I'm a Korean American woman with thick, coarse hair that's wiry in some places and straight in others, so that means that unfortunately most hairstylists I've gone to in the US can't do my hair right and often complain about it too lol. It felt nearly impossible for me to find a hairstylist outside of South Korea who could make my hair look good (without burning a large hole in my wallet), but I'm sooo happy to have found Jenny. So far I've had my hair treated, trimmed and/or permed on multiple occasions and have always been pleased with the results. Her prices are also more affordable than some of the other stylists I've been to in the past. Highly recommend!!

I lost track of time and was unable to get a haircut in Honolulu and it was to the point that I brought a cap on the plane (I never wear a cap.) I called and asked for an available stylist around 1pm - wasn't given a name but was confirmed. I got to the salon (right around the corner from where I'm staying) and was relayed to the stylist that I've arrived. As You C. stated below, I was assigned to Michelle (SSAEM (stylist/teacher)) and I cannot not rave about her. She was fun to talk to, consulted and asked of army input, and gave a great haircut. If my hair didn't grow as fast as it did, I'd wait to come back to get it cut by her, she's that great!!

After 36 years in existence, they were unable to make the rent. Fortunately, my haircutter Connie moved nearby to Oriental Stylist (東方名剪), a clean, small shop with eight salon chairs -- a few doors over from Maxi's Noodle -- in early October. Although most barber shops and salons in the area seem to be Mandarin Chinese only, Connie fluently converses in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. She is available by appointment only. Connie is meticulous and timely in her work, and her pleasant demeanor make each haircut a quick, relaxing experience. A face mask is required for entry to the salon; the mask is hooked to the barber cloth for the duration of the haircut. A haircut with wash is $13, and includes a brief, comfortable head message during the application of shampoo. Please tip generously if you are able. Five stars -- for Connie.

This review is for their head spa and basic haircut…read more I live very close to this salon and have gone a few times. Their hair cuts are always decent so I've gone back. Today I decided to try the head spa which they advertise in the front for $39 and also get my usual cut (straight, no layers, nothing fancy). It's a Monday around 1:30pm and it was empty so they took me in right away with no appointment. They said to do the spa first so I followed them to the basement which was a little sketch but I looked past it. There was a room with curtains and a bed with a sink which is where the service took place. This is definitely no frills and can use a good scrub down and some cleaner sheets and towels. However, the lady who performed the service knew what she was doing and did a great job. She washed and conditioned my hair, gave scalp, neck, shoulder, arms, legs massages. I really enjoyed the experience but the lack of cleanliness took off a star. Next was the haircut. I already got the head spa so my hair was already clean, it was literally just a basic cut and dry of my slightly below the shoulder length hair. I didn't get the lady's name but I think she's the owner. She was very detailed with the cut and took her time. The biggest turn off was at check out. When I asked how much the total was, another lady (3rd one I'm encountering) paused a bit and said $90. I was thinking in my head $51 for my very basic haircut with no wash seemed like a lot but I didn't argue. However, I only had enough cash to tip the stylist but I also wanted to tip the spa service so I asked to tip on my card. The lady pulled out a calculator and added tax on top of my tip. That's when I couldn't take it anymore and argued back that this is not right. I argued with her for a good minute before the manager stepped in and said just let it go. This is a bummer because I was planning to return for future haircuts but this experience turned me off and given that my hair is so simple to cut, I'll be going elsewhere.
