We hired Danny, Desert Rose Landscape & Irrigation ( as they are now known,, for several reasons. His company's 40 years of experience, insightful design ideas, & easy going manner. A year prior we had hired Danny to do a small repair to the front yard sprinkler system at another house. It was under a sales contract but the buyer's condition was that the sprinkler system be functioning. We only had a few days to find someone and get the work done by the settlement date. Danny agreed on an appointment & came right on time. When it came time for us to get the yard done on our new home we interviewed 3 companies. All were competitively priced. The decision was easy. We are over the moon happy with our back yard and the absolutely hassle-free, four-star work Dessert Rose, Danny & his team did! read more

They workers were punctual, clean, and fast. Our backyard was completed in 3 days. Owners checked in several times through out the process to make sure everything was going smooth. I'd highly recommend this company. read more

We met with Anthony and we're given a competitive quote to finish our backyard with pavers, artificial turf, rocks and plants. We decided to go with him because he could get the work started in a more timely manner than the other companies that we got quotes from. He subcontracts the work out, but didn't mention that to us and we never thought to ask. Luis and his crew did the work, and while I appreciate their hard work in this heat, the quality is not what we hoped for. The plants they brought did not look healthy. Luis apologized and said it was just because they were transported in his open pick up truck and they will recover. I then asked Anthony about the warranty on the plants and was never given a direct answer. He said all the warranty information is on the invoice. Well, there is no warranty on the plants at all, and unfortunately, we lost about half of them. That was over $800 down the drain. The rocks around the plantings was very thin. You can still see the dirt in some areas. We also paid extra to have more rocks added to our front yard and they did about half of the front yard. I think they just ran out of rocks and didn't bother to finish it. The artificial turf wasn't what we discussed. We wanted a longer blade pet friendly turf, which we thought we picked out with Anthony, but Luis gave us 3 to pick from and only one was pet friendly, so we went with that one. Unfortunately, it is a short blade, which is not what we wanted. Also, there is one seam that is quite obvious. The sand they used on the pavers isn't the polymeric sand that hardens in the cracks, it's just regular sand and is very messy and uneven. Every time we go out on the patio we track sand in the house. Lastly, and most discouraging, is the irrigation system. It seems to be leaking because there are wet spots where there isn't even any plants. It took several phone calls and texts to Anthony to get the crew back out. When they came back they denied that there is a leak. They claimed that we were watering too much and it was runoff. Unfortunately, the situation hasn't improved with less watering. We would not recommend this company. read more

Dan and his hard working crew just finished expansion of both the front entry into our home, creating a small courtyard, and expanding the rear patio, plus adding a paved path from front to rear yard areas. All was done in pavers. We couldn't be happier!! Dan was on-time or early for every promised appointment, and with his estimated start and completion of the work. His price was a good value compared to other bidders. He listened carefully to our concept, and was there to be sure that it was executed. His reaction to a change in scope that we made (deleting a decorative wall, because the pavers by themselves made such a positive visual statement) was unruffled and professional. We highly recommend Dan Duffy, and AZ Hardscape, and look forward to working with them again. read more

I am saddened that I have to leave only two stars. First, the work that they did was beautiful and the design was great! But where it fell short for us was the customer service. We had a couple of pavers that sank and spoke to Anthony and he said he would have someone come out and repair. That was in June and have not heard anything. Then we had a puppy do damage to the artificial grass. Not the companies fault in any way but just needed it repaired and have called and texted and no response. Communication is key in my opinion with customers. read more

I started with a completely naked (small) back yard area, and needed make it an attractive, low maintenance outdoor space. Anthony responded quickly with an on-site visit and estimate. We went with a combination of pavers, stone and artificial grass. He started with my rough idea of what I wanted and improved on it. He and his crew showed up bright and early, and completed the work in a day. I give the crew tremendous credit for working so hard in the record-breaking heat in the Phoenix area these days. Everything was cleaned up nicely when the work was done; Anthony even came back after the work was done with some pointers about maintenance and care. The cost of the work was very reasonable. The only thing keeping me from making this a 5-star review is that the paperwork and communication was not as organized as I would have liked: I got a tentative install date, but no official confirmation, I got a verbal estimate, but nothing in writing, and the final invoice/receipt did not come right away (I'm kind of a stickler for such things). I would have done a 4.5 if I could. : ) Otherwise, as concerns the quality of the work, it was outstanding! read more

Arizona Hardscapes was referred to us by my husbands coworker. Our backyard was nothing but dirt and nasty weeds for several years and we finally decided to have it landscaped. The first thing I would like to say is that our yard is beautiful and we love it. The crew that came out and did the pavers and turf worked over 14 hours in the middle of the Arizona summer and almost finished the whole job in a day. The work product is excellent. That being said, the quote we received initially ended up being wrong. Anthony does everything via text message which in hindsight I think was a problem. He gave us a quote and once we agreed to it they put things in motion. We had asked for a fire pit as well, but the cost of the fire pit was inadvertently left out of the quote. Once we realized this, when the yard was almost done, we contacted Anthony who at that time came back and told us that the initial quote was incorrect, not only did he leave out the fire pit but he apparently did the math wrong and we ended up having to pay an additional $850 due to his mistakes. If I were the business owner, I would feel it was my mistake and would eat the cost. As a consumer, my advice would be to meet with your client in person and provide a professional, written estimate for the client to sign off on rather than running a business via text message. Last thought is that he insisted we pay cash which is fine, but maybe a little shady. EDIT: since posting this we were contacted by the business owner and offered an apology and refund for the additional cost. I changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. read more

I bought a new home and, of course, there wasn't much landscaping included. I wanted a low maintenance property and planned on substantial hardscaping. My biggest concern was spending a substantial amount of money then receiving sub par work that would leave me unhappy in the end. I researched and contacted several area contractors. I subsequently requested some bids on the work. Anthony came out as a representative of Arizona Hardscapes. He was professional, knowledgeable and appeared to be honest. Anthony's bid was very reasonable and I later chose AZ Hardscapes to do the work. Anthony and I came up with a start date and sure enough, materials started being delivered a day before. The crew that I got was run by Miguel. I've NEVER seen a harder working crew in my life. These guys don't waste time! They installed driveway pavers, then a lot of travertine tile and artificial turf as well. Anthony also had a different crew come out and install a built in bbq. There were no other hidden costs, the work was done fast and beautifully. I take these reviews seriously because it gives customers a voice for others to hear before you jump into a big expenditure. Well, this voice says "don't hesitate to go with Arizona Hardscapes". Anthony, Miguel and the rest of the guys are always welcome in my home and I wouldn't hesitate to make them the first, and only, call I'd make for more hardscaping. read more
