We arrived about 15 minutes before closing, and I was impressed that the staff was still happy to serve us. They didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome, which I really appreciated. While I don't think they would have kicked us out, we decided to take our food to go out of courtesy. I ordered the two-piece halibut and fries along with my favorite drink -- a Lime Rickey. The food was excellent, and the service at the counter was friendly and helpful. Everything started out as a really positive experience. However, things took a strange turn that left me concerned. The combo I ordered was listed at $11.79, but my receipt showed a total of $15.98. That's a significant difference, which makes me wonder if there's either a huge upcharge for a Lime Rickey or if the sales tax was incorrectly applied. To make things even more confusing, I was given my Lime Rickey at the counter, and just before my food came out, an employee brought me a second one. They explained that it would just be thrown away unless I wanted it, so of course I said yes -- especially when they said it was at no charge. Unfortunately, when I checked my card later, I saw a second charge for $6 from their location. While the food and service were both great, the billing issue really soured the experience. I took my niece and nephew here to get ice cream cones (dipped in chocolate or Flavor-blasted are both options) or shakes to beat the summer heat. The chicken rings are also a classic! I have to admit, when I first started going to this Arctic Circle, it was over ten years ago and they were the only place in town with an indoor playground-I had a toddler that needed a place to play in the cold winter months. So we started going here frequently. Fast forward to that toddler being a teenager, and us living in another city; we don't go to this location very often. But recently, we found ourselves back at our roots and had the opportunity to enjoy a meal-via the drive through-from Arctic Circle. The food is always good, it's consistent across all locations and the service is usually a step or two above other fast food places. Whenever I see this particular location, I have a twinge of nostalgia. I consumed more than my fair share of chocolate butterfinger shakes while watching my energetic kiddo play on the playground. We don't frequent this location often and when we do the food isn't anything to write home about but it also is satisfying and never disappoints. The staff on the other hand is next level, they make Chick Fil A employees looks like a bunch of amateurs, the staff if you go inside to eat or get ice cream is always checking in on you and they will bring you your food. Alright, it's time to give this location a review in hopes they'll change their ways. So many experiences, trying to give them one more shot and I just don't think they realize what they are doing and I'm out of patience with the lack of care and concern. It's not just one or two employees it's all of them and over years of patronage. I'm not sure if they are hurting for money but they are undoubtedly stingy. One little dollop on my southwest chicken salad, then they'll charge you for an extra side that's only a half full ramekin. The kids chicken tender meal comes with one chicken tender and a handful of fries with the worst-prone-to-break toys for a whopping $5.50! Apparently, you have to ask for a 2 tender meal which is even more money. I'd rather give all 3 kids meals toys back for that 2nd chicken tender without an up charge. Ive ordered 5 combo meals and asked for 6 sides of fry sauce, one for each person and an extra one just for the fun of it and they gasped at "6" and said you can purchase a fry sauce. Their meals are the same burger joint food but are easily an extra $2-$3 for every meal which can get pricey for a family. The problem, by far the worst of theirs though is their meat is never cooked all the way through, not to mention their batter and on multiple occasions! The chicken on the southwest chicken salad has been pink and rubbery, the shrimp has been gray and spotted, the fried batter on the shrimp and the corn dogs is liquid on the inside. When I show them they are shocked and are nice enough to replace it but of course the only 1 or 2 corndog or shrimp that are affected.. which I'm technically fine with if you're really struggling that bad but most restaurants go above and beyond and replace the whole thing as, not just a courtesy but a safety measure to make sure we don't get sick with cross contamination. It's the kind of business model I would run. Their saving grace is their milkshakes, they are thick and creamy, not soupy. That it is all we will order in the future if we decide to come at all. My family decided to try out this arctic circle location because I saw in one of the reviews that they have a play place. We ordered the kids some Sundaes and let them play for a bit in the indoor play place. The play place is easily accessible by even young kids and your kids won't get lost in the play place because it's not all covered up like some of the other ones. However it does have a weird musty smell in the room with the playplace. They forgot about our order and after about 10 or 15 minutes we went back and asked about it and they made it up quickly for us. First time trying Arctic Circle and I found it to be disappointment. The burger meat has a similar taste to Sonic but not as flavorful. The veggies are low quality similar to Del Tacos burger. The cheese was similar to Sonic's cheese. The sauce on the burger wasn't memorable and didn't help make the burger. The fry sauce wasn't anything I found to be special. I was there, and my God did I have a bad feeling walking in. I wouldn't even give them one star, but I can't go lower. I saw one lady smoking that worked there and then walked in through the front door and didn't wash her hands and started touching my food. I asked a worker who that lady was and it's the manager. There were only a few cars in line and I thought that a waffle cone and a corn dog combo wouldn't take long. Wow, was I wrong. Every car in front of me had their order wrong. After being forced to pull forward, every driver had to get out and go back inside. I paid at the window and immediately got my waffle cone. I thought, "OK, this is going good so far". The drink for my wife came right after that and then they had us pull forward. "Don't forgot me", I said, as I pulled forward. Nearly 20-minutes later, they did exactly that. We had to go in and find out what went wrong. As it turns out, one of the employees deleted the order. The manager told the employee to hurry up with my order without addressing us. Hmm, interesting. I used to love coming here but the last few times has left me angry. As others have mentioned, it's like the kids inside are just playing around, flirting with each other, looking at their phones or generally just don't care about customer service.
