Lacey ..

This no-kill rescue has a 99% save rate, the ones she can't save were too far gone on arrival. I have never witnessed such passion for saving animals. The owner is an angel to every animal that comes in, her mission is finding them loving homes. Our two babies came from ARE, highly recommend supporting this shelter.

Came on a Wednesday around 4 to find that the rescue was close. I verified with the information online saying that they didn't close till 6. I went to the website for more information so that I might come again tomorrow but the website doesn't have any pertinent information. It's upsetting because they don't have voicemail set up to leave messages. It's a bit upsetting the lack of professionalism and really hurts the business since the customer can't access correct information.

Such a variety of cats! I adopted a sweet kitty who loves to play and the worker was so nice throughout the process of adopting and answering my questions. I really hope all these cats get a loving home, you can tell by the eyes that some went through a lot. I appreciate the volunteers who crochet blankets & they are so beautiful. Thank you for everything!

My wife and I adopted 3 kittys from ARE. They do a great job here. The staff is very caring, and I highly recommend them.

Act 2 Rescue - Celeste found her forever home!

Act 2 Rescue

Mindy provided a very personable, warm and extremely responsive service, made every effort to respond to my inquiry on Adopt-A-Pet and approving my application as well as just answering my questions and chatting with me about my potential cat baby's personality traits and his background story. She responded to emails as late as 11PM on a weekend and her demeanor was always welcoming and reassuring, like an old, caring friend. Mindy's words and actions convey that she truly truly love all of her rescued cat babies and she only wants what's best for them and she works extremely hard to find them good homes. I was very sad that neither cat babies from her rescue matched the particular personality I was looking for (I was trying to fill this big hole in my heart with the tragic loss of a stray cat named Cookie I cared for) and I really wished that given all the hard work she and her daughter put into, I'd adopt either Teddy or Khabib. Despite these big, affectionate sweet boys were not the best match I was searching for, I don't think any less of them, I sincerely hope they will find their forever home they deserve and I cannot be more grateful for Mindy's time, patience and understanding she's extended me and my family. If I had more capacity for an additional cat baby in the future after finding THE ONE, Mindy and her rescue is the first place I'd check out. If you are also searching for your feline soulmate, please look no further!!

Never heard back from them and we were ready to adopt immediately. Both myself and my daughter…read morecalled, (the "are too busy to care for kitties AND answer the phone, so please send a text"), so we texted, created an account online (because they want to know you're "actually serious" about adopting before you can even MEET the cat you're considering adopting.) (I do understand and respect prioritizing the mental health of the cats, but I'm sure the cats, especially the adults, would prefer a compromise, like being required to fill out a one page form on the spot before meeting). Every serious adopter that goes into a pet store and sees one of this organization's animals that they are interested in adopting and is told they have to go through this and this and this step before they can even interact with the cat and know if the personality is a fit. Everyone loses out. In my experience, even if you do go through all the steps, they won't call you back, and a cat that could have had a home I know had that opportunity taken from them because of the seemingly righteous or superior attitude of the rescue people. They surely know how many people go in and out of those cat and kitten rooms at the Animal Friends of the Valley shelter. Having a few people go in one at a time to meet one particular cat, I don't feel, is any more dangerous or unhealthy for the cat than them losing the opportunity to be adopted and eventually being put down. I just don't understand rescues like this. If you're too small to actually help, then let somebody else do it.

Having lost my Golden Retriever only a few months ago, I began searching for breeders that…read moredemonstrated great care for their dogs, produced very attractive puppies and were not focused on volume. After a taking a look at a number of breeders from websites in So Cal, Central California, and the Bay Area, and visiting others in person, my discouragement ended after communicating with Angie from Golden Retriever Buddies. My visit reinforced my initial positive impressions upon visiting their facility and meeting her in person. I was able to come home that same day with a handsome little pup. As others have already written, this breeder, Angie, demonstrated exceptional care for their puppies as shown by their pictures, the environment in which they were kept and the acute detail in documenting all vaccines administered. Moreover, Angie had shared that she limited how much he was fed to prevent car sickness for the drive home. Angie could not have been friendlier or more professional in facilitating the transition to being a new Golden Retriever puppy parent. Having had two other Goldens from breeders, Angie was the most professional and sincere with whom I've interacted. This breeder had amazingly top quality puppies that I would not hesitate to contact again for another pup. She is a real gem as are her puppies. If you are looking for a Golden, you won't need to look any further than Golden Retriever Buddies, they have quality great looking puppies that experience lots of TLC!

With her help in backing me up, I have a Wonderful White Akita girl. We named her Akemi Love and she has been a perfect addition to our family. She has a slow, sweet, steady personality which has a calming effect on our rescued high-anxiety German Shepherd Boy, Phoenix. I had adopted previously adopted a elderly Akita girl from A Passion for Paws, Asami. We loved her and treated her very well. We knew we wouldn't have her long and 3 years later, we were looking again for another Akita female. Akemi Love! I highly recommend A Passion for Paws to find your next dog, Akita or another wonderful dog. Cheryl Weatherford is in my Prayers everyday. We brought our other dog with us, an American Bulldog mix who is dog selective. It was important that we find a mellow male that would get along with our alpha female. Milo ended up being the perfect dog. He's half Akita and half German Shepard and was smart enough day one to know that Tigger would be the alpha. He knew right away how to get along with her. What is really amazing is that we have had rescued Akitas for over 20 years and during that time we've seen Akita rescues come and go in southern CA. A Passion for Paws has been around the longest. Probably at least 15 years. This shows they are a rescue that can be trusted. I highly recommend them.
