    Jacksons Food Store #506

There are gargantuan fountain pops and a slushie machine, beers, local beers, wines both potable and un-, chips, teriyaki jerky, cigarettes, and hot dogs rolling tirelessly on hot dog rollers. Also, there is gas and, this being Oregon, a man to put it in your car, should your hands be only taped on that day. What there isn't, however, is poor or average customer service. This store is directly on my way home, so I stop there more than anywhere else, and while I might be a regular face now, I have never received less than stellar, attentive, ostensibly genuine and cheerful customer service -- even before the cashiers and managers could effortlessly predict my order and refuse to judge me, yet again. Moreover, there appear to be many other equally predictable regular shoppers from among the Lloyd area's homeless and mentally ill population, and the cashiers are impressively understanding, kind, and warm to them, as well, even though at times their behavior or level of intoxication can be challenging to anyone in any kind of customer- or social-services work. A lot are called by name and treated with a gentleness and respect that they often find in too few other places. I am not sure of the hierarchy, but the two women managers or assistant managers set a truly great tone, and model an impressive attitude and dedication to customer service for employees to follow. Yes, I could buy my Mini Chewy Sweet Tarts, 'beef sticks,' rolls of Tums, and emergency nail clippers anywhere, but why would I? In a town where you frequently have to seat yourself, set and bus your own table, season and/or recook your meal, and still tip 30 percent, these rad, untipped workers with their unforced friendliness and graceful, kind competence put most of the rest of us to shame, whether we work in the service industry or just have to bring ourselves to speak to other people on occasion!

They sent out a rent a cop to have us move I asked the pretend officer if he could help me out with a jump and he refused. Then while we were waiting for tow he came back demanding we leave the property. Again we come to this store sometimes multiple times a day. We were super disappointed with the treatment we received. A little kindness goes a long way.
