This one is a long one...called around to get my box truck towed. Barbers towing said they could…read moretow my truck. Said they would have to unattach my driveshaft due to towing a heavy duty vehicle. Like okay i hear that, they unhook driveshaft and deliver to a discount tire 5 miles away due to my trucks front tire blowing in Milwaukee, thus needing the tow. When dropping it off the driver said discount tire can put it back on, i asked him if he knew that for certain or guessing. He shrugged...we paid then 50$ to unhook the driveshaft to then be told by the driver they cant hook it back up due to legality reasons....when we called the company back next morning asking them for a solution. The front desk lady told us that we lied about our vehicle size and that the cost shouldve been 800+. But we did tell them, texted them a picture and ALSO the driver wouldve "logically " tell us upon arrival that price would change or he cant due it because "we lied about our vehicle" (ill attach pictures of us texting them a picture of our rig). She continued to say that its common and all box truck owners know that upon towing the driveshaft would be unattached and would have to get it reattached on our own dime. Which thats not "common knowledge ". Wouldn't as a tow company, youd want to inform and educate your clients? They said we got a steal of a deal due to their new girl of one week "misquoting us". (Talk about poor management then)... I dont think 800+ for a single tow to then pay more money on top ($250) after the fact to make my truck DRIVEABLE again was "competitive ". Lesson learned only call if you have a small car!

On a Sunday afternoon they were out to the property within 20 mins of calling. They were faced with a 350 Dooley, dump trailer, and backhoe sliding down an embankment, due to wet muddy conditions, approx. 80ft away from pavement. 3 trucks later and and dealing with a difficult neighbor, they had all vehicles out and unscathed. We can't thank them enough!

If I could leave this company 0 stars I would do so. My husband and I purchased a car-a beat up…read moresuv for our son and it was located in a very shady part of Portland. We spent hours and hours trying to start the car that was advertised to "run and drive" before we finally accepted that we had to have it towed. We live in Sandy, OR and found ourselves stuck in Tigard, OR at 2 am not really wanting to leave the vehicle to get stripped or vandalized. Agreeing to go to a friends in Oregon City and call a towing company we left the vehicle where it was. We called several towing companies and finally got "Gus" from outlaw towing who seemed like an answer to our prayers. He not only said he would swoop us up but tow our vehicle all the way to our home in Sandy, OR for $140. we were so relieved. He came to Oregon City, picked up my husband and then they were on the way to Tigard. About 20 minutes later I get a very shaky call from my hubby that the driver had accused him of attempting to "set him up", pulled a pistol on him, cocked it and kicked him out of the truck leaving him stranded in Tigard with 5% battery on his cell and having left his $140 in the truck. I immediately msgd the driver asking what happened and my husband attempted to explain that "yes" the vehicle was in a very creepy part of the town and there were homeless camps around and it was dark but that is where it was parked when we bought it earlier that day and were unable to move or start the vehicle hence we employed him. He said that my husband was trying to set him up by going there and that he filed a police report. I was completely shocked, scared for my husband and then eventually angry, The driver said that the $140 was nowhere in his truck and that was what we "get" for trying to set up outlaw towing. Well sir, you, are the outlaw. the Portland police saying they can do nothing and now we are going to file a civil suit I just have ONE WARNING DO NOT EMPLOY THIS COMPANY and if you do, do so at your own peril.

If you can't guess from the professionalism displayed previously, I'll clue you in to what happened next. He ghosted me. I even called a 2nd time about an hour later and nobody answered. The towing company I called after did a great job. I won't bother trying with outlaw towing again.

However, I've driven several cars with this feature, and have never had an issue, until a few days ago. I picked up my Alamo rental from PDX, stopped somewhere on Alberta Street for lunch, and then proceeded to my Son's SW Portland home. After a couple short "show arounds", we piled in the car and despite my best push/press efforts, the car would not start. I called Alamo roadside service and within say 20 minutes a Ratherbe Towing truck showed up. He treated the situation initially like a jump, which didn't work although he showed a battery charge of 6%. He tried some other stuff, and only after positioning the key fob closest to the button, did the car start. And who knows whether that was causation or coincidence, especially when the Ratherbe technician was stumped at times. In any event, I really appreciated his hard work, diligence, and professional approach. I don't know what was actually wrong with starting this car, but that was enough for me to thank the guy and then proceed directly to Alamo PDX to get another car. In other words, there was no way I was going to trust this car to start again. Alamo eventually made things right and I appreciated their ability to put a service like Ratherbe Towing in front of me.

But of all the tows in my life, the service performed by the driver, Randy (or maybe it was Jason), stands out as one of the best customer service experiences.
