This is my experience regarding an hair cut. 1, hair does grow out. Be adventurous with each visit to the salon. 2, every hair has different textures. Don't expect your style to look same as magazine or your friend. 3, learn how to style your own hair to suit your life style. It doesn't matter how good hair cut is if you don't know how to style it after you leave the salon. Been to many salons in many countries due to the my jobs. And my experience of Jayji salon is positive one.

However, when I asked for a trim and a setting perm of the straight parts of my hair that grew in, what I got was a complete cut and perm. I asked the stylist for what I did so I could maintain the length of my hair; now its at a little past shoulder length. Even while I was having my hair cut, I asked her to not cut it so short, or to put in too many layers. The response I got was "don't worry, it won't turn out too short/thin." Was in the salon for four hours, when in the past similar styles have taken around 2.5 hours longest. Cost me around $200 for an unsatisfying experience. I'd suggest staying away from this salon if you have specific instructions for your hair.

Ah! I really want to give this place more stars but I don't think I can…read more. The owner is SUPER nice and friendly but when it comes to quality & price FOR ME, it just wasn't it. The place was easy to get to, just beware there are steps. My sister had an appointment to get a digital perm so I went & waited while she got it done. For her digital perm, the price point is definitely lower than normal ($250 for a cut and perm) and it took only 2 hours to get it done. The end result wasn't bad, very curly! We'll just have to see how long it lasts.. No one else was there- not busy; she had one person while we were waiting ( a man who got a cut & wash for $50). Anyways, while waiting she kind of "coerced" me (kept asking) to get a haircut while waiting. I looked up the prices online and it said it was only $30-35 so i thought why not; my mistake. She took less than 10 minutes to give me a mediocre haircut & curled my hair with a straightener, and when I gave her $35, she said it's $50. She barely gave me a trim and charged me the full price. that left a bad taste in my mouth to be honest.. the haircut wasn't worth $50 and to charge me that much after i only got a trim is a bit "scammy". Not worth it, esp the drive out to Flushing from Jersey.

Usually, with asian salons, when you ask them to cut your hair two inches, they'll cut off 4 because they "know better". But this place does exactly as you ask! The oppah who always cuts my hair always does an amazing job. Last time, I asked for light highlights and he advised me not to do it since it would only damage my hair. He really has the best intentions for you (and your hair!). If you're parked right out front with the meters, and you're under the dryer or getting your hair washed, they'll make sure to load up the quarters so you don't get a ticket. In the past I would pay no more than $50 for this before tip so I brought $60 in cash. I wasn't really greeted or directed well but I think it's maybe due to the language barrier. I went to the wash station as directed. The lady offered me a leave in treatment for an extra $15. I asked how much the cut would be, she said $40 so the total would be $55. I said ok that's fine. As soon as they brought me to the chair to cut my hair, they started talking in Chinese about my hair. I already knew they were going to tell me the haircut costs more. The lady says so sorry but it's going to be $60, my boss says your hair is so long (pointing to the man cutting my hair). I said thats fine. Listen I know longer hair costs more but this should have been considered when I asked initially. The service was good, he did not cut off more than I asked and it was cut well. I get up to pay. No one is at the front to help me, so I'm looking around. A woman says "It's $65"..I'm like she just told me it's $60. I was super confused. She said, "I'm the boss, she doesn't know". At this point I won't argue over a few dollars. I zelle the $65 and I tell "the boss" I sent the money. This woman then has the audacity to say "$75 right?" I almost caused a scene and I really don't ever do that. I proceeded to leave without tipping. I do not ever leave without tip but I felt so deceived. The hairdresser had the nerve to chase after me asking for tip and I said no you guys lied to me about the pricing. This experience was very unprofessional and I will not be back. It is a shame because I really did like the service! Maybe if you speak the language they will be more transparent about pricing.
