We stayed here when in town as part of a timeshare experience. The resort is laid out in a long line along the road on one side and golf course on the other. The rooms are only one bedroom so it isn't ideal for bigger groups, but was perfect for a couple. They don't have parking spots near all the buildings so instead you park your car and they have golf carts to take you back and forth. It is an effective solution but a little time consuming especially if you have groceries or larger items to bring to your room each time. It also got a bit hard to navigate timing so we often would just walk to our room (heat or night not withstanding). I would say if you are hardy and able it works, but not great for those who have mobility issues. The rooms are bright and airy and clean. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We are used to other spots with a full kitchen and updated cabinets etc within the room, so this was a bit challenging (laundry is again down a walkway and not close to our room and no oven or hot plate in the room for any cooking). But if you are in town for a quick visit and will be eating out or golfing mostly then it is a nice spot. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant and it is a lovely spot for watching the golf course. We would most likely stay at another resort if back in town due to the lack of amenities in the room, but it was a pleasant stay and for a hotel like room with more space it was very pleasant. read more

We came here for a staycation during a hockey tournament over Memorial Day weekend and stayed the week. Nice place. Looks newly painted. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The food in the restaurant was good. I think my only negatives, which aren't huge but that I prefer is.... The furniture in the living room was super uncomfortable. And the channel choices on the TV were not great and very old school actually. If you want to watch a movie, I suggest you bring your FireStick or Roku because they dont have the choices for Netflix or Prime. read more

Ranger was the worst experience of my life. He wasn't polite and was hurrying us the whole course although we had to wait every hole for the people ahead of us. It didn't feel like 18 holes because it felt like every hole we were being watched by the ranger and it made it a very uncomfortable experience. Worst course I've been at and would never recommend this and will never attended this course in my life. Old guy Ranger tried to give me tips to try to recover from his rudeness but didn't mean anything as he was rude the whole course. I'm very upset. read more

Just a little history before my review... my wife and I were married here, my wife's sister was married here, our good friends were also married here. That being said had a tee time at 12:04 and when checking in they stated to pick any golf cart which I did. After 2nd hole of 18 gps with yardages, pin locations shut off and every time I tried turning on it would shut back off. When to clubhouse after the round of golf, I expressed my concerns to the golf shop employee and requested a possible discount or credit for the round. He stated he could not do anything and to get in contact with their director of golf Preston Leonard who right off the bat was dismissive and was willing to discount 20% off my NEXT round which would equate to 12 dollars. I explained to him that when I a costumer pays for 18 holes riding and your equipment is not maintained or properly charged(which golf attendant stated gps was not charged) you sold a bill of goods that was not delivered. Our family and friends have spent thousands at this resort and it is sad to say I will never frequent this resort ever again due to the amoebic leadership and costumer service Preston Leonard showed. A true leader or representative would have said sorry and here's a free round on us which I wasn't even looking for, but dismissing a patron that has been coming to this resort for the past 20 years was the route Preston chose. Shit Show at the Orange Tree. Booked reservation 4 months in advance and requested ground floor unit as we were traveling with large bicycle box. After 12 hours travel time through airports from hell we arrived at 8pm for check-in. At check-in asked again about ground floor unit and the spoiled rotten SNOT running the front desk at that time barked at us saying "ONE MOMENT PLEASE". This SNOT proceeded to tell us he had no first floor units with king bed, only second floor. We get to 2nd floor room and find it has 2 doubles. To add, toilet paper rolls were down to 20% and no additional rolls left. Kitchen faucet broken and furniture in room was as comfortable as pool furniture. Felt like sitting on sandpaper. We stayed here before and had great experience which is why we returned. However, after dealing with this SNOT among other things we will not be returning. Not very happy with the Orange Tree Golf Club. Golfed here last week during the WM Open. Was the second to last group deepest into the course and left my wedge on Hole 13. There was only one 2some behind us. After finishing 14 and realizing I left it, I proceeded to drive back to grab it but one of the staff members told me I couldn't and escorted me back to the clubhouse. He said to call back in the morning to grab it. I come back the next morning to grab it and it is no where to be found. They so happened to "find" another 60deg Cleveland wedge with the same grip as mine although mine is a vokey. They told me that's the only one they found, but it so happened to be on the hole that I left mine on. They told me if anything popped up, they'd ship it out to me, but I proceeded to call back multiple times with updates, and still "nothing" turned up. What a coincidence! Not sure what kinda scheme these folks are running but if you play here and forget anything on accident, don't expect to get it back! Not pleased with my experience at all. read more

We played a round of golf here and enjoyed it very much. It's a rather flat, forgiving course so it was a much needed confidence booster for me. I played the orange/copper combo. Copper was a bit too long for me (I think it was closer to 5700yds) and orange was too short (I think 4700yds) so the combo was closer to 5100yds. Unfortunately, the orange tees were just in the middle of the fairway, no official tee box. As typical desert course, not much water. Sand was fairly placed. Fairways were open. I don't think I lost any balls which was a first for my Arizona golfing. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Nice round. read more

Horrible! Had a $100 gift card from a golf tournament and there was no expiration date on the card. Went to use it and because they switch gift card systems they would not honor it. Will never go back there to golf and make sure the people who put on the tournament are made aware, so they can rethink where their money is spent for future tournaments. Pleasantly surprised at this timeshare resort. Seating inside the unit was very comfortable - dining chairs, living room chairs and sofa bed were comfortable as well. Bed was really comfortable too. Like my own pillows. Nice linens which didn't pop off. Beautiful jacuzzi tub on one end of the bathroom and walk in shower and toilet on the other end. Needs a higher toilet. Nice makeup seating. Only major detriment was everything was very dark inside since all glass is covered. Always had to turn on overhead lights. Since it's on a golf course property I guess that's why. Kitchen had dishes, fridge and microwave which was fine. Didn't need a stove. Too hot for big meals anyway. Coffee maker didn't keep coffee hot after it is brewed. No ice maker just a plastic tray to make cubes. Resort undergoing renovation so loud in the morning and challenging for golf carts to get to the room and deliver us to the parking area. Not so many guests so staff were relatively prompt to pick us up. No WiFi in our building so had to use phones for everything. Gave us a small gift card to compensate. It was too hot to stay out by the pool which wasn't refreshing. Would go back off season. read more

We played at 7AM on a weekday in June and it was still slow. The course is pretty easy so it caters to occasional golfers and folks staying at the resort so I knew it wasn't going to be quick going in. But more importantly, the course itself is in really tough shape. I hadn't played there in 5 years and I was disappointed with how the course had changed. While it was never an immaculate layout, at least there was grass on the tees and fairways. There are now bare spots everywhere. We almost always had to move our golf balls to get a lie with some grass. And the sand traps were also awful. Most had a thin layer of sand while others were under construction. The greens are still okay though. We had a Daily Deal and unfortunately I still think we overpaid. Really disappointing. read more

We stayed here a few weeks back. Staff- they were amazing. Very personable the moment we checked in to departing. We had a snafu in the middle of the week, but they resolved quickly. Room- the resort itself is older and they make a very good attempt to keep up with times but it does show its age. The blinds in our room didn't work very well. And since the master bedroom looks straight out to the golf course so we constantly had to shut the master bedroom doors especially in the evening. I was a little nervous because our son slept out on the pull out. There are no USB outlets anywhere in the room so be prepared to bring a block to charge devices. We had trouble with the TV remotes in both the master and family room. You had to really keep working the volume and the channels for it to connect. The furniture was dated and was okay comfort. We did like the bracelet room key, especially when our hands were full. The grounds- it definitely showed its age. There are areas especially in the quad areas of the buildings that showed age you can tell where they try to do repairs overtime or the pavement was very uneven in areas as well. Parking- we were in the far buildings closest to the pool. If you're not at the resort to park during the earlier part of the evening be prepared to park in the bigger parking lot by registration. They do have a service that they will pick you up and bring you to your room via golf cart Services- They do serve Starbucks coffee, tea's, breakfast items in the back part of the lobby outside. The property is a bit dated, but the staff is really nice. No cleaning for the entire duration of your stay. Stayed here for nine days and it was very nice and comfortable. The suites are very large and each one has a very nice balcony. The grounds are well maintained and very clean. The bathroom is huge, his and her sinks as well as a soaking tub and a separate shower. The bedroom is in a separate room with French doors opening into the living room, kitchen area. The kitchen doesn't have a cooktop and could be improved to be bigger. They do supply electric skillet and electric cookware at your request. We did do a bit of cooking in the room. AC worked really well. The pool is really nice and very warm. Outdoor tables and lounge chairs to hangout. The golf course is really nice and well maintained. There are bbq grills in the common areas. The things I didn't like were that the gym is closed due to covid, no housekeeping service at all and we were there for a very long time. We did have to change our own sheets. Perhaps it was the wrong time of the Month but when we arrived, the golf course was not available(being reseeded and yes the manager, Derrick, was understanding and we could have played another course but I did not wish to travel, the room phone did not work and again Derrick was willing to change rooms but we liked the room and had already unpacked, the pool was not available as it was being refinished. Why were we not notified prior to our booking about these inconveniences? Derrick was great but I would have gone to another Wyndham in the Phoenix or Scottsdale area. These are the facilities I really want to be working. Again, the manager was understanding but I felt like I was in a construction zone not a resort given that they were refinishing and stripping the parking lot, too! The golf course is a very playable and in good shape. The golf shop staff members Nichole and Connor are very nice. Golf starters and rangers, especially Chuck and Doug are nice but Lou is a grump. Course has many dead trees that need to be removed and others that need be trimmed. Owner Shelby Futch needs to open his wallet and get this done as it harms the aesthetics of the course. I did notice the cart barn was somewhat shabby with range balls and trash laying around. It needs to be cleaned up and organized. Shop needs a renovation. Kind of dated and restrooms on the course need some attention. read more

It rained the day before. Very wet course, greens were soft, and lots of debris. Puddles everywhere, and to move balls more then a few occasions. It was cold, and I played horrible. With all of this said, none of this was because the lack of concern from the course. They had their maintenance people out early trying to get the course in shape, They have no control of the weather, and did their best. Even though I played lousy, it was golf and I still enjoyed it. Do not book a tee time unless you are flexible at moving to a different time. I booked 2 tee times at a specific time because our group was arriving from out of town. I get a call 5 days before our scheduled tee time (which I booked a month in advance) and the course said they doubled booked our time because of a junior tournament. And down we go.... I like to review the golf aspect of this resort as I live so close and at times have frequented regularly. Again, unfortunately my recent experience was less than positive based on the simple fact that some of the staff don't appear to be on the same page with a basic concept of "hours of operation." I called the pro shop a few days ago to confirm when the range would be open. I was told by the pro shop M-Sunday, last bucket sold at 5:30, with exception of Wednesday when it's 3:30 (odd but ok). So all is fine, the girl working pro shop was very nice and knew the info immediately. Come this Saturday, we show up just before 5 just to allow some time, and range dispenser is about to be closed by an employee. After brief discussion, very evident there is a disconnect somewhere between management and staff regarding hours. While most of the staff said range should sell balls until 5:30, the dispenser was still locked right at 5. It was briefly unlocked for a father and daughter at around 5:15 after he questioned the hours, but then was locked immediately after that sale. This should be very simple, post the hours in pro shop and at the range, and close the machine at stated hours. Not 30 minutes before or when employee feels like shutting it down. It's a bad look for the course. And finally, the range ball price gouging is out of control.... $14 for a medium bucket, $21/large, and god knows what for a jumbo if even available. My $21 large bucket was maybe 80 balls. Total ripoff for poor quality range balls. Couple that with poorly maintained grass and what do you get folks, a 1 star experience. Really hope they can turn it around as the course, range has a lot of potential. For the most part, all the staff is polite and courteous, just need to get "hours of operation" fixed. read more

Decided to stay here based on location, price and amenities. The resort is amazing. If you need to cook, they will bring you a skillet. If you like tea, they will bring you a tea kettle. If you forgot your toothbrush, they have kits with toothpaste. The rooms are very comfortable with sitting area, small kitchette with full fridge, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and large shower that will fit two. They don't have smart tvs, so no Netflix, Hulu, roku, etc and no streaming unless you bring your own chrome cast. They have a list of dvds that you can watch on the tv I'm sitting area. The only issue I had was that they have no elevators and carts. If they at least had a few carts for luggage it would make checking in much easier. I'm in good shape, so lugging a few items up 2 flights of stairs isn't too bad but due to limited parking right next to room, it can prove tiresome. I am really surprised to see such harsh reviews of Orange Tree Resort; this is hands down one of the best places I have ever stayed. First - the price - take a look at my photos and look at all we got for $109/night. There was free parking too. Non of that "you gotta pay for a room and you gotta pay for a spot for your car" stuff going on. Secondly, the service. The service was amazing!!!! From the front desk (who were so kind and gave me a list of ice cream shops that I needed to take my toddler), to the bell-hop, to the employees we would see on our walks throughout the day, everyone was so friendly. A few reviews here mention the kind-of pressure you get (this might be a time-share place?). We had zero of that. Third, the room was wonderful and the perfect size for our get-away (2 adults and a toddler). We were located in the 600 building and literally had the pool at our doorstep (not even a 20 second walk). On the other side of the pool was the complementary laundry room (2 washers, 2 dryers). Also, Orange Tree went as far as to provide 2 packets of laundry detergent for our stay. It was a real help for us to be able to wash our dirty laundry before continuing on our trip. The laundry room was open from 9-7 daily, however my laundry ran past 7PM and I was able to key card in without a problem. But, back to the room. I seriously LOVED this room. First of all, I liked the decor, it was clean, fresh. Nothing to flashy, but also nothing to basic. I also really liked the layout of the room. It opened into a mudroom where you could put your shoes and then a quick right took you into the living area with a couch (fold-out bed), 2 chairs, a coffee table, a dining room table (4 seats), and a small kitchen area (everything besides a stove, however they said they had portable electric stove-tops if requested). The kitchen also came stocked with mixing bowls, cutting boards, cutlery, glasses (wine and soda/whiskey glasses), a coffee maker, a fullsize fridge, a microwave, plates, and bowls. The sink had a small bottle of washing up liquid and they also provided coffee, tea, a packet of instant lemonade, and a bag of popcorn. The TV was a little on the smaller side, but it had plenty of channels. Also, the front desk provided a list of complementary movies that they had available - you could get up to 2 a night. The movies were a good mix of action, comedy, and kids (they had at least 10 movies my kid would love). To the right of the living area was the bedroom area, with a very comfy bed. Once in the bedroom with the door closed we had sufficient privacy. The bathroom area was large with a separate shower and toilet, then a very large vanity (even for all my makeup, I was impressed), and a spa/jet tub (heavenly!!!!). Plenty of face/body soap as well as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash was provided. The closet area came with a large area to place our suitcases and hang clothes comfortably out of the way. There were also way more draws than we needed and an ironing board and iron for our convenience. There were extra sheets provided for the fold-out couch, and so many towels that in 3 days 3 of us never had to worry about running out of clean towels. Also four additional towels were also provided specifically for the pool (but don't lose those or you will incur a $25/each fee). The patio was wonderfully shaded and had views of the golf-course. It wasn't a 100 % private patio (your neighboring room was separated by a maybe 5 foot wall and then an iron gate), but seriously - how some of the previous Yelpers describe the patio/balcony is ridiculous. You clearly have your own comfortable, separated, defined space. If I had to list negatives about OTR - and this is like, if you're holding me down and forcing me to think of something negative it would be that the water pressure for the shower definitely could have been better - but I mean this is if you're really forcing me to say something negative. The shower was large and spacious, and could easily fit more than one person - if you're into that sort of thing. The parking was also a short walk away from the 600 building - however with a simple phone call the staff was more than happy to send someone along in a golf cart to pick you up and drive you wherever you needed. They had lovely well kept grounds and I didn't see one spec of random trash for my stay. They had a little library (take a book leave a book), I believe it was between buildings 4 and 5. The pool had plenty of shaded seating area as well as sun loungers, on-site restrooms, snack vending machines, and complementary sun screen for when you decided that you were going to be there all day and not move. The pool had 2 lap lanes and then segwayed into a large "free play" area. Also, the hot tub could easily/comfortably seat 6. During the current climate I felt comfortable with the Covid related precautions that OTR was taking. I love this place, I want to go back, you need to go. read more

Found this gem through AAA. Although an older building with older furniture, suite was immaculate and comfortable. Has all amenities except a stove (which I found odd) but since I only stayed a couple of days it wasn't a deal breaker. They do have bbq grills throughout the resort. Employees are very friendly and service is excellent. Parking is plentiful but a long walk from most of the buildings (complimentary golf shuttling is available). Pool was clean and very nice, complimentary sunscreen available. Laundry facility is available and machines are free as well as detergent; however, machines are in bad shape and only 1 working washer and dryer. Overall nice stay. read more

Such a beautiful golf course! Look for their Deals and spend a great day on a course that's fun! Wide fairways, big old trees but not enough to be difficult, in good shape and finishes up near their outdoor patio. Always beautifully landscaped and surrounded by flowers, the patio is a perfect place for lunch. The John Jacobs Golf School is also there, making for a fun multi-day stay in the resort. Golfed several times and enjoyed the flat course with generous fairways. The starters were very helpful and friendly. We got chased off course by lightning early in week, and received a rain check. Unfortunately, using the rain check turned out to be a big hassle. I tried to find a solution with pro shop without success. Very disappointing. Overall, a lot of good. We play Orange Tree regularly because it's close to home and I generally like the layout. Because of that, I've been playing it regularly for over 20 years now. Today might have been the last straw with this place. Tee boxes are rock hard. The greens are in VERY poor shape. There is absolutely no relationship between the speed of the practice green at the clubhouse and the greens on the course. Way different. The greens have been horrible for several years now, and somehow the greenskeeping staff can not figure out how to fix the greens. The greens are without a question, the worst of any course in the area. In fact, on two of the holes, Hole 5 and Hole 16, the greens are utterly unplayable. See the attached recent Aerial Photos as evidence. It's much worse in person. There are several rotten, sand filled craters all over these greens, making putting over them absolutely impossible to play legitimately. This course has recently spent money on new golf carts and promoting their bar, but they have utterly failed in their ability to maintain course conditions, especially the greens. As a result, they are charging the same premium rates as other supposedly comparable courses, but you are nearly guaranteed a 2-shot penalty at least for being forced to play those two greens. They are horrific. FURTHERMORE, today, the Ranger drove up on my group as we were approaching the infamous 16th green. He told us that "due to new Orange Tree Policy that was just implemented this week, all golfers must pick up and abandon their games at 7pm regardless of how much sun light is left". We had enough light to play another 3 holes, yet the Ranger (older white haired man), demanded that we stop and terminate our round with two holes to play. In my 50+ years of playing this game, never have I had a Ranger terminate a match when we had 3 holes of light left. Absolutely ridiculous. What a terrible policy by Orange Tree Golf to go along with the overcharging of fees despite the terrible green conditions. The solution is simple, create temporary greens for #5 and #16 and re-build the greens. Instead, they have chosen to rip off their customers for as long as they possibly can, staying silent about their dirty little secret of poor green conditions while they squeeze out as much revenue as they can, all while fully aware of the injustice of charging what they are with the greens in such poor condition. Bottom line is this. Don't waste your money here. The playing conditions are far superior at any of the other nearby courses, Stonecreek, Starfire, Kierland, Biltmore, etc. I have put up with the poor greens for years, but tonight, being kicked off by the Ranger over this new Orange Tree Policy is absolutely deplorable.
