It was clean and spacious with very cute details! There's a mini bar fridge that kept the drinks in there cool but not cold, and it's not cold enough to keep food safely stored so it may be worth the $25 fridge charge (Which I do think is ridiculous for July in phoenix. Come on.) *I was on the 2nd level and its stairs only, so I did get asssistance from the bellhop -- he was so kind, helpful and welcoming! Pool area: Beautiful pool areas with a mix of sun and shade. Get there early if you're particular about where you sit. The water was nice but on a holiday weekend you could see the layer of oil from people's sunscreen etc (to be expected). Pool bar: Full bar you can order food and drinks from. Staff was helpful but they were definitely very busy so very blunt/brief transactional orders. There were servers that were taking orders and delivering but I couldn't tell if it was for everyone only not. I was never approached once in 3 days, and I saw staff actively avoiding eye contact with a few people trying to capture attention. Food: I had steak tacos which were fine, nothing exciting or special, and it doesn't come with any sides. Fries were good and crispy. Insalada salad was very mid (greens, pear, walnut, lemon dressing), and the shrimp was good but 4 medium shrimp for $13. Oats and berries: don't bother. I could tell the cold oats had been sitting on the plate for a while (very stiff, too stiff). It was gorgeous and the berries were great, but it wasn't worth the $. Canal Club: Really great space with the vibe you might expect. It was never quite too busy, and bartenders were attentive and friendly on Saturday and Sunday. Check out: This was not a great experience, but again I'm giving the benefit of the doubt of a holiday weekend. Before even arriving I opted for the late checkout (1pm) and when checking in they even confirmed it for me - great! I spent the morning at the pool but when I went back to my room (after 12) I couldn't get in so I'm locked out in my wet suit. Apparently my key only worked until 11 or 12 but no one informed me I'd need to reset my key (even tho this was confirmed prior to and upon arrival). It was annoying having to wait bc it also ended up taking up the rest of my time and my peaceful weekend ended in me rushing to get cleaned up and out of the room on time for the turnover. In addition, I was trying to make a latte before I left but since the room is slightly sloped (really lol!) the glass under the machine shook off and spilled everyone (for the second time). It was annoying and just added to the hurried checkout. After getting ready to head out I called to see if I could get help with my bags again and they said they were sending someone up and hung up before I could also request my car. I called right back and they got my car # and took care of it, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. Someone was there very quickly with a cart to help and from there it was smooth and friendly -- just as it was getting help to the room. All in all there are some areas I'd give 5 stars to, some 4, and others a 3. I am big on the service component, so the less desirable interactions leave me wanting to give 3 stars, especially given the cost of staying. I'm being generous because overall I had a good time in my room and by the pool... I will go again on a non-holiday and hopefully be able to update to 5 stars.

After being here in the heat perhaps they have guest park downstairs to avoid putting their cars in the sun and it's also gated down there. Either way knowing ahead of time you're paying for parking to park remote from your room will be less shocking when you see the size of the resort. The golf carts come very quickly. Swimming pool was a very nice warm temperature and was extremely busy so we opted to swim in the evening when it was empty. Only down side is that there's barely any light and the deck around the pool is uneven in places. We had room service the first night. Young man that delivered was very nice. The chicken fingers and veg paste was good. The albondigas was terrible. Two meat balls With some chipotle sauce. We ate breakfast every morning and it was good. The hostess and some of the other people acted like this was their first time being busy so it was entertaining to watch them scurry around like they were lost. We ate one night at Prado and the food had no flavor. Loved the smell of the restaurant like mesquite wood burning. The waiter was very nice and friendly. I posted that review on here as well. The entire staff were very friendly and helpful when asked. Never understood what was included in the $45/night resort fee and the parking was $35/night for valet and 30 for self park. So be forewarned add the $80 a night to your room rate. Plus the distance to your room can be quite a trek. Anyways would we stay here again?? Not sure. For the money we might try one of the other resorts around the area. So can't say either way right now.

In June 2025, the resort had a western/cowboy theme with all sorts of fun activities scattered throughout. There were pool movie nights advertised, a mini golf area, storybook reading and more! It's perfect for families. There are several pools too. I only hung out at the adults pool and it was quiet and calm. The pool wait staff were so friendly and attentive. Amanda who was wonderful, spoke with me on the phone and throught text message explained we would be moving to a Casita instead. She also helped send over info since it was my partner's birthday and a lovely chips, salsa, guac, augua fresco and water were delivered in our Casita. The Casita was already renovated with a spacious living room, dining room, washroom and bedroom. The only thing I would comment on not being perfect was the air conditioner is on the louder side and the water pressure of the shower can be stronger. The Casitas have a private smaller pool you can use close by if you want something more private and less walking. The bigger pool with the Cima bar was more our vibes. It was spacious, lots of greenery, places to sit or walk around, has cabanas you can rent and you can order food or drinks while you sun bathe. Victoria was the main server during our 3 night stay and she was friendly and helpful. Get be nachos (huge and amazing portions) and the margaritas. Our stay was absolutely memorable with every staff member we encountered along with the beautiful scenery and facilities which made the minor things not a big deal.

Rooms on the ground floor (first floor) have windows that open up into patios with chairs, and the higher floors all have windows that open and small balconies. After multiple name changes over a few decades like The James, Mondrian and Saguaro...it's now totally remodeled and rebranded as the Hotel Solaya and is a Hyatt JdV property. This is a historic property for Scottsdale as it was originally built in the early 1980s as a very high end Holiday Inn, and I remember when it was built (I grew up in Phoenix as a kid) and the architecture was modern and matched the then brand new Scottsdale Civic Center. The Scottsdale Civic Center, art museum and the nice park next door have been totally renovated as well, so it all feels brand new. The rooms are gorgeous with deep brown and taupe, soft sueded accents, some gold finishes and chic modern lighting. Comfortable beds and nice sheets. Compact, elegant and totally new bathrooms wth Malin + Goetz products. The pool is fantastic for doing laps with lots of comfy padded lounges and adjustable chairs, umbrellas, and a full bar with music during the day. There's a big jacuzzi connected to the pool. The hotel fitness center is near the pool area. It's airy inside with lots of windows. The equipment is very complete for a hotel gym with free weights, machines, kettle balls and cardio machines. The hotel staff is upbeat and cheerful. They have a brand new restaurant, Ella on the Park, a Southern USA influenced smokehouse. There's also a casual coffee bar with snacks. The entire lobby is beautifully redone with high ceilings. My gripes: 1. The $30 parking fee too high. It's more than some other hotels nearby. 2. The music that they played by the pool could be improved. It was a mix of generic greatest hits with some really mainstream rap music, and I feel like it could be a little more on trend. They need a DJ or someone to do a good mix because at one point the music was so bad (I understand music taste is subjective) and I just left the pool. I've stayed in many hotels where the poolside music was great and feel it could definitely be better. 3. When I was using the hotel gym, someone in charge at the hotel was walking through with workers (obviously in charge of the hotel remodel) and was loudly cussing up a storm with F and S words...I don't know if that's really appropriate in front of hotel clients using the gym? One of the great things about this hotel is it's in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. You can walk through the hotel's giant stylized "door" gates right into 1st Avenue and the Old Town with all its great stores, bars and restaurants right at your doorstep! Best location.

Don and Tom have have interesting stories from the various professions in which they've worked, and will gladly chat with you during breakfast and/or dinner (at your special request) while you enjoy a six star culinary experience (all food is prepared by the more than competent Chef Don!). We slept in the Oriental Room. The mattress was every bit as comfortable as our own (we didn't miss a wink of sleep once we laid our heads on the pillows); and the light blocking curtains on the French doors allowed us to rise when we were ready. We were also pleased to relax on the patio adjacent to our room, with a cheerful fountain gurgling happily for ambiance. Each evening, we enjoyed sipping wine and relaxing in the comfortable backyard oasis with the fountain bubbling and flowing into the koi pond as Don prepared our savory dinner. We were especially thankful that Don cheerfully transported us to and from Sky Harbor airport, and even made a stop at Target for us to pick up some necessities on our arrival. But this wasn't the only time Don helped us with the details of our vacation. He is a very friendly, helpful and capable concierge (and I mean that in the most respectful way) - there is just no end to this man's talents! We are looking forward to future visits at Don's Elegante Bed and Breakfast.

Pool is a mess. Felt like I was swimming at a buddies apartment building pool in 1997. Service is non existent, servers seem disgruntled. A female bartender, twice within a span on 24 hours, took a lot of delight in telling me 'we're not open yet' with a 'smile' on her face. 11am service on a Sat is not acceptable for guests that are paying $700+ to stay. Really need to start earlier than that during pool season. Rita's - just not good at all. The Pinot Noir by the glass is Meomi. If you know anything about wine, it's a joke. Shouldnt even be on the list. No other wine list was offered. Food, at best it's eh. Eaten here several times over the years and you forget how marginal it is because you get excited to come to a nice setting and then you quickly remember. This restaurant is on par with a nicer Applebees. Positives, bellmen and housekeeping have been great. Getting your hands on a cold bottle of water has been proven to be a challenge. Again I booked on points for Mothers Day but anyone paying $700+ a night should have cold bottled water at their disposal in Phoenix when it's 105. The greens are beautiful and well maintained. It's a very challenging course with a lot of sand and well-placed water. Off the golf locker room facilities could get a good makeover. However, if I had to give a critique. Don't come here to shower after your round. Above all, the staff was really really great. We got to interact with Rick out on the course and every time he came by we got the pleasure of talking about favorite movies. He was incredibly friendly and a great addition to an already stunning course.

The rooms are only one bedroom so it isn't ideal for bigger groups, but was perfect for a couple. They don't have parking spots near all the buildings so instead you park your car and they have golf carts to take you back and forth. It is an effective solution but a little time consuming especially if you have groceries or larger items to bring to your room each time. It also got a bit hard to navigate timing so we often would just walk to our room (heat or night not withstanding). I would say if you are hardy and able it works, but not great for those who have mobility issues. The rooms are bright and airy and clean. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We are used to other spots with a full kitchen and updated cabinets etc within the room, so this was a bit challenging (laundry is again down a walkway and not close to our room and no oven or hot plate in the room for any cooking). But if you are in town for a quick visit and will be eating out or golfing mostly then it is a nice spot. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant and it is a lovely spot for watching the golf course. We would most likely stay at another resort if back in town due to the lack of amenities in the room, but it was a pleasant stay and for a hotel like room with more space it was very pleasant.
