Bought a "50%off" bottle of wine (on "sale" it was 33 plus tax $37.00 for bottle of wine. ) Total came out to $57.00 (no you don't get a free tasting when you buy a bottle!) They get a 5 stars on staff friendliness and decor. They get less than 1star on flavor. It lacks depth and complexity. It's watery and flat and grossly overpriced. I loved how this tasting room felt when I walked in. They are so friendly and knowledgeable about their wines and made the whole experience so easy. We were able to try five wines and the reds were definitely my favorite. . I was wanting a wine glass to bring home, and the woman working was so kind to go in the back and find one for me. Angelica (not sure of spelling?) was our guide and did an amazing job (and we topped appropriately, as should others). She helped us choose a couple of red flights so that we got to try all 8 of the reds they had open for tasting and served up their white flight. We definitely took advantage of their Tuesday deal for 50% many of their bottles and could not believe we were buying a bottle for what a glass of wine of this quality would cost here in the US. The wine prices reminded us of Italy, where we thought we were buying a glass and actually got a bottle! And the quality of wine was comparable to any great wine we have had from Europe to CA's wine country, where we live part-time for work. There was only one other couple who came in while we were there, as we came right when they opened, and we all received excellent service. The place itself is comfortable and has a great ambiance for a wine tasting room. We would definitely go back and look forward to trying to be in town during the wine festival! Thank you! read more

We ordered a red flight and a barrel select flight. My husband really liked the merlot from the red flight and I enjoyed the malbec from the barrel select menu. We like our red wines at room temperature, so we did not love that today's servings were a bit chilled. We asked for a tasting of the 2020 syrah at room temp and liked it enough to buy a case for only $144. Luckily we could sit on the patio today and enjoy the fresh air and warm weather. Inside seating did not look especially comfortable, but the fireplace was a nice touch. Both servers were very friendly. read more

We had an amazing experience. We love our wine, we lived in wine country for a few years. Arizona has a ways to go to compete with Napa and the PNW but Aridus had some great wine to enjoy! We signed up for a membership. The Tempranillo and Malbec were our favorites. We're a bigger fan of Red wines. The Viognier was very interesting because they were fermented in terra-cotta. I am a little late in writing this but when I was visiting Willcox last week I read about Aridus Wines. Since it peaked my interest I grabbed the in-laws and we went for a taste. Now, I am from California and are use to California wines but Aridus was pretty darn good! I went to a few others that week and nothing compared with Aridus! NOTHING!!!! If I lived in the Willcox area I would be at Aridus every Tuesday for the 1/2 off bottle special! Of course I bought some to go!!!! Also I want to give a special shout out to Angelica!!!!! Best customer service I have had in a long time! We didn't want to leave! Very knowledgeable about the wines, the regions of Arizona and just the best personality of all of the wineries we visited. Nobody cared that much about what they were pouring but Angelica takes pride in Aridus and the wine they make. She also has a great sense of humor and had us laughing! The whole experience was just so great. Unfortunately we visited here first so she set the bar high and all of the other wineries paled in comparison. BACKGROUND Since I first started learning about the Willcox Wine Region of Arizona two years ago at the Willcox Wine Festival, it continues to grow in prominence as more of a demand for locally sourced grapes is overtaking bars and restaurants. With Willcox being properly equipped to provide the grapes, the region supplies 74% of the Arizona wine grapes in the state. Also receiving consecutive high ratings with Wine Spectator, earning accreditations for over 45 wines grown in the region during the last 5-days, wineries located therein are receiving significant attention for their operations. ARIDUS WINE COMPANY & EXPERIENCE One of those notable vineyards is the Aridus Wine Company. Aridus has two tasting rooms, one in downtown Willcox, one in Scottsdale, as well as the warehouse in Willcox. I had a chance to stop by a few times to the Aridus Wine Tasting Room in Willcox, once with my mom, and it's quite fun and flash. Although the tasting room is in a tiny cottage in Willcox, it's definitely a high quality establishment. I enjoyed both of my visits, as did my mom. Between us, we tasted and purchased all of their selections, as well as their unique crystal glasses. Run by owner Scott Dahmer with winemaker Lisa Strid, Aridus Wine Company is a family owned custom crush winery located in the heart of Willcox. Opening its doors to patrons in 2012 after refurbishing what was once a 28,000 square foot apple warehouse, it's one of the largest winemaking facilities in all of the state. People come from around the world to observe the state-of-the-art winemaking equipment, as well as the majestic mountain backdrop that enhances the rustic aesthetic common in rural Arizona. To create their product, Lisa Strid works with grapes from Arizona, New Mexico, and California to create award-winning and balanced wines that express the aromatic profile of Arizona's wine today. However, since the Arizona wine market has become fruitful and lucrative, it's something worth fighting over. Scott Dahmer is in the middle of a legal battle with previous partner Rob Hammelman, co-owner of Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. Hammelman told Arizona Central that Scott is deceiving customers by selling out-of-state grapes to those that visit his winery and purchase his products to save money. As a result, it's undermining the hard work and integrity of the Arizona wine market, providing cheaper alternatives that harm the vineyards actually growing Arizona grapes. Ending on poor terms when Aridus elected to have Sand-Reckoner remove their winemaking process from their facility while still keeping cases of the 435 cases of the wine, the two are presently fighting it out in court to identify what went wrong. Today, Aridus is the only winery in Willcox to contain the large-scale winemaking equipment available to other growers. As the court case has demonstrated, Aridus is making it difficult to pay for using such equipment, which in many cases, is sending other grape growers, including Carlson Creek Winery, 300 miles north to Camp Verde to obtain the grapes they need to finish off their products. CONCLUSION Although Arizona is just 0.024% of USA wine production, overall, Aridus is still shedding light and bringing tourism to the newfound Arizona wine industry in great numbers. Adding a tasting room in Scottsdale for locals, as well as visitors, wishing to experience a growingly popular wine label, I am interested to see how the Arizona winemaking controversies play out in the future. This was the last stop on our wine tasting tour of Willcox- as they say, the best was saved for last. We got to the tasting room a little early and was not an issue for Carolyn - our host, She was incredibly nice and friendly and knowledgable about all the wines by Aridus. This vineyard had the most variety of wines and all of the ones in the flight we tried were incredible. We stopped in for a tasting while staying in Willcox. We've been to the Scottsdale location on several occasions but this was the first time here. I really liked the tasting room at this location. The decor was somewhat similar as the Scottsdale location so it had the same feel but I really liked the fact that it is in an old house. There's just something I love about old houses! Unfortunately the service wasn't as great at this location. The server didn't seem to know too much about the wines, even referring us to the website to learn more. That's a first! We came to Wilcox yesterday for an impromptu and very unplanned day of wine tasting. We got there pretty late in the day, so we only had time for two tasting rooms. Aridus was one of them. After having a tasting at this exquisite little tasting room, I don't mind that we were only able to hit up two, as long as this was one of them. We had been to Flying Leaps across the road, and Aridus was finally open! The last times I have been to Wilcox, they either haven't been open or were still in the process of getting things up and running. We decided to try them out. We walked in, and it looks very nice and well put together. The decor is very industrial-chic, with a raw wood ceiling and lots of windows. This room is gorgeous. Then Carrie walks out. What a doll! We were there for well over an hour, and it honestly felt like drinking wine with an old friend. There was a wine that she and I could both taste caramel, and apparently most people don't. My husband didn't. She asked me if I had a weird thing about Cheerios (which I do). I told her I think they taste like iguana food. I got to hear the funniest story regarding iguana CPR! The wines were delicious. I am not a big Chardonnay fan, and have found a few that I can tolerate, but had heretofore never had one that I actually enjoyed. I loved this one. The oak and butter flavor were not overwhelming, it was delicate and delicious. We wound up with a bottle of their Zinfandel. It is so tasty, and I can see it being paired to a number of yummy foods.
