The owner came to our home and gave us a price that was fair. On moving day the 4 workers were hard working and knowledgeable. It took 7 hours for a two -mile move. The foreman on the job actually told us it was 7 hours. I was initially impressed, except one portable storage cupboard was left behind. We were told that a worker would come the next day to move it, but that didn't happen, and no one called. Hmmmmm. I knew then that something wasn't right. After a few calls the owner said that there were 5 men on the job (not true), and he also quoted a higher price per hour to justify the $315 overcharge. If you are planning a move, be sure to have a written agreement ahead of time as far as price per hour, number of workers, and any other essential details. read more

The moving part was good, the fact that my wedding rings as well as 2 others were stolen horrible. Police and detective involved and are pursuing the felony theft. The detective suggested we also call the company.... we did and spoke to John who states he is one of the owners. We were treated horribly by John, who had absolutely no concern that his staff did this. The detective updated me today 10/19 that none of the three movers will return his calls to discuss the theft. read more

Probably should have a separate post for the Argo resale section. I didn't use the rental company. I did however buy an amazing couch from these guys. They have a front shop and thennnn the back of the shop is what's good. Couch selection is excellent, also used table and chairs, other gadgets as well. They get things in good clean shape before you buy them unlike other resale shops. However, I live pretty close to the place and they still had a steep price to rent a truck for 10 minutes to move the couch. So don't expect the moving part to come easy (does it ever :) read more

So this one went back and forth. Bottom line end I will say my move was completed and they didn't break anything, but the crew leader guy was fairly rude and there was a discrepancy on pricing regarding the start time. I was told 8AM, by both people I spoke with, and later I was told, really it's about what time they leave the office. And I was Charged for that discrepancy. Now when I first booked with them, for an 8AM move, which was noted by myself and Dan, I was then told, you know, we have another move to get to quickly after that, let's just throw in another guy at the same rate so we can get to the next move quickly. Ok. However, I ended up having to cancel shortly before the start of the move, and apologized, letting him know what had happened. I asked to reschedule, or get put on a cancellation list. Later, Justin let me know that he was pretty sure they could fit me in on another day, and they would call between this time frame to do the move. Same pricing, three movers. I called towards the end of that time frame that day and he said right away that he couldn't get ahold of the movers, he was hoping that they had called me. So that one didn't work. One last time, Argo called one day and said they could schedule me for a move the next day, at 8AM, and I said I would see them there. But at the end of the move I was told that the billing started at 7:45, it was "dock to dock." That's just the way it was done. I explained that was not what I was told. But fine, I would call the office, the move was over, everyone had to go. Then the office said, politely, they were sure someone had told me, which they hadn't - The move had always been set up for 8AM. The billing and pricing had always been set up for 8AM. We moved almost 200 miles from the QC and had zero problems from these movers! On initial call we made an appt. with Dan to evaluate our belongings and provide a quote ( which was not altered, no changes from original quote ever occurred after move). After receiving a very competitive rate we chose Argo movers. On moving day, 4 very pleasant, efficient and courteous young men arrived on time and proceeded to move everything ( from 2 different locations too) with military precision. There was more than adequate space in the moving trucks despite what I had read in previous reviews. All items arrived in perfect condition. They had wrapped all non boxed items in moving blankets and plastic. Then moved each item to its new location and did this once again in a timely, efficient manner. My wife and I are both veterans. We hired Argo to pack our household goods for our move back to the east coast. Although very efficient in their method of packing the 2 ABF trailers their haphazard approach and non existent attention to detail resulted in a very expensive office desk being damaged beyond repair, and a brand new trek mountain bike frame bent and Destroyed. The movers took it upon themselves to disassemble all 4 of our bicycles and stack them on top of each other with no barrier between them. Once our household goods arrived at our new home we discovered the Damage and contacted Argo. I was informed that we did not purchase moving blankets and didn't provide the movers with anything to protect our property, and they're not responsible for any damage. On the contrary, I provided the packers with as much 1/4" thick card board, plastic wrap and very thick yoga type mats as they needed and offered to go buy moving blankets; they informed me that moving blankets were not necessary since they had the other materials to use. Argo and moving staffers will not accept responsibility for the damage. And informed me that we declined any "additional coverage"; we were never offered such additional coverage. If you do not value your personal belongings and are just looking for a quick move; use these guys. If you don't want the added stress of damaged property on top of the stress of moving, i would look for other movers/packers. I would not recommend either company for your move. read more

They marked up my walls and doorways terribly! It looked like they didn't even care that they were running into walls. They dropped a lamp on a table and gouged it up. Everything was noted on the moving slip and they said they would take care of it but I never heard from them. I called them and they said they would have someone contact me about fixing my stuff, which took a week just for them to get back to me. When the guy showed up to fix everything he patched up the walls but didn't sand anything down so then I had white plaster marks all over that needed to be sanded and painted. He said the doorways couldn't be patched and that I should just paint over the gouges and you can still clearly see the gouges in my table. read more

I used Argo Movers in July 2012 with satisfactory results, except that they showed up at my house with a moving van too small to fit all my furniture at one time. I didn't think anything of that until this year when I hired them again to move me from my apartment to my house. Once again, they showed up in a van too small to move all my furniture. I believe this is a gimmick they use to take too much time to complete the move and be able to charge customers more money. This year I moved many of my belongings myself, so they wouldn't have so much to move but they still took over 6 hours to move me out of a 1,000 square foot apartment to a 1,000 square foot house. Buyer beware when they show up in a small van to move you. read more
