I can in for a walk-in appointment Sunday morning to get a haircut. Luckily, it was a slow morning was able to get in. Interior - very clean, well-lit, aesthetic, AC, with charging ports Service - by far the best service I've ever received at a hair studio, the gentleman was very friendly and meticulous with the cut. after the initial cut, they wash your hair AND give the best head massage - solid 10 minutes of a thorough massage. They also styled my hair and curled it. Skills - I love my hair cut and would definitely come back! read more

Tony and his assistant were marvelous, from the masterful styling of my hair to the best customer service! They listened to my perm requests and brought life to my hair. I was feeling a bit nauseous in the morning, but they quickly jumped to the rescue by providing hot tea and a few snacks to curb my morning hunger. I didn't expect such amazing and proactive service, but it just speaks to how much they care about their customers. I can't recommend this place enough! I will be back for checkins and hair maintenance whenever I can. read more

PROFESSIONAL. Thats my review of my stylist Kevin and the team. I originally told Kevin how I wanted my hair, but he actually patiently gave me analysis of my hair quality and face type and recommended a better cut. Some stylists are artists that won't listen to u, some are just tools that blindly follows what the customer tells them to do, but Kevin analyzed, gave suggestions, and worked with me on my hair style. Very pleasant experience. Oh, tip. CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Tip #2, give the team tips! read more

Worst experience ever! The price they quoted when I called is different from what they asked for at the end. The service is extremely bad. The water was cold when they wash your hair and the woman washes your hair was rude and did it very rough and the water spilt everywhere on your neck and face and your clothes ( no massage). And at the end that woman yelled at you for not tipping her more for her bad service. And they didn't do much my hair, not that stylish ( just cut it shorter). I will never go back!!! Worst experience ever! I would not advise anyone to go there! read more

I can only imagine that the bad reviews here are because you asked for the wrong stylist. I've been going to Alan for over 20 years. He is by appointment or request only. So if you want a good haircut, make an appointment with him. He is meticulous to details and will do what you ask. He'll offer suggestions if he thinks something else is better, but will always run it by you first. He is always swamped if you try to just walk in, so like I said, make an appointment in advance. He's off on Wednesdays. Pro tip: try to go on a weekday vs the weekend when everyone and their mother is trying to get a haircut. read more

His name is Tony don't even listen to my concern and requirements, while he is messing up with hair，Cut my hair out of many layers and uneven, like a cake, like an old man's hairstyle. I said everything and showed the picture. He still didn't listen to my opinion. Cut my hair out of many layers and uneven, My hair is broken, I am very sad! ! ! Finally, after cutting my hair, he blew my hair into my clothes. He kept pulling out my clothes and blowing my hair into my clothes. This behavior was very impolite, and I almost cried! The clothes are full of hair！Why go to such a hair salon to cut! ! ! he also likes asking stupid questions like: where do you work, He also said that he had been cutting his hair for 9 years, but like an apprentice, he was unprofessional！！！After he totally screwed up my hair. he went like "oh ,your hair looks soo great, don't you love it"? no no no！！！ Enough said, this place is definitely not recommended for anyone who wants to get a decent hair cut！！！Never go to such a place to cut your hair again！！！ read more

I came with a friend on a saturday afternoon with no appointment but it was fine. We both have very dark hair. I asked for highlights with no bleach and it came out perfectly. I also got a trim the end result was amazing. My friend got her hair dyed too and the color came out perfectly. This is probably one of the best hair salons that I've ever been to and I will definitely come back when my hair starts growing out. read more

I did japanese hair straightening with Alan. Team did an excellent job. They are very friendly and professional. My hair was very frizzy, dry and extremely coarse, after the treatment hair looked straight and manageable. They gave me an oil treatment at the end to reduce the frizz. It definitely made a huge difference. I highly recommend their haircuts too. read more

I came here yesterday to get my hair cut and I have to say I'm very unhappy with how it turned out... The stylist and I agreed it was just to be a trim with 2 inches off. He mentioned to thin it out a little bit because it seemed too much so I agreed. Instead I got a choppy cut with some places that were over 6 inches cut off. Not only does it look like my hair is in two sections now, it's going to look bad grown out and take longer for the front part of my hair to grow up to match the back part since it's almost 4-5 inches of a difference in length! All in all.. came in for a trim, came out with a choppy cut... I don't have a good before picture but it's the best I've got read more

My stylist is Jackie Chung, the best woman stylist in NY I have ever seen. She has over thirty years of stylist experience with a super humble attitude and patience. Her skills and expertise covered all ages and genders' hairstyles. Besides the best hairstyle design, the price is also very reasonable. My mom and all my friends gave her a high valuation by doing a haircut. It was first time at the red hair studio salon. The receptionist was friendly and my hair stylist Tony Li was really great! I didn't get a haircut with him this time because I only went there to get my hair styled (a good way to test out if the stylist is good or not). He was really gentle with my hair and I asked for soft romantic curls and he did it just the way I wanted :) I will be back to have my hair cut by him next time! read more

The first thing that really popped into my mind when I first went into Red Hair Salon was that it was really urban, chic, and clean. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly. She led me to Wendy, who washed my hair. Her hands were really skillful and I relaxed in a warm tub of water. I was already stressing out that day, and the massage was really, really helpful. She asked about the temperature, and how it felt. She's really nice and friendly. Then, I was led to the hair cutting area. I came in, and absolutely had no idea about what kind of cut I wanted. I didn't know anything about hair, and usually, I ask for the same thing, layered hair, with/without bangs. But this time, I let my stylist, John, decide for me. I knew that I didn't want it super short, but it had to be a short length for the hot summer ahead of me. So I let him work his magic. ;D It took an hour, for a simple haircut. But he was so attentive, and paid much time to every detail, wanting to get it right. I got side swept bangs with choppy layers. His decision was right for me, and it was a good length for summer, but also didn't get in my eyes. He's talkative, and has extraordinary skill. Show him a magazine picture, and he would tell you the pros and cons for you, and your face shape. And if you agree, he could recreate it so flawlessly. Overall, I was super impressed by Red Hair Salon, and when you go in, definitely ask for John. He does a variety of ages too. From 14-65, he's a pro. read more

Walked in at 4:45 pm on a Saturday night. (I usually request anyone who isn't busy with multiple clients cause everyone on the team is pretty experienced) Last night, it was Alan who was available. He's a talented, cheerful, peppy guy-- he's got an eclectic portfolio-- for both cut and color. He consulted me regarding my questions on color, cut style and hot oil treatment. (He didn't try to hot sell me anything extra-- he's like, hey everything is up to you!) I really couldn't be happier with my cut and color. He spent 3 hours bleaching, 2 hour color set, wash and hot oil treatment-- then another 1 hour cut and blowout. (Keep in mind that I haven't colored or permed my hair in over 10 years. So the hair texture, despite bleaching for 3 hours, was still pretty healthy looking and soft afterwards.) Alan, thank you for your hard work, attentiveness to detail and professionalism! I adore Eden and have been coming to him for 5+ years despite having moved out of state for 3+. He knows that I am fairly conservative with my hair and never tries too hard to sell me on products and styling. He's also convinced me to try new styles and dyes that have always turned out great. And the dyed hair looked great for more than one year so great value for the money. He gets realky busy (especially on weekends) but I've never been rushed. He definitely spends at least 1hr on cutting, takes about 3 if u color so make sure you have plenty of time. Definitely not the cheapest in flushing , but well worth the money read more

A very chic and modern studio. I got a simple haircut so it was uneventful. Although, if you do not speak any of the Chinese language it will be a challenge. Save your money to somewhere else! The worst experience ever in my life. Ridiculous front desk service, they got the money out from their customers but don't bother think about providing quality service. This hair salon is a ripped off as well, they charge me separately with coloring, washing and blow dry. Can you color your hair without washing? I thought the price is included with the basic service, such as washing and blow dry . I paid 80 dollars for my short length hair for the coloring, and extra 20 dollars for the service they should included with the hair coloring. BTW, they also remind you about paying tips, I SAID I Know! (I was already pissed off.) I paid $8 for stylist, and $5 for the assistant. Furthermore, The women who dyed my hair and washed my hair is a pain in the ass. She put so much hair dye over my forehead and she does her work without any patience. I guess they don't even care how you feel and how you think . Though I had good experience first time when I was there with Mr.Wen. That's why I was here today, and I will never come back to such a place! read more

My first time visit, but I will never visit here again, never. Tony made the straightening perm for me. He made tricks on the price. During the first phone call, he said that general prices are $160 and $180, and he will make discounts. When I visited the store and washed my hair, he introduced the products. I asked the prices, but he didn't tell me the prices. He just answered, he will give me good prices, no worry. At this time, I felt strange. I asked again and again, how much is it? He said $200 and $220. Lol, you told me $160 and $180 on the phone! My hair is short above the neck! Also, he played many tricks during the conversation, here I didn't provide the details. Finally, I made it $180 for short hair. He also persuaded me on other conditioners. I hate that he played tricks. After the perm, it is Tony's turn to cut my hair. He only cut a little for 6 minutes. Then he said: "it is done. I will miss the train, give me the tip quickly. I will miss the train." My broken hairs were still on my face. I cleared the hair on my own!! I gave him 18% tips. He didn't give me the tip change, then he said "I don't have the change. Is it OK?" I told him "you can ask the teller for change". He said "it is my money. I can not ask the teller". He only cared the money and ran out. He missed the train and came back. I told him that you cut my hair for too short time. I didn't think you finished it. (I have hair cutting experiences for 20+ yrs). Then he took care of my hair again and finished it. This is the professionalism? professional ethic? Finally, I asked him whether I could use the restroom. He said yes. When I used the restroom, he knocked the door, very rude "what are you doing?"' Is this the way the store treats guests? When I got out of the store, Tony was rude and said they will close the door. I am the guest who paid $200+ for the perm. But he treated me so rude, even he can not wait for me to use the restroom. I was the guest who sit in the store for 3 hours. After I came back home, all of my friends gave bad feedback for my hair. I have to find other stores to recut it! Waste money Don't believe the advertisement. I trusted him at first because of the online advertisement. There are many similar bad reviews on the perm experiences below. I regret that I didn't check the previous reviews on yelp!! read more

This is my first review of a hair Salon so I don'y really know how to play it but.... the design inside is very post modern and chic, mostly white and red hues so it makes me think of the mid-90s when a lot of places were sporting this design. Some places in the city still do... There is a seating area with many magazines with womens hair styles from Japan to Taiwan and Hong Kong and they seemed fairly popular with the clientele. The music is also your general Asian fare with popular songs from China, HK, and Taiwan. The reason however why this place gets five stars for me is their service and their excellent haircut. As an Asian male it is hard for me to find a place to get my hair cut; my choices are generally barber shops who dont know how to do "asian hair" or salons around the city which also really dont know how to do "asian hair". In the past I have resorted to going to cheap Chinatown or Flushing hair cutting places for men but most of the time I come out looking like I got a Chinese army haircut (however the prices are ridiculously cheap) Unlike either of those places, "Red Hair Salon" knows how to do my hair and I come out pretty satisfied with the haircut. While the price is around $30 for a shampoo cut and blow dry, it is well worth it to not look like I have just escaped enlistment. The service is also exceptional, similar to many establishments they will give you a shampoo and condition with a head massage followed by the haircut and they will wash it again to make sure the hair is out. By far this is one of the best salons or any barber that I have gone to. Note that sometimes on the weekends it is quite busy and it is good to come in with an appointment. The stylists/barber will generally give you their card so you can always call back. read more

I went to perm my hair today and I was very disappointed for the result that I got. My hair doesn't look like it is already Done, I looks the same way when I walk in. I spent 3 hours and 117 dollar for nothing. And if you want to pay by debit or a credit card you have to pay for processing fee 4%. I walk in with out and appointment and they look nice at first my hair dresser went to talk to me and I point a picture for him this is how I wanna perm my hair and I want my hair to look like and I trusted him to do whatever to make my hair like in a picture after 3 hour a result came out I told my hair dresser and the host the I don't like the result at all, they can not do anything about it and I just asked them for a manager or the owner and they said "they all not available" so I just lost my hundred dollars and my 3 hours for free. What should I do now can anybody do something about this??? This is really really bad experience ever if you thing about walk in trying a new salon that look quite nice and willing to pay for a nice result just. Just stay away for this salon they won't do nothing for you beside wasting your time and money for nothing!!!!!! read more

The hairstylist knows my style so well and got me so prepared no matter it's when I went on stage or normal daily life! Nice job!

I'm kind of pissed off by my last hair cut. I've been to Red a number of times. I never go for anything drastic. It's usually 3 inch trim. Maintain the style and side angle. Don't give me too many layers. In general I don't speak much with the hair dresses and that's fine since the males are pretty aloof, my Chinese is ok, and I don't care for the chit chat. I've had Wen and Jackie give me haircuts and they were decent. My recent cut was from Eden. He seemed like a nice guy and there was very minimal discussion. My hair grew really fast since the last cut and felt really drab. He suggested bangs and I gave him my usual instructions about the side angle. During the cut he seemed to know what he was doing. He took some hair off then blow dried, and then kept cutting. Next he started to curl my hair which I thought was weird and figured he was done but then continued cutting for 10 mins. Wisps off here and there. Back to curling and then he asked what I thought. It was really hard to see what he did since there were just random curls. He forgot about the bangs but by then I lost all confidence in him anyway. The length was fine but I wasn't really digging it. I figured I'd just give it a few days. Well after I washed my hair I discovered what a terrible job he did! He did not follow the previous style of my hair. The layers are strange. I have long sections in the back and the layers are just all over. Next time I will stick with Jackie. read more

My haircut was something along the lines of "mediocre" or "eh." Yes, the atmosphere is really cute, and there are a decent amount of magazines to gloss through. Yes, hair dresser was nice, and the music was at a tone where I could hear it, but didn't need to puncture my ears out. But in the end, my haircut was a resounding "eh," and I am going to a salon for a haircut, not an atmosphere. Overall, my wash, cut and dry was abut 38 dollars (about 30 not including tip). The wash was fine (the lady got a lot of water in my ears). I waited about 10 minutes between the wash and being attended too. Interestingly enough, they dried my hair before cutting it (I am very used to a wet cut), so I was a little thrown off with my hair being straightened before it was cut. The point at which she parted my hair was about an inch off (which ended up affecting the way my hairstyle was in the end), but the woman drying my hair truly struggled with where I wanted my hair parted, even after I had pointed to it myself. The hairdresser, Jackie, herself was pleasant, and asked about the cut I wanted. She took a little longer than expected, but at least my hair was even. My bangs were cut a little funny and a bit uneven, but I have long bangs that come to my chin (my longest hairs are about an inch and a half above my waist), so they are easily hidden. Furthermore, both the woman who washed my hair and the woman who cut my hair both took calls AS they were washing/cutting my hair. To me, that shows a serious lack of professionalism. Jackie, the woman who cut my hair, must have been on the phone for at least 10-15 minutes as she was cutting my hair. If I really, really had to, if no other salon was open and my split ends were driving me nuts. I suppose I would go there again. However, there are cheaper salons who give significantly better haircuts and washes, especially in the Flushing area. read more

Hubby came here on a whim for a summer haircut. He called to make an appointment and when asked for which stylist, he just randomly picked a name from their website. K was right on time for his appointment but ended up waiting at least 30 minutes to even sit in the chair. He did get a hair wash during this wait, but by the time the stylist was ready for him, his hair was practically dry! The stylist was very meticulous though, listening to what he wanted and giving some suggestions here and there and then he went to work. There was no chit chatting (which hubby prefers). The salon itself is very chic and constantly busy; in fact, that is why hubby selected this salon in the first place. There is a small waiting area with couches and magazines, and a loft-like second floor where there are other stylists. Each stylist has their own station with their names clearly labeled on the top. For $23+ tax/tip, this was a reasonable price to pay for the type of service received here. read more
