If you live in Burnaby and you have a pest problem look no further than Knockout Pest Control…read more Ryan has helped me for over 10 years with everything from ants to raccoons and he knows his stuff. He is very thorough. At one house I had squirrels in my attic and while the previous owner had another company block most of the entry points they missed some and Ryan solved the problem and installed a one way door so the squirrels could not get back in once they left. The previous owner used poison and that left a few dead carcasses in the attic. As import as being good is, just as import is being honest. Ryan will only recommend and do what is needed. If there is another trade like a roofer that can fix a problem better than him, he will recommend that - this is being honest and recommending to customers what is best for them. I could not recommend Knockout Pest Control more!

"Just imagine flying first class but paying economy" is the best way to describe Knockout Pest…read moreControl. Not only does Ryan KO the competition with price (I got quotes that were 30% to over 100% more), but he also KOs the competition in service and professionalism. I called Ryan around 10 AM and told him where I live. He said he could be at my place between 12-1 PM. Ryan showed up at 12:15 PM--right on time. Outside my front door, he could see over 30 yellow jacket (very aggressive) wasps flying everywhere and the nest is somewhere in between the walls. Ryan didn't do any bait-and-switch or upselling--just some friendly conversation before getting to work. After the first treatment, he noticed wasps inside the house (through the window) and asked if he could go inside to assess the situation. He instantly spotted a small hole in the ceiling and said, "That's how the wasps are getting inside." He sprayed insecticide in the ceiling hole and explained that's where the wasp nest was located. We went back outside, where Ryan was eliminating the last few wasps, when he said, "Wow! You've got three wasp and one carpenter ant." He explained this was unusual because wasps and ants don't typically coexist. Ryan went to his truck and returned to address my ant issue. While he was spraying the beam, I asked for a quote to handle the ant problem. He said there was a chance that his current treatment might eliminate the ant nest, and if so, it would be free. Ryan then spent another 10 minutes explaining his approach to tackle the ant issue--essentially teaching me what to do. He concluded by saying if I still needed help with the carpenter ants, I should call him. Like most people, I read reviews not only to find the best price but to find someone I can trust. You can trust Ryan like the person who does your hair. For most people, calling an exterminator isn't common, so finding a trustworthy one is difficult. Put all that fear to rest--Ryan will give you a very reasonable quote with no upcharges and will get the job done. I even had to beg Ryan to please accept a tip from me, cause he did so much work and charge so little. BTW, my wasps issues was resolved by 1:30PM (under 2 hours) and I can use my front door again. Thank you Ryan.

We reached out to Humane Solutions after having tried and failed to deal with our mouse problem…read more Our solution of blocking openings under sinks and having bait boxes outside the house worked for about 3 months but as we went from summer to fall and we removed the bait boxes, they found their way in again. We originally didn't find any companies that could offer much more than what we did ourselves, which is why I was discouraged to see the return of the mice. What would they do now that we hadn't done, except reintroduce bait boxes and only guarantee their work for 3 months? At $500/3 months that wasn't much of a solution. I came across HS in a google search. After speaking to them over the phone I was so hopeful. They were very patient explaining what they did, why and how it would work. They don't have a warranty or a guarantee on being pest free persay, but the goal is permanent pest proofing - it's just hard to guarantee under one original quote when these pests are so tricky. I was worried about the lack of written guarantee, but they reassured me that they wouldn't quit until we were mice free. It's hard to take a business on their word, but boy was their word tested to the extreme and they got an A+. November they came and did the original pest proofing. We took a risk going against what Human Solutions said about examining the whole house (everything but the front porch due to repair costs) but felt confident we'd be okay. So we were pest free for about 3 weeks, saw nothing and started to feel better in December. Until we saw a mouse again. They sent another tech (fresh eyes) to examine the house and make sure nothing was missed. They didn't find anything that visit, but we still continued seeing activity. Now the porch was starting to bug all of us and HS suggested that be our next check if we continued to see mice. Fast forward a bit and we decided to pull up a board on our front steps so we could look under and lo and behold, we (the idiots) had drilled a hole to run a wire from our garage out to the other side of the patio. And we did not seal it. Total moron moment. By this time the mice had everything they needed, a mouse highway (along that wire) in a hidden dark alcove, access to bird food and mouse bait in our garage, and free run of the house via that hole in the wall. Mind you this was winter too, so they definitely wanted to be warm. HS came out again and took care of it. We felt better - terrified of what was still trapped inside but feeling like maybe we would be home free soon. Not quite. We still had activity in the house, very minor, but we still had some. Apparently the tech who sealed the big glaring hole missed two very hard to see, very impossible to reach and very tricky holes that were behind tar paper (I don't blame them - the two holes were not typical mouse access points). Their most experienced tech, who is also the owner, came out and found the 2 impossible holes. He also explained that once they have really nice access to your home, they are a lot more persistent to keep looking for a hole to exploit and that's exactly what happened. In the end, we've been pest free for months now, only paid the original quoted fee plus a small service fee that was beyond the free checks they provided and did not pay for the final visit which was technically an "error" missed by the tech. After 18 years of living in this home and never having an issue, this was downright traumatizing. I wish I had known about HS back when we first noticed activity. I also wish we had decided to remove the front decking at the same time we had the whole house inspected. It would have prevented the mice from becoming so familiar with our home and moving in. We will never live in a home that we haven't had HS come and pest proof. Why live with that worry when you have HS willing to tackle such a difficult problem and get permanet results. No need to pay monthly for pest control - please don't until after you speak to HS. Most likely you will get better results that costs you less money in the long run.

Also note that their guarantee is also the shortest compared to its competitor. We had a squirrel issue many years ago. We hired AAA Wildlife. They got rid of the issue but 2 years later, the squirrels came back. Unfortunately the guarantee is over. Their website says a longer date but the materials are only one year. So 2 years later, we had the squirrels issue again, they came and they said materials are only one year. The materials all came from AAA Wildlife. At the end of the day, we got their competitor to come in and it was way cheaper and their competitor was offering 5 years guarantee on materials and pest free.

Reading through reviews we came across AAA Wildlife Control. Their website promised a 10 year guarantee of their services and we liked how they would handle the squirrels in a humane way with the one-way door. It was within a day that we could already tell the squirrels were gone and it's been a few weeks and we have heard nothing since. The service was quick, painless on our part, maybe pricey but we feel good about making sure the animals were treated well without separating the mom from her young. All around would recommend and hopefully with the deodorizing we don't have another need to call anytime soon!
