I bought a jacket from this location and the fit was a bit off but I liked the style so they ordered the next larger size and had it delivered for me the next day to the store. I went to pick it up and tried it on it was bigger but still wasn't perfect. I had already paid so I decided to take it. I came back the next day to return it because I didn't like the fit and they convinced me to take the smaller one. Now after 2 days of not wearing it and trying it on the fit just isn't right and when I went to return it they accused me of wearing the jacket and would not issue a refund. I understand why strict return policies are put in place, but any store with an ounce of customer service should know where to draw the line and take each case on its own. I liked the style of this store but after the experience of them keeping my money hostage, they lost a customer and I will tell everyone I can how terrible this company is. read more

While walking around Soho, a place where I frequently shop, I spotted this store and decided to walk in. Right away, a sales person was on me like white on rice. Pointing out every single item in the store. I was the only customer so maybe business was slow and I understand that the sales people are there to HELP you with your purchase but I felt pressured into purchasing something. Usually the statement "I'm just looking" gets them off your back so you can look around in peace, but it didn't work with this guy. The sales person pointed out all the different jeans and where they were made and the type of denim. One pair of jeans that looked and felt identical to a pair of jeans I brought in Kenneth Cole were praised because they were supposedly japanese denim. After a few minutes of looking around with the sales guy breathing down my back, I decided to purchase the jeans just for the hell of if. None of the clothes had a price tag, which should have tipped me off, but I almost fell over when a single pair of jeans was $408. Now, I probably spend more than I should on jeans (mostly $40-$100) but $408 was far out of my price range, especially from a store/designer I never heard of and when the jeans don't look or feel any different than Kenneth Cole (average price being $60) or A/X (average price being $80) Needless to say, thanks to the pressure given to customers by sales associates and the nonsense prices, I won't be returning to the store. read more

This business is committing outright fraud against customers. I have contacted the consumer protection bureau, as have several others I have found online with a story like mine. I had a tuxedo fitted here in early January (for my wedding!) and I was charged $1,800. I was told to pick up the suit on February 15, at which time they told me a mix-up had occurred, and the alterations had not been made. Troubling as this was, I accepted that accidents happen and believed their promise that I'd have the suit in two weeks. On March 1st I returned to the store and the same people acted as if they'd never seen me before. Needless to say, I showed my receipt and requested a refund. They told me to come back the following day when the owner was present. I did, and he wasn't. The store then closed for over three months due to COVID. I've since been back 6 times (they don't pick up the phone), each time receiving the same response - only the owner can process a refund (what??), and they'll pass along the message to him. Make no mistake - this is a crime. I plan to file a police report in the coming week. read more

I keep getting compliments on the stuff I bought (suit and 2 shirts) they look crisp and expensive and the quality is superb. Definitely worth the price! read more

Stopped in on Soho this weekend. The men's dress shirts were unique, definitely European inspired. The clothes fit just right, as a runner sometimes I have a hard time finding clothing... but this store just fit me right off the rack. When I walked into the store, I heard the owner screaming at one of his employees downstairs (for not having the previous customer "try on" at least "2" items while in his store - Apparently, THAT is the "rule"). He called the guy a VERY mean, disgusting name - It made me sick. I felt so terrible for the guy because then he had to come upstairs to help the rest of the customers (who, also, heard all the screaming) - I wanted to walk out right there (I think "we' all did), but didn't because we felt so bad for the sales guy, he was humiliated "Unique" is not a word I'd use to describe the menswear at Ari Soho. Everything in this guys store can be found in every department store coast to coast, and for worlds cheaper - Don't bother with the store, it's not worth it. Pricing is ridiculous relative to his "ordinary" designs. ...His BIG sell pitch is: "Everything is Made in Italy." However, just because something is "made in Italy," doesn't mean it's a differentiator of any kind. And it certainly doesn't make "ordinary" designs "extraordinary" by any means. Worst Shopping Experience Ever! - $400 of Clothes Ruined during Alteration by the Store - Refund or Exchange Refused Synopsis of complaint: I purchased $400 worth of clothes, the store arranged for alterations, the clothes came bak destroyed (read "clown-sized"). While wearing the shirt, I couldn't raise my arms above my waist because the shirt sleeves were so short. The sales person and owner both told me that I do not need to raise my arms above my waist, that I look odd with my arms raised, that my complaint was absurd, and that they would issue no refund, exchange, or remedy. I highly recommend avoiding this store! Please read below for full details. Other than the store essentially stealing $400 from me, the whole thing was actually quite a comical scenario. Detailed Description: I've been a customer of ARI for 4 years. I've purchased multiple shirts and jeans, all of which have required the sleeves or pant legs to be shortened. ARI staff takes measurements and sends them out for alternations. In the past I've had no problems. This time, I purchased a shirt and pair of jeans for a total of $400. The sales person, James, took measurements, I paid for them in full, and they were sent out by ARI for alteration. After picking them up, the shirt sleeves were too short and the pant legs were too short. So short that the shirt was literally unwearable. When my arms were down by my sides, they came to my wrist and looked fine. However, normally shirt sleeves have a little extra length to allow for motion. Indeed, the shirt sleeves were hemmed so short, that I could not raise my arms above waist level. The cuff would slide down my arm, to the point where it could no longer slide, and my arm was stuck from moving any further. If I unbuttoned a cuff, the shirt sleeves would rise up to literally the middle of my forearm. They were obviously short. The jeans were also too short, but I was kicked out of the store before we could even discuss them.. I returned to show the clothes to the sales person, James, who had helped me purchase them and who took the measurements for shortening. I showed him the problem, and he told me that they looked fine to him. When I showed him that I couldn't raise my arms, he asked me why I kept raising my arms. He kept asking, "who raises their arms?" When he asked, "why would you want to raise my arms?" I offered the example of hailing a taxi. He told me that I looked "funny" with my arms raised, and again claimed it was an unnecessary motion. He told me they looked fine when my arms were at my side, and that should be sufficient. I was shocked with the absurdity of his claim, as I feel that raising my arms is a natural occurrence within my day - actually quite necessary. I've also purchased many shirts in my lifetime, some from ARI, and I can raise my arms in all of them. He told me he wouldn't return or exchange the shirt because the length was fine, and that I would have to speak with the owner, Moishe. I returned a little later when the owner was in. He also told me that the length was fine. He also asked me why I would want to raise my arms. When I offered the same example of hailing a taxi, he also told me I looked strange with my arms raised, and told me no one hails cabs with their arms these days - he proceeded to demonstrate how I could hail a taxi with my arms below my waist: using a smartphone app. I told him that I had previously purchased 5 shirts from the store, all of which had been altered, all of which allows a full range of arm motion, and all of which I would be happy to bring in as an example of a properly tailed shirt. I also mentioned that I've been wearing shirts my whole life, and I've never had one that fit so poorly. The owner told me I was being both ridiculous and unreasonable and insisted that the shirt was fine. The conversation escalated to shouting on both sides. He told me that he would not make a return or exchange for the shirt, that I shouldn't expect to raise my arms while wearing the shirt, that I don't need to raise my arms in general, that he has been in the business for a long time, that I have no expertise to tell him the shirt was altered incorrectly, and that my complaint was absurd. He told me he had 4 children, only had a little bit of time to spend in the store, and had no intention of wasting an more of his time to listen further with my complaint. He cut off the conversation, and I really had no further course of action. It turned out that it's quite difficult to formulate an effective line of reasoning for a complaint when the other party involved refuses to acknowledge that a proper fitting shirt should allow for arms to raise above the waist. We didn't even get to the jeans - I was able to walk in them, so how could I complain? read more

Men's apparel, mostly staple and classic items in very high end materials. My favorites are the outerwear pieces, very clean but still different enough that people will notice, always made with unbelievably soft wool/cashmere. If you're tired of the same old big marketing brand names, ARI is a good choice. Everything, literally everything, is made in Italy. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. What a horrid experience! The customer service from the actual sales associates was incredible, no complaints there. However, the owner of the establishment is a complete dick. I have never felt so pressured in my life, and the way he yelled at the sales associate made me very uncomfortable. After countless times telling him that I was just looking, he continued to push product on me. I felt so bad for the girl working there, she just stood there staring at our interaction and could tell I had reached my limit. I finally managed to get him off of me, but couldn't help overhear how nasty he was towards her. There was another sales person there but he seemed to treat him much better. This man shouldn't own a business, he is a misogynist pig and it didn't take long to see how differently he responded to her than the young man. I would NEVER go back to this place or recommend it!! read more
