I have been buying gas here for a long time, but they have lost my business, except for emergency purchases. I set the pump for $15 in gas, finished pumping, and immediately got a notification from my credit card company that they had preauthorized $175! This has never happened before, so it must be a new policy - one that lost them a customer. read more

Great spot for down town energy needs. Staff is friendly enough for a station and they have good prices for the area. I shop here often.

Twice in the last two months or less, I have pulled into the Astro gas station at 3911 SE Powell Blvd, Portland OR 97202 to get gas. I have stopped at this station for a number of years, starting when it was a 76 gas station. However, since the change to an Astro station, no matter how many times you say you want premium gas some employs will run your card then hit the regular button on the pump. Upon stopping them from putting regular in my car, no gas pumped, yet their system still puts a $100.00 hold charge on my card. If the attendant can't operate the pump correctly, maybe they shouldn't be working there. I for one think it's time for self-serve gas in Oregon, I know which button to push, it's not rocket science Astro. read more

Slow, rude employee. Never been spoken to at a gas station in Oregon like I was here. When he *finally* turns up on the passenger side of the, he says through the closed window "I'm not coming around" with a sneer. Unpleasant, unprofessional. Jerky. Never a please or thank you. Asked "debit or credit", didn't bother to listen to the answer. Asked again, did the opposite. Acted put out about having to do his job. Finishes pumping, just says "alright, you're done" and goes back to chatting with his buddy. read more

For a plain ol' gas station, this one is pretty good. They consistently beat the prices at the 76 station 2 blocks down on gas & cigs. They are now splitting prices for cash vs. card payments, aka "discount for cash." The fill up I had was fine, but I've had really poor mileage between buying gas at this station and my next tank. I made no other major changes to my driving patterns, so all I can figure is that the fuel was somehow to blame. People talk a lot of smack about ARCO but I've had some of the better results in my car after buying gas at one of their local independent franchisees. If everyone else is going to follow their "discount for cash" model, might as well go to a reliable and usually lower priced provider. In northwest Portland, go buy your unleaded gasoline at Radio Cab, it's open 24/7, has decent attendants, a bathroom (if you really need it) and is usually the lowest price west of the Willamette in inner Portland (downtown, Pearl District, University District, Northwest Portland). read more

Uhhh glad to see I'm not alone. Last night I pulled up for gas-I was on my phone. I noticed the guy wasn't coming out and was just watching me from the booth. Eventually he did and we had what I felt was a normal interaction but I could tell something was off with him. After a few minutes I noticed the nozzle was out so I left. I drove a few blocks and saw that I HAD NO GAS IN MY CAR STILL. I went back and he started screaming at me saying he was tired of snooty bitches and wouldn't pump my gas. I was shocked and when I tried to say something he yelled 'you won't win this argument so you can just leave'. He is highly unstable and obviously suffering tho I feel for him this is not ok and was frankly extremely jarring i had already had an awful day. This isn't a one time issue. The attendants are extremely rude, regardless of being busy or not just how they treat paying customers. They make transphobic comments and generally treat people terrible. There's only 2 decent people working there,&I have nothing but empathy for what it must be like. Last night my friend and my self while with my family where verbally attacked by the man working at the 1111 NW 21st ave gas station. His name was Mike and he was extremely aggressive towards us. We first approached his booth to buy a lighter and he ignored us for the first two minutes we where there then he turned and we asked again for a lighter. He asked for I'd and my friend and I giggled due to the fact that we are over 30 and he step to us with chest puffed up saying if we wanna laugh we can get lost. We thought at first that he was joking but he got even more stern and scary. So I told my friend to forget the lighter and we left. When leaving I asked his name. At this time he is basically pulling his name tag off telling me to respect the worker. I have a 10 year old little girl with me and so we turned and left immediately. After our dinner we had to walk back past this gas station and we were minding our own business trying to not have confrontation. He proceeded to step out of the booth saying oh it's you guys do you remember my name huh do you, did you get my name correct . I told him to have a good night and that we didn't need any trouble. He asked if I was gonna call someone. I told him I made a call and for him to have a good night that some how we had a misunderstanding. This man then called us f******* morons. At this time I turned around and asked him why he was being so rude. He proceeded to call us rude and a bunch of curse words in front of my little girl and 5 of us adults , so I said for him to have a good night and left. If I knew who to call i would. I mean this man was still being so hostile towards us even two hours after we first spoke to him. But I feel everyone should be aware that there is a very angry man who does not know or understand how the service industry works you don't treat anyone this way even if you don't like their personality. There's nothing I hate more than poor service. I am currently sitting in my car waiting for my gas to be pumped...I've been here for 15 minutes and there are 4 pumps total. By the time David, the attendant walks up, he just stares at me. No "sorry about your wait" or "how can I help you" or "what kind of gas would you like"...absolute dead stare until it was so awkward that I had to say something. Then after I receive my gas he just hands me my receipt and again says nothing. David should be fired and I would suggest that if you need gas, literally go anywhere else. read more

If there was less than a one-star rating I would certainly rate this slipshod place as a minus. I waited for 10 minutes in line while some inept idiot pumping gas wandered around looking lost. What he finally got to my van I told him $20. He left and was nowhere to be found as I was flagging him down to get him to stop pumping gas. He pumped $38 and told me to get the hell out of the lot when I told him it was going to overdraft my bank account because all I had was the $20 in there. He said while it's your fault you could have jumped out and pulled the gas out but you just sat there and watched the gas go into your car expecting to get it for free. That's bullshit. I am 68 years old, retired and live on my pissly social security every month that $17 was groceries for me for the next week. I do my good deeds as a conscientious citizen and volunteer everyday to help those that have less. I wouldn't go back to this rank ass station and rotating inept workers if they were giving gas away. This was the station on the corner of Walnut and Pacific highway in Tigard. This place looks like it should be condemned. When I tried to call the service station to speak to the manager of course I was caught in the phone loop from hell. This petroleum company bans people from their stations. I am a 61 year old neighborhood homeowner in Kenton. I was treated with significant disrespect from a young lady and when I complained I was banned and told I don't need to buy my gas there. Instead of astro on interstate and lombard I now use the arco three blocks down. They are right.....I don't have to buy my gas there and I am urging all my neighbors to do the same. Kenton does not need businesses that fail to uphold the communities values. Thank you for banning me. I don't need to be treated like crap from unprofessional workers. Stopped here in a pinch last night because I was on empty. Was listening to a podcast on my phone when I pulled up and there was only one other car ahead of me. The driver of the car and the attendant were chatting it up in conversation like They had all the time in the world. The gas nozzle wasn't even in a customers car yet. I waited a good five minutes or so until the attendant started filling up the customers car. When the car was done and drove away, I pulled up to the pump and was in the process of turning off my podcast when the attendant came to my window, saw that I was "on my phone" (as he said) and darted off to quickly help the customer that just drove up. Again I waited several more minutes for Chatty Cathy attendant while he chit chatted with the customer and filled their tank. When he finally came to my window, I half smiled and said "Is it my turn yet?" He GLARED at me and said in a total nasty tone "YOU WERE ON YOUR PHONE!! I'm busy here, lady!! BYE!! As I was sitting there aghast, processing what just happened, once again he said "BYE!!!" That legitimately is what happened word for word. I drove away and went to the Chevron station a block away, which is where I should've gone in the first place. Avoid this place!!!!!! Asked gas attendant to put 2-gallons of gas into a loaner car, he was extremely rude/sarcastic and essentially said if he had to do the math he wouldn't be pumping gas so I just tell him how much. In my experience, gas pumps reflect both gallons and cost so I didn't think my request was unreasonable nor did I want to engage him in further conversation. I simply told him I would take my business a block down the street (Chevron 21st/Lovejoy). Warning: Do NOT use credit/debit card to pay as even if you ask for a specific amount, they place a large hold on your account (in my case, all funds that were available). I asked for and received $20 in gas, all of my available balance was reduced to ZERO on my debit card now, and this was the money I would have bought food with. The only other station I use is Chevron in SE Portland, and they only put a $1 hold on your card!!! The card company says the hold will fall off in a few days and show the correct $20 only, and the station attendant can only give me the managers name and the number for corporate, which on Saturday is closed as any "corporate" business would be. No money for at least the entire weekend, probably longer. How can a company in effect OVERCHARGE you so much, even temporarily, and have this not be considered fraud? Guess I'll drive the extra distance from now on, it's cheaper and you don't loose the use of all your money (sorry, not rich -- or I suppose it wouldn't matter). Warning signs for this type of practice not posted anywhere you can see from your vehicle. Either have LOTS of extra funds in your account, or pay with cash. read more

Wow. Paying customer here, filled my tank. Ask to use the restroom and was told "no public restroom". Where do the employees go potty? Last time I checked I wasn't a homeless person shooting dope and don't appreciate businesses that treat humans as such. So I'm in the middle of the nw, an area of town where rent for a studio apartment is $1700/mth and your saying customers can't use your bathroom? WTF Astro? You won't see another penny of my hard earned $. What strikes my frustration is that there is plenty of local businesses who would let you use their bathroom, gas stations in town that are much more ran down than this one. I hope the owner gets over taxed and they pop up yet another over priced apartment complex down there.
