(It's really helpful to see handbags and purses in person so you can get a sense of the size and the feel but not many retailers sell Hammitts in this area.) Donna took one look at my face and said, "I have the perfect dress for you." I'm between 12-14 and am working through some insecurities, so when she said that, I said "yeah, right." Donna told me I deserved to feel delicious in my dress, so I tried it on. My God. I looked and felt like a mermaid Goddess. The dress is a beautiful mermaid/trumpet style gown that hugged my curves in all the right places (I'll update with pictures soon!). It was affordable and very well-made. Normally, I would've walked right by it. Thank God I listened to Donna's advice. She is honest, smart, so so stylish, and she sees and celebrates the beauty of everyone who walks into her boutique. The employees are always so nice and willing to help. I ordered a pair of jeans online and when they were delivered, I realized that they had a broken zipper. I didn't get around to making it to a Madewell store until after the 30 day return window, but given that the jeans were not usable, the ladies at the store were able to process my return with no issues. I ended up trying on a few more pairs of jeans when I was in the store and the employees were very candid about which ones stretch and which ones don't. They helped me find my perfect pair! Tip: if you bring in a pair of old jeans (regardless of where they are from or how expensive they are), they will give you a coupon for $20 off a new pair. The coupon is valid on clearance items and can be combined with any current discounts! You can even use the codes online and if you sign up to be a Madewell Insider, you get free 2 day shipping too!

Out of the few bridal shops I visited, Elizabeth John's definitely had the most versatile bridal gown options - I felt they had a good selection of simple, elegant, and timeless dresses. I also want to reiterate how absolutely amazing Sam was. My guests joining got a bit lost and I was overwhelmed by the situation - Sam went out of her way to make sure I was alright, and once they eventually got there, Sam made sure to focus the appointment on me and the dresses, and overall just made the whole experience so special and relaxed.

We came in on a Saturday to find a welcoming staff during an on-site event that was promoting a local non-profit, with a portion of proceeds benefiting them. They had snacks and beverages, including champagne, rose, beer, hot cider, and Spindrift. They also had a small kids table with coloring books and a ton of crayons. Not to mention the live music that was getting set up. The staff were helpful. Pointing out where some different options may be in the store, sizes, etc., and chatted about things we had in common (like our dogs -- oh yeah, they're dog friendly, btw, and even had milk bones for the doggos). They were never pushy even though we spent over an hour in the store. We eventually decided on a few pieces we liked and they easily checked us out without a fuss. I did notice that they also gift wrapped another person's purchase too. While the clothes may not be your style or may be inaccessible from a price point, they are very nice quality, look and feel great, and you'll be treated like a normal person assuming you treat them the same.
