After seeing this company had been installing multiple roofs in our neighborhood I asked around and heard great feedback so I gave them a call. Juan was very responsive and gave a fair quote, so combined with the many positive referrals we hired him to replace our old roof. They started our roof on a Monday and finished on Friday - turns out we actually had 2 roofs they had to tear off which turned it into a much larger job, especially considering one side of our roof is steeply sloped. All of the workers were friendly, helpful and did a great job. They arrived about the same time each morning and worked hard all day. We had a hard time choosing a roof color (they use GAF Timberline RS) and we ended up going with Sagewood. We are so pleased with our new roof and how Juan and his team went above and beyond to do a great job. We highly recommend them. read more

We had a tree fall on our roof and puncture roof during a snow storm. Juan came out the day after I called him and quickly repaired the roof in between storms. It was not an easy job because, while the hole was relatively small, there was 3 feet of snow on the roof that needed to be cleared to access the repair area. Our roof was in serious need of replacement being nearly 10 years over its stated lifetime. We received some seriously expensive estimates from a couple of large roofing companies. One did not even respond in person but gave us an estimate based on satellite images! A friend recommended I call Juan at Arete Roofing. Now my experience with contractors, especially in Amador county has been that you find yourself lucky if they even call you back. Juan is by far the best contractor I have ever dealt with. I called in the morning and left a message and he called me back that afternoon. Having an extra hour of time, he came by that evening and surveyed the entire roof. He felt that it might take him a few days to complete his estimate however 24 hours later he had an estimate on removing and replacing my entire roof not only on our house but on our barn as well. Juan stated that he could start the following Tuesday. Did he show up on time? No, he was EARLY! Truly the exception for a contractor. He and his assistant had the old roof removed promptly taking all the waste material to the dump. Within 3 days we had a whole new 30-year roof on the house and a new barn roof as well including replacing some of the plywood panels beneath. They then did a thorough cleanup of the entire yard and drive. And his price beat anyone else's estimate by far. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is RELIABLE. read more

I have never had to have a roof place on my house before and was a bit intimidated by some of the roofing contractors that I had called. It was their way or the highway. Arete Roofing was recommended to me by our housing insurance company. I made an appointment for Juan to come out and look over my roof and he arrived on time with everything needed to give me a sound estimate. H even made a few suggestions that would improve the cooling of our house. Juan and his crew did a great job installing a metal roof on a garage my husband and I are building, and a shingle roof on a shed we're building. He always got back to me right away, kept me in good communication about scheduling and was flexible when we needed more time. He uses high quality materials and charges fair prices. He was able to come out and install the underlayment the same day we passed inspection on the nailing pattern. Normally that underlayment would be fine until the roofing comes in, but we live in a very high wind canyon and it blew off during a storm. Juan and his crew came out on short notice during a massive storm and helped my husband install tarps. They had to wrestle with gigantic tarps in 40 mph winds. But they got it done. Don't bother calling anyone else...Juan is terrific! From the very first email asking for a quote, to the last point of contact with him, he was nothing short of wonderful. We have a vacation home in Pioneer and visit only once or twice a month. He responded back to my email within hours and told me he'd be up to take a look at the job over the next few days. He did just that and was quick to get me a quote. I discussed the pricing over the phone and made a few adjustments. He sent me a contract via email with my changes, sent me a link to a website so I could have a choice of colors for my roof, I signed the contract and done! He kept me posted based on the weather forecast as to when he would be at our house. He gave me an update after the first day of work and kept us posted on the progress. When we got back up to Pioneer to see the work, it looked beautiful. Most importantly, there wasn't a bit of trash or debris left over. You wouldn't have even known someone was there working on the house. During the course of the job, one of our roof skylights broke. Not only did he call right away to let me know, but he taped it up temporarily while he tried to locate the same vent. While the part was being ordered, rain was forecasted. He made yet another trip up to the house just to put a tarp on the vent so we didn't have any leaks. He told me that the part came in and he'd be up over the weekend to fix it. He again did exactly as he said and everything is perfect. I called four other roofers while I was looking and only one called back with an estimate that was almost double than Juan. That roofer was trying to sell me on roofing material that Juan said only was used at really high elevations. Juan is a class act guy, extremely honest, punctual, and really helpful.
