I don't gripe very easily. But man, this place is rough. First off, BADLY indeed of an update (picture below will sum it up). It's the most BROWN place I've ever been. Everything on site looks like a cheap early 90s aesthetic. I know they spent $25m on the spa, we did make it over there. I'm sure it's nice. BUT - I'll get right to the point on the rest. Pool is a mess. Felt like I was swimming at a buddies apartment building pool in 1997. Service is non existent, servers seem disgruntled. A female bartender, twice within a span on 24 hours, took a lot of delight in telling me 'we're not open yet' with a 'smile' on her face. 11am service on a Sat is not acceptable for guests that are paying $700+ to stay. Really need to start earlier than that during pool season. Rita's - just not good at all. The Pinot Noir by the glass is Meomi. If you know anything about wine, it's a joke. Shouldnt even be on the list. No other wine list was offered. Food, at best it's eh. Eaten here several times over the years and you forget how marginal it is because you get excited to come to a nice setting and then you quickly remember. This restaurant is on par with a nicer Applebees. Positives, bellmen and housekeeping have been great. Getting your hands on a cold bottle of water has been proven to be a challenge. Again I booked on points for Mothers Day but anyone paying $700+ a night should have cold bottled water at their disposal in Phoenix when it's 105. That's all I got for now, may update this during the stay if things get better or worse ‍

Before checking in, we ordered food from the restaurant and ate there. The young woman working there was not very friendly, which wasn't a great first impression. Check-in went smoothly, and our room was what we had paid for. However, after returning to the hotel around 2:30 a.m., we were abruptly awakened by the fire alarm. Being startled awake by a hotel fire alarm was terrifying. Once I realized what was happening, I left the room and tried to make my way downstairs, but there was confusion about where everyone was supposed to go. After standing outside and waiting, we were eventually told it was a false alarm caused by someone smoking and that we could return to our rooms. By then, we were completely awake and couldn't fall back asleep until around 5:30 a.m. That made for a rough start to the next day, especially since we had planned to spend the day exploring the area. The next morning, we went down for breakfast. The gentleman at the omelet station was unfriendly for no apparent reason, and the breakfast itself was mediocre at best. Before leaving for the day, I spoke with the front desk about the disruption caused by the fire alarm. I was essentially told that because another guest had caused the alarm, the hotel would not be offering any compensation or gesture of goodwill. While I understand they may not have been responsible for the guest's actions, the rest of us still experienced a major disruption to our stay. A little empathy or an effort to make things right would have gone a long way. I left feeling frustrated, exhausted, and disappointed. Between the middle-of-the-night fire alarm, the lack of concern from management afterward, and the unfriendly service in the restaurant and at breakfast, this was not an enjoyable stay. I will not be staying at this Embassy Suites again. I hope they take guest concerns more seriously and improve both their customer service and how they handle situations like this in the future.

The neighborhood is safe. The facilities are clean. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of the free breakfast in the morning, but I did go take a gander at the offerings. I saw scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cereals, juices, yogurt and pastries. I did see something that was made-to-order, but I didn't get that far to check out what was at that station. The staff that I interacted with was friendly. I only really talked to the lady at check in and the bartender. The hotel gives each guest a voucher for a free drink every night that you sleep there. Unfortunately, the elevator was also out of service. We received a notification about the water shutdown shortly after checking in. The bed and pillows provided were overly fluffy, and the noise upstairs was considerable. On the positive side, the building and lobby had a pleasing appearance, and the front desk staff were courteous.

The rooms are only one bedroom so it isn't ideal for bigger groups, but was perfect for a couple. They don't have parking spots near all the buildings so instead you park your car and they have golf carts to take you back and forth. It is an effective solution but a little time consuming especially if you have groceries or larger items to bring to your room each time. It also got a bit hard to navigate timing so we often would just walk to our room (heat or night not withstanding). I would say if you are hardy and able it works, but not great for those who have mobility issues. The rooms are bright and airy and clean. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We are used to other spots with a full kitchen and updated cabinets etc within the room, so this was a bit challenging (laundry is again down a walkway and not close to our room and no oven or hot plate in the room for any cooking). But if you are in town for a quick visit and will be eating out or golfing mostly then it is a nice spot. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant and it is a lovely spot for watching the golf course. We would most likely stay at another resort if back in town due to the lack of amenities in the room, but it was a pleasant stay and for a hotel like room with more space it was very pleasant.

The grounds were very well updated and landscaped, with many buildings surrounding the main facilities such as the spa and pool. The room was updated but had elements of the motel that occupied the grounds before it became a Kimpton. It was very much motel-ish like, but was restyled and updated tastefully. Its location is great and in a convenient, central part of Scottsdale, near a ton of restaurants, shopping, and local attractions. All the desert decor was stunning with an abundance of lobby seating and convenient dining options inside the hotel, including Hecho Libre's restaurant, a cafe with bakery items, and pool bar. They offer several pools as well as a small workout center, and hot tub. My only complaint was the bartender at the pool bar who was rude and condescending when I had questions about his menu recommendations. When I asked what his favorite dishes were, he replied, "This is just basic pool food" and he kept telling me the tacos were very small and insinuated not to get my hopes up. As a foodie who wanted to eat something delicious, he deterred me from ordering anything and I ended up walking away and eating elsewhere. Outside of him, everyone else I encountered was incredibly warm and welcoming. What I appreciated most about this property was the unique outdoor mindful spaces for relaxation and recovery-- just what I needed on a restorative solo stay. The grounds are well kept and so beautiful! I also felt very safe and secure staying here alone as a woman. I got a wonderful massage at the spa and although the spa itself is pretty small in comparison to other local spas, it felt perfect for me --especially since i was the only one using it that day and I mostly wanted to enjoy its outdoor amenities. They do not offer a large indoor lounge area so keep that in mind for larger groups. This was only my second time staying at a Kimpton Hotel and wow do they really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome! I appreciate how Kimpton offers so many extra convenience items for guests such as chargers, toiletries, curling irons, and even in room yoga mats. I also appreciated how the gentleman at the front desk remembered my name throughout my stay, which really made me feel welcome and like he cared about me having a top service experience. It's the small details that often matter most. I am already looking forward to my next staycation here! Thanks for a great experience.
