Then within a week the unit stopped working. They came back, same technician, extremely rude and acted unprofessional as if I inconvenienced him. He looked at the unit and within a few minutes told me it was fixed. Next day, same problem, unit blowing at about half the capacity. I called and spoke with management, who agreed to send new technician. New person arrived and advised I needed a new belt, which he comped because of bad experience. Next day, still not working. Look at the video, does this look like quality work? The belt is so loose and out of balance, it's pathetic. Look at the calcium buildup, all occurred during this period of two weeks when Morehart was "working on solution". Do not use this company. They cost me 178$ and then another 225$ for a new company to fix their mistakes and clean out unit to get running optimally.

My husband and I reached out to Island Breeze after learning they supported the Phoenix Cat Cafe…read morewith a new HVAC system. A tech came out to our historical home in April to investigate an attic that was somehow cooler than the home. The tech found tape on our duct work and after taking the tape off, left us with a completely dismantled duct. We were left with the option to pay the company $900 for repairs or be left with no AC. We paid the company, had the repairs done, and were told we would need to repair the remainder of duct work soon. Fast forward 7 months and we asked for a tech to come out to repair the remaining duct work. The tech texted my husband, stating that the fix would be a simple seal and would be quick. He even offered to service our system while he was out, as we pay into Island Breeze's maintenance program. Come to find out, this service tech texted my husband these updates without yet checking out our attic. 30 minutes later, he's pressuring us to completely reduct the entire system and tells us he doesn't have time to service the system. We told him we would need to see a quote before agreeing to anything. We were promised a quote later that evening, but were only sent a $120 bill for his visit. When we called the office to follow up, they seemed confused and said they would need to send another tech out to investigate. A week later another tech comes to visit us. He's ready to start the reduct project. We had to clarify that we were still waiting on a quote. We also asked if there was any other solution, and we were finally given the option to just repair the second half of the ductwork (the option originally marketed to us from the first tech) Another week goes by before we call the office and finally get a quote, $3157 for the reduct without acknowledgement of the $900 we were charged earlier for forced repairs. We asked if we could have a quote for the repair and are still waiting. After several weeks of playing the run around game with Island Breeze, we still have no answers. Honestly, we should have known this company wasn't it after they forced us into a $900 repair in September.

Zed cleaned out our whole ac with his hose multiple times, removing tons of dust and muck. The before pictures he showed us were disgusting. He replaced old wiring that was crumbling. And apparently the last tech from a different company that changed our spark plugs left the spark plug box in the ac unit which could have caused a fire. I…read morehad an offer from a competitor for a free Summer tune-up on my A/C system, and while it has been running fine for many years now, a tune-up, whatever that is, would be beneficial. So the competitor came out, performed an inspection, and, surprise, surprise, found a bunch of things wrong with my system and began to press me for a commitment to a new system. I expressed my reluctance, stating it was running fine and I had no issues with it. He told me that the whole system was about to fail at any moment, and they were scheduled so busy in the Summer that I should take advantage of the offer to replace the system now vs later. I asked how much, and he quoted me his proposal. I gasped: $52,000.00 (more than I paid for my first two homes), so he said I could get by with a valued system at $36,000.00. I expressed skepticism and told him I would not spend that kind of money while my system was working. He then quoted me a system for $27,000.00, and I told him I would have to think about it. At that point, I called Hilco, who had performed work for me 18 years ago by replacing a bad unit, and Brian, one of the owners, came out, tested the system, verified a couple of things the first guy did and said he recommended a couple of minor fixes to keep things running smoothly and performed the work right there on the spot. He charged me $240.00 for replacing a couple of capacitors and said when it came time to replace systems to call him, and he would get it done for less than half the original quote from his competitor. Brian from Hilco explained that because I have solar, certain system features would not be a good return investment and anyone not taking that into consideration was "selling" me stuff I didn't need. I asked how long he thought my current system would last, and he was careful to say no one could know for sure, but he anticipated a couple more years easily. I appreciated an honest technician/company that had my interest at heart, not just someone selling bells and whistles I didn't need or afford. You can bet that when the system is to be replaced, I will call Hilco. Great experience with them. My highest rating.
