been paid in full, Tom was still attentive to a few minor issues that came up a few weeks later. I was first hesitant which contractor to trust to get our kid's bathroom renovated. I contacted 3 contractors who offered me different prices but definetly higher than my budget. I was kinda desperate until I luckily came across ARJ's ad on facebook i contacted them. They listened carefully to me and were able to understand what i want and we ended up closing a deal within my budget. Tom was highly creative and professional. My bathroom turned out amazing the way I imagined it simply elegant and clean work at an affordable price. I didn't even feel any chemical smell left behind which is a gift when you have a 2 year old toddler at home :))..what else to ask for?!! I even didn't stop getting guests compliments!!
