Justine is my hero! I got a piece done at a "5-star parlor" which was supposed to honor my mom who had just passed. It was supposed to say "Goodnight Iren" but to my surprise it ended up saying "Boobnight Iren" (the before picture) (pretty funny now, but not so much when it happened) I reached out to a few artists and most came back with 'Come and we'll see if we can do anything' or 'I have to see if it can match my style.' Justine was the only one who actually took the time and met with me online the same day and talked out options. I sent a few examples and sketches from my favorite artist (Gustav Dore) and within 2 days she sent me a mock up. It was much better than I expected and matched the style I like really well. As far as the work itself, we had 4 sessions, she is very timely, super clean (and I'm a germaphobe), very conscious of how I was feeling throughout the whole process. The room was camling, the music was relaxing, and the painful process of getting a tattoo was an afterthought. I'm glad my original tattoo got messed up cause it let me through this journey and I'll definitely be going back to Justine for more, but maybe without getting a bad tattoo first this time.

During the session, Aimee's gentle approach and professionalism made the whole experience a joy. She constantly checked in to ensure I was comfortable and made me feel completely at ease throughout. She made sure I knew the aftercare procedures and even checked up on my tattoo over the next couple of days/weeks. The studio is in a cool, vintage building downtown. The shop inside is clean, spacious, and bright. Parking is pretty easy; there are many lots and parking garages nearby. If you're looking for an artist who genuinely cares about their work and their clients, I highly recommend Aimee! I will definitely be returning for another!

Even before stepping foot in her studio, when texting for some advice about a design I needed updating, I received a prompt callback with friendly information and a general quote. When the appointment day came, from the moment I walked in, she made me feel completely at home. It's a beautiful space, very relaxed with plants and soft lighting - in a great little corner of the historic core (DTLA). Her attitude is beyond gracious, she made me feel completely at ease - and most importantly, her work is stunning. I left with two beautifully-updated pieces, one on my arm and one on my chest. Justine is a pro with fine-line work, my pieces are rather delicate and I just couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Thank you so much Earth Altar. I'll definitely be back when ready for another ink adventure.

From setting an appointment to directions where to park and to get into the building. My entire experience was amazing. Can't wait to stop by again soon for another tattoo. Very nice and neat tattoo studio. Everything is very clean and I absolutely love all her mirrors. I love how comfortable she made me feel. Calling all earthlings: make your way to Earth Altar for your next tattoo, ASAP! I got my most recent piece here just a few hours ago and I'm already ready to sing their praises! I'd been wanting a new piece for awhile, but hadn't found the right artist to execute. While I already had some pieces, I didn't think the artists who did that work had the style I needed. I found Mari's work through Instagram and was so impressed that I reached out to her almost immediately! The booking request form is really thorough and it even asks for your pronouns, which I really appreciate! Mari responded to my email quickly and it was immediately clear that she understood precisely what I wanted and how to execute. She was also transparent about pricing, which I deeply appreciated. I reached out to the shop over the holidays so it took a little while to hear back for scheduling, but I love that the studio gave staff time to rest and recuperate! Red helped get me scheduled and was very communicative about the shop's requirements and policies. The deposit process was quick and easy as well. Each artist has their own deposit cost, but the process is all the same. The studio is in Eagle Rock on Colorado. I didn't park on Colorado since I wasn't sure exactly how long my appointment would take; luckily there's plenty of parking in the neighborhood's side streets. The shop is hidden from the outside, which I appreciated because it afforded me a sense of privacy. I rang the doorbell and Emma at the front desk greeted me so warmly. When I walked in, I was struck by how bright, clean, and inviting the space was--it felt so comfortable, especially since I knew I'd be there for awhile. I took a seat and Emma sent me the shop's consent form. The form was super detailed, even including info about covid, and I am so grateful that they ask clients whether or not they're ok with their piece being shared. After completing the form, I waited a bit and Mari came over to share what she had come up with based on our conversation. She had several different sketches and I loved each one, so it was actually difficult to narrow it down, but I asked for her opinion and she helped me made a decision. We discussed sizing and placement, and she went to prep things. From there, she applied the stencil and we got right to work! Mari has such a sweet, gentle bedside manner. She checked in on me frequently and offered plenty of opportunities to take a break (though, thankfully, I didn't need to). She's a joy to chat with and I loved learning more about how she views the world. One thing she shared with me is that she originally was just working at the front desk, but the owner took her under her wing and gave her the opportunity to learn tattooing. I feel that story speaks volumes about the type of shop that Earth Altar is and how they do business. I also loved the wall of her station because it not only showcased her tattoo work but her overall personality. I felt so comfortable and safe with Mari, and in no way did I feel like she was rushing to get the piece done. When getting a tattoo, it's always a balance between getting the piece done quickly to make sure you're not in pain and taking the appropriate amount of time to ensure the details look good. Mari found that balance so effortlessly that it's hard to believe she hasn't been doing this for her entire life! The piece itself came out beautifully and I feel that she really honored all the things that I was looking for. Her pricing was very reasonable and she shared with me that it's important that she be as accessible as possible without compromising her own needs or boundaries; that approach really resonated with me and I'm glad our values aligned. Once the piece was done, Mari made sure to share aftercare info with me and bandage me up. I appreciate that she gave me the rundown--even though I already have a few pieces, I think it's still important to share that info anyway, to cover the bases. From there she asked if she could snap a few photos of me, and while it was totally ok with me, I am glad she asked! Checking out at the front was super easy. Emma prepped a Venmo QR code for me to pay, and was very patient when my phone was being persnickety. There's also a sheet with every artist's QR code as well, so I was able to leave a nice tip for Mari. Overall, I had such a wonderful experience working with Mari and the whole Earth Altar team. The shop is run with a focus on safety and integrity, and the beauty of Mari's work speaks for itself. I'm so excited to walk around with her art on my arm forever. Whether it's with Mari or with someone else at the studio, I am certain you'll be in great hands!
Wow - what can I say about Earth Altar Studio?? I don't think I can put all of my thoughts into words, this shop exceeds expectations and offers creative, friendly, personalized, and compassionate service. From the messaging back and forth, to reception and check in interactions, the the artists that work there, I've never felt so welcomed and so supported in a tattoo space. Emma is an absolute peach with a beautiful, kind soul and she goes above and beyond every single time I come in or email with her to schedule an appointment. She gives off such amazing energy and is a bright smiling face to ease any nerves you might have! Vickie is hands down my favorite tattoo artist in the world. Talk about pure talent and creativity, her gorgeous floral style will blow you away. I'm coming in again soon to finish the partial half sleeve in my photo, and when I do I have no doubts she will bring my ideas to life flawlessly. Had the pleasure of getting my first tattoo done by Justine! Going in I was a little nervous because it was a completely new experience, however my nerves were instantly calmed after meeting justine. She offered some water which I was happy to receive, and showed me the design she had been working on for my tattoo. I was very happy abt how the design came out, it was pretty spot on with what I described to her during the consultation! Like I said it was my first tattoo experience so I was really trying to take it all in, here are a few things I noticed while getting tattooed: 1. The shop was really clean, like super duper clean which was really comforting to see. 2. Justine has an extremely soft hand I legit fell asleep at one point and my tattoo was in upper chest/shoulder area which I would imagine is not the easiest place (pain wise) to get tatted. 3. Justine had a bunch of really cool art she had either just finished or was currently working on around the studio and some chill music playing. The art was cool to look at while on the table. 4. I've heard that some tattoo tables can be pretty uncomfortable, the ones here are super comfy imo!
Very happy with my tattoo with Mari from Earth Altar. The atmosphere and general feeling in the shop was super welcoming and professional. The giant monstera plant is amazing. I scheduled this app a month ago and Mari was very attentive and and flexible with scheduling. Mari was always making sure I was alright, if I needed anything, a break, water, questions or thoughts along the way. I was very confident with her work and love how this turned out. After my wonderful first experience back in 2019, I knew if I wanted a floral tattoo piece in the future, I wanted to return to Earth Altar Studio for Vickie, and that's exactly what I did! Vickie's books reopened and I sent in my request form in hopes of a response. Later that week, Vickie got back to me! I was able to schedule an appointment and was incredibly excited to see her again and return to this studio. I was greeted by Emma, who is such a welcoming and sweet soul! Vickie remembered me as well. My session in April was about 6 hours long and was the longest session I have ever experienced. This was the biggest tattoo piece I have ever gotten too. Vickie was so incredibly patient and understanding when I asked for breaks and additional application of the numbing spray. She also offered to schedule me a second session, if I felt like my body has reached its limit for the day. I was able to push through, and the piece came out beautiful! I have received many compliments. After I was done with the session, Emma offered to escort me back to my car as I was starting to feel sore, which was so kind of her! I was able to walk just fine. She reassured me that if I had any questions, do not hesitate to email her with any questions I had about the healing process. I came home and questions came to mind, so I contacted her and she responded very quickly! I really appreciate her kind heart. Fast forward 2 1/2 months later, and Vickie's books reopened. I wanted to extend my hip/thigh floral piece by her further down my thigh. I sent in another request and was so grateful that she wanted to work with me again this soon! I was greeted by Emma again, and she remembered me from our first encounter in April! I absolutely love Emma's energy. My session this time was about 3 hours long. Vickie did a wonderful job! The additional flowers and monarch butterfly look like they were always on me. I really appreciate Vickie for working with me again! I am absolutely in love with my entire floral piece! I can't recommend this tattoo studio enough! From the ambiance, music (I recognized so many songs while I was getting tattooed, which made me feel at ease during my sessions), and excellent customer service, it's a wonderful place to get tattooed!
This review has been a looooong time coming. The incredible tattoo mage Justine has been my tattoo artist since 2020. My experiences with her for my full arm art, which btw was the first time I've ever let a tattoo artist free hand their design to my super healing forearm tattoo that she allowed me my artistic input so it was like we created it together, has fulfilled and healed my heart and spirit in invaluable ways. I had been insta stalking her amazing art for years before I pulled the trigger, when she had an amazing special, where I could also gift someone a magical tattoo experience as well as have my own. The experience started with getting to know one another and then Justine guided me through a peaceful meditation. The visions and feelings she got through connecting with me in that intimate heart moment was the basis for her design she free handed on my arm. Usually I'm someone who needs complete control of the tattoo. Trusting Justine to do what she does best while I closed my eyes in trust was an elevation of my being in this lifetime. Justine truly put me in such a safe, creative and loving space and gifted me what I call my magical wand "aka my new sleeve tattoo" Even 5yrs later I still marvel at the story of my life on my arm wand, that was and will be, that seems to evolve with me through the birth of all my two daughters and now my third and all the self revelations and growths. My healing forearm tattoo came at a time where I happened to see her post about a special tattoo event she was hosting at her studio. It was such a serendipitous moment as I had just discovered news about my biological mother that sent my heart plummeting and my spirit in disarray and I had been feeling the need for another session with Justine. Having the opportunity for Justine to take artistic input from me and empathising with my rather heavy energy at the time meant the world to me. We created a magical and healing piece that reminds me of my biological/adoptive story and the power I've enveloped to be the end of my generational trauma and my capacity to utilise my trauma into tools to be the best me for me. Some people are there to envelope and guide you on your journey and for me Justine and her tattoo and self magic is one of those gifts for me. Not only does Justine always strive to grow and give through giving tattoos but she is also dedicated to helping other artists embrace and focus their artistic talents to live their best life through all her programs and workshops. I cannot recommend Justine enough. She was by far the best tattoo artist I've ever worked with. she was patient, collaborative, and brought my idea to life - in ways better than I could imagine. She made the space so comfortable and safe, she is absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to go back to her! Vickie remembered me as well. My session in April was about 6 hours long and was the longest session I have ever experienced. This was the biggest tattoo piece I have ever gotten too. Vickie was so incredibly patient and understanding when I asked for breaks and additional application of the numbing spray. She also offered to schedule me a second session, if I felt like my body has reached its limit for the day. I was able to push through, and the piece came out beautiful! I have received many compliments. After I was done with the session, Emma offered to escort me back to my car as I was starting to feel sore, which was so kind of her! I was able to walk just fine. She reassured me that if I had any questions, do not hesitate to email her with any questions I had about the healing process. I came home and questions came to mind, so I contacted her and she responded very quickly! I really appreciate her kind heart. Fast forward 2 1/2 months later, and Vickie's books reopened. I wanted to extend my hip/thigh floral piece by her further down my thigh. I sent in another request and was so grateful that she wanted to work with me again this soon! I was greeted by Emma again, and she remembered me from our first encounter in April! I absolutely love Emma's energy. My session this time was about 3 hours long. Vickie did a wonderful job! The additional flowers and monarch butterfly look like they were always on me. I really appreciate Vickie for working with me again! I am absolutely in love with my entire floral piece! I can't recommend this tattoo studio enough! From the ambiance, music (I recognized so many songs while I was getting tattooed, which made me feel at ease during my sessions), and excellent customer service, it's a wonderful place to get tattooed! read more

Got my first tattoo here with Mari, and she is fantastic!! She was super nice and a great conversationalist, and she was just so incredibly thoughtful with making sure I got what I was wanting and that we got the right placement. I didn't feel rushed at *all* and felt like I really couldn't have asked for a better first tattoo experience. She was so supportive through the process and was also very open about the ink used and ingredients (since I wanted to make sure the ink was vegan ahead of time). I also felt that the rate charged was very reasonable, especially considering how effortless the process was as a client! I've already had a couple of tattoos. All done from different tattoo artist as each had different meaning. My cousin and best friend had recently passed away this summer. As part of my celebration of her life, I wanted to commemorate her and how much she meant to me with a tattoo. Being both Scorpios, I wanted a Picasso style singular line scorpion with two tails. Minimal but with a special meaning. After seeing some works done by the studio on Instagram. I was intrigued and contacted them. After back and forth email conversation of my idea with Siobhan , I was confident that he will be able to create this tattoo and reserved my appointment. Once there I was greeted warmly and the space itself had a great calm energy. Unlike the other tattoo studios I've been in. The aesthetic was clean and minimal . What can I say, Thank You Justine I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity for this amazing intuitive tattoo. I got to know Justine a little better during the pandemic, and if I hadn't already been in love with her art, I was doubly so after getting the opportunity to talk with her about art and creating and connecting with your passion. I was shocked beyond belief when my husband and friends gifted me this tattoo experience for Yule of 2020. Of course, the studio wasn't open yet, but I was more than happy to patiently wait. And then I kept waiting for "the right time" to book. I wanted to be in better shape, feel more fit... blah blah blah. I put it off. But then I realized the disservice I was doing my body by not honoring it in its current form. After all, it got me through some of the most uncertain times we've had. Today was my love letter to my body, where we've been and the work we'll embark on. Justine honored my wishes to incorporate a previous piece and do it in white ink. She has a beautiful, gentle soul and an equally gentle hand. The work is stunning and I can't wait for it to heal. There are so many subtle details that you can't see just yet, especially with the clear bandage on (that's what makes the bubbles). The studio is beautiful and clean with amazing energy and Emma who greets you and handles the booking is an absolute ray of sunshine . If you are looking for the BEST tattoo experience in the LA area, look no further! Earth Altar Studio has got to be the best. Hands down. I've spent many hours here and am always sad to leave! You are warmly greeted by Emma at the front each time as she checks you in and prepares any paperwork. It's all done on a tablet and is super convenient. The vibe of the studio is so calming, cool and friendly. Everything is clean, professional and dare I say, cute? Well, it is. SO cute. I have had the privilege of getting pieces done by Mari, Jessie and Emma T! Each one is such a unique and talented artist. Be sure to follow them on IG and follow each artist as well. For reference I have numerous tattoos and have had numerous tattoo artists out their work on me. But the conversation and atmosphere at Earth Altar was an experience I cannot compare anything to. Mary is a sweetheart, and if you ever are lucky enough to have her tattoo you you will not regret it. Mary did my first ever stick and poke tattoo, and she put her love and energy into it. She was very assuring, constantly asking questions, making conversation, and providing a delightful experience. I definitely plan on making Earth Altar my main location for getting tattoos. It took few back and forth emails with Emma to finally lock down a final date for my session with Siobhan but I did not expect to rush specially something like a tattoo. They were very accommodating to give me a great first tattoo experience. I was able to work with Siobhan and could not be any happier with the final piece. Sent him an email with some reference photos of what I had in mind including some of his old work for reference. He was able to translate exactly what I wanted. Studio is so chill. Upon entering the studio is to the left featuring custom painted canvases that bring a beautiful cool toned vibe to the space. The studio is clean and simple aesthetically, making it a very relaxing place to get work done. To the right is a lounge with water and tea that you can chill in while you fill out your new client paperwork. I got a spooky flash design done by Mia LaCascia and it was such a fun experience, she made some subtle changes to the flash for my preferences and made sure I loved the design, size, and placement. I did it was so cute! Mia has a warm vibe and a gentle hand, I could have taken a nap if there wasn't good conversation being had. Justine, the owner, checked in and made sure myself and my partner were cozy, loved the work, and answered some questions I had about future work. So excited that I found this shop and artists! Mia has a quirky, cutesy style and I can't wait to see what more she comes up with. She actually picked the placement of my tattoo and I couldn't love it more, feels like it was meant to be where it is. It's worth noting that this shop is on the fourth floor, past a doorman, and all the artists I saw were women. Mickey pierced my infant's ears a few weeks back and I cannot say enough good things about her or our experience. After scouring the internet for somewhere to pierce my daughter's ears I came across Mickey who had hundreds of 5 star reviews. After driving from Orange County I knew right away I had made the right choice. From the minute I arrived Mickey greeted me and my baby and put my nerves at ease. She allowed me to nurse as she pierced my daughter's ears, which helped keep my daughter distracted. The process was sanitary, safe, and overall positive. For anybody looking to have their infant's ears pierced I would absolutely recommend Mickey. read more

It was my first tattoo, so I was nervous and unsure about how the whole process would take place. However, I simply filled out a form that was very straight forward, and the studio emailed me back so quickly, I was able to book an appointment, send in a security deposit, and maintain communication with Vickie so seamlessly. The day of, every member of the staff was so kind and welcoming. I met Vickie and saw what she'd created based off my vague description. She had considered details I hadn't thought of before to incorporate into the design, and I absolutely loved what she'd come up with. While it was definitely new, and a bit of a drive for me to get here, I don't regret a thing. I really enjoyed my experience here! This review is long overdue! Absolutely 5/5 stars! Vickie was my artist, and she's amazing! I came to this studio almost a year ago today. I've visited four tattoo studios before coming here, and Earth Altar is the most professional, kind, and organized one I've been to. Seriously, their appointment system is THE most concise I've experienced! I had a coverup done beautifully by Vickie. I'm so thankful for my experience because I struggled to find the right artist to help me do a coverup and who does florals, and Vickie was the perfect expert to come to. I was nervous about getting my first tattoo with my mom and wanted to find a place and an artist that would are me feel calm and relaxed. From the very first email inquiry the staff was kind and welcoming and put me at ease. Siobhan was patient and gentle and I actually felt completely zen during the entire tattoo. Vickie's work is simply unparalleled! She was an absolute delight to work with and couldn't have done a better job. I came with a group of 4 and she blocked out extra time so that we could have this experience together. I cannot wait to come back! Emma is also a total gem behind the front desk. She elevates the experience to newer and more personal heights. We all agreed after our appointments that Emma could easily be our new best friend! Overall, our experience was unforgettable.
