I called ahead to see if they could do a certain design because I know what I wanted was rather complicated and they said yes. Went there, showed them a reference picture, had the picture on my phone in front of them the entire time. First pic is the reference. The second is my actual head after that haircut. Literally nowhere near the picture (which I wasn't really expecting perfection but this was just..... awful). Maybe there was some kind of communication issue but I feel like I wasted 25 bucks on a haircut I can't salvage. Wish the guy just said he couldn't do it I would've understood. i needed a cut. i was considering cutting it myself like i've been doing for most of COVID but i was tired so i decided to go to yury's. sat down in a chair and was getting my cut done by a young guy. asked for a low fade with a half. haircuts done. guidelines are still there, gave me a half alright...and then a 1 on one side and a 2 on the other. didn't fade up to blend into the top of my hair so now when i put my hair back, it's like i'm wearing a hat. honestly speaking, my haircuts aren't the best but this kid did worse than me. read more

First time coming to Yurys and I was really happy with my results. I came in and David was available which was lucky for me because I think i've found my new go-to barber. I've been burned by bad barbers before so I went in hoping to fix a past mistake. He gave me a recommendation of what would work best for me but also took time to listen to any concerns or questions. He gave me a lot of different options and listened to any suggestions I had. The cut took around 20 mins and you could definitely tell he paid close attention. I asked for a hard part in my hair and the line was so well done. Even though this barbershop is a bit out of the way from where I live, I'll definitely be coming back here over and over again. Pricing was really fair especially since I've been to higher end barbershops and they provided similar if not worse quality. I highly recommend David! read more

Great service and a great cut. David Kim is the man to go to. Really took his time to make sure that I got the look that I wanted. Did a great job fading the sides while keeping the length I wanted on top. Most barbers have a hard time doing both and David went above and beyond to ensure it was the look I was going for. I wanted to give them a 4 star but I thought it's unfair to take 1 star away just because I can get the cut for my son cheaper elsewhere for $2 less. The shop was perfect, oldskool NYC barbershop in Queens which I'm used to. I read good reviews about them on Yelp about the star stylist David Kim but I went with older gentleman in the 1st seat, Ilysa, think he's the owner. He screwed the metal pipes and fitted the high seat in his classic barber chair and my son eagerly climbed in. Last night I tried to cut my son's hair on my own and I messed up royally! I felt so bad all night and people on Facebook recommended here. This place reminds me of the shops I grew up with in Bayside. I have my own guy to cut me but he couldn't make it today since he's booked up so out of emergency I tried Yury's. The best part is, my son's aura matches Ilysa and my boy was so so well behaved. Not only did Yury's saved my baby boy's cut and undone my damage but also I found a convenient barbershop for my son. Also my vane son like his dad LOL really liked his cut! read more

Ive been going to Yuri's barbershop for many many years now (10+ years) and have recommended family and friends. The place is fairly large, with approx 10 chairs and a whole bunch of people working there. The issue I have run into with Yuri's is the staff''s professionalism and the owners attitude toward it. You have the regulars who work there (about half) then the other half are doing it between summers in school or until they find something better. One such example is the son of one of the employees, who is very rude and confrontational. I got my haircut with him one, and didnt like the job. I still tipped him, but next time I went to another (more experienced) barber within the shop. This employee confronted me in the presence of all the other customers and employees asking why i was not happy, not wanting to get into a direct confrontation, i just replied I wanted to try a different haircutter. From then on, everytime i walk into the store, he would hold a grudge against me. Behaving very arrogant. I brought this up with the owner, and the owner said he would handle it. Next time I returned, owner was present, the young barber continued behaving this way, in his presence. Owner couldn't care less. All he cares about is getting my money. The other staff who work there are pretty nice, The management is running the business to the ground with his arrogance,and support of other employees's arrogance. I am seeing a drop off in their clientele in the last couple of years. I am now seeking a new barber shop. read more

I wanted a combover undercut kind of hairstyle. I have Asian hair so I thought it would be hard to actually make it look good, but the barber I went to did a pretty good job, considering he looked new and young. He has what it takes, and in a few more cuts, he'll be able to give me the exact hairstyle I want every time. His name is David, in the corner, with a Korean flag. Great place to get a fresh looking haircut with good service. Definitely ask for David. Even though he seemed new, he was friendly and opened up with how I wanted my cut. I told him that I wanted a cut for a wedding and he was able to deliver just that. Also recommended me some pretty good tips on waxing my hair and on styling options with the cut that he gave me. I ended up getting compliments on my hair during the wedding I attended for the great cut. Been coming here for a while now. I've had my hair cut by most of the barbers, and with the exception of Rafael, they've all been good experiences. They are all courteous and professional though. The one not-so-good experience was with Rafael, who didn't seem like he knew too much what he was doing. I asked for a 1 and a half on my sides and he damn near shaved it to the skin. And the haircut looked like a cow decided to graze on my head and move on. Otherwise, all my haircuts have turned out nicely and it's always a pleasant experience. Would recommend. read more

Sigh. I love this barber shop. There are several great barbers here. Have been going for a long long long time. The owner is super nice and the barbers are awesome. They give great haircuts. Everything is great about this barber shop. Ok, all that said,...they raised prices again. Sorry but $17 for a haircut in Queens, NY is a lot. I like the place under the train trestle 'Jimmys' but wont go there because their prices are too high. At least, they offer a Wednesday special. I get that operating a business in 2016 is hard and the Federal Reserve just prints money and inflation in everything is inevitable. All that said, $17 is still a lot. I know several places in the neighborhood that I will try out for $12. I usually give a $5 tip too. I dont mind spending money but $20 in total for a haircut is as much as I want to spend. Hence, raising prices takes tip money out of the people who actually cut the hair. read more

I've been going here for years and get good service. When people review and say they sometimes get rude treatment, I think it's sometimes a cultural thing. Most of the guys working there are Russian immigrants and they are just more direct than what many people are used to here. But, the last time I was there, my regular guy Tony and his brother were no longer working there. I asked but was told Tony is just not in today but I noticed his stuff was gone. Having read the reviews, I decided to get my haircut here at Yurys. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted by a short young barber who asked me if I needed a haircut. Since it was Monday afternoon, the place was empty so I sat in the seat where the barber proceeded to start the cut. He asked me what I wanted and I told him I wanted a fade with trimmed sides/back. He said ok and proceeded to cut my hair. He seemed as if I was his first client ever. He did not know what a fade was and kept asking me if it was good because he didn't know what he was doing. He spent around an hour slowly cutting my top but did not do what was expected of him and that was a fade. In the end, seeing that he tried so long to cut my hair I gave him the requested $20 in addition to $3 tip. However, I would never come back again because the haircuts I have had in Flushing and Chinatown are way cheaper and of better quality. read more

the barber rushed my haircut, didn't even try to replace the razor blade with a new one untill i asked him to do so...tried charging me by my age which i find it really ridiculous. i asked for a taper fade and they just messed my whole sides up cutting it really short. i asked to keep the shape the of my head they didn't listen.
