When we got in there there was absolutely nobody around except the clerk (should have been the first sign to leave). She immediately called out the employees and they got to work. For the "stylist" I had (he had pink hair), I presented a picture of what I was looking to get (pretty simple taper on the side, trim on the top with texture added) and he proceeded to nod and smile to acknowledge my request. Welp, the dude took his clippers and went straight up the side of my head with no care in the world shaving nearly everything off and proceeded to follow that pattern for the whole side of my head. He then did nothing to the top but trim off loose pieces to mask the fact that he already demolished my head. To make matters worse, he styled my hair with product and essentially turned what was left of the hair on the top of my head into the shape of a hat. My pops got equally messed up by his worker and the dude who did my mom couldn't even make her hair even, the literal right side of her hair is like 3 inches longer than the left EVEN after he carefully measured and gauge to see if it was symmetric. After reading all this and you're still considering on going, god speed, maybe you'll have better luck.

The place was easy to get to, just beware there are steps. My sister had an appointment to get a digital perm so I went & waited while she got it done. For her digital perm, the price point is definitely lower than normal ($250 for a cut and perm) and it took only 2 hours to get it done. The end result wasn't bad, very curly! We'll just have to see how long it lasts.. No one else was there- not busy; she had one person while we were waiting ( a man who got a cut & wash for $50). Anyways, while waiting she kind of "coerced" me (kept asking) to get a haircut while waiting. I looked up the prices online and it said it was only $30-35 so i thought why not; my mistake. She took less than 10 minutes to give me a mediocre haircut & curled my hair with a straightener, and when I gave her $35, she said it's $50. She barely gave me a trim and charged me the full price. that left a bad taste in my mouth to be honest.. the haircut wasn't worth $50 and to charge me that much after i only got a trim is a bit "scammy". Not worth it, esp the drive out to Flushing from Jersey.

I brought the kids to New LD Hair Salon. The physical storefront is relatively new, but the people have been cutting the kids' hair for years. Ambience: a no frills hair salon that has 6 chairs. You won't get any meditation music in the background, nor will you see any Feng Shui decorations. However, the place is relatively clean and modern. Service: Very friendly. Their clientele is mostly Chinese, so language barrier may be an issue if you need something more elaborate than a hair cut. TL/DR: $15 for a wash and cut? How can you go wrong?
