Absolutely horrible place and abuse of banning people from that gas station. Me and my family…read moretraveled from Ohio to California then back, stopped to get food to continue the journey. The guy by the register wasn't even at his workplace when I come to the register to pay for food. My younger brother was sick in the car (throwing up) so we were looking for electrolyte, we found the wrong item and put it back, then that long haired dude called police at my mother and accused her for stealing aka "put something in the pocket". Like come on, I literally bought the house 2 weeks ago, on a trip around USA and still BOUGHT things from that place and he still accused us in stealing? Not only accused, but also banned from that gas station and even called a police at us. He was so scared to come out of his back room that it was pathetic. My worst traveling experience, I hope this person will be fired ASAP, even officers told us that it wasn't his first time banning people from Chevron.

Smith's Express is a place I often stop to take a break and refuel when I'm in Mesquite. It's…read moreexactly the kind of no-frills stop you want on that long drive between Vegas and Salt Lake City. It's quick, convenient, and gets you back on the road without much hassle. The biggest perk (and the main reason I stop here) is the gas discount. I love being able to use my Smith's rewards points to save $1.00 off per gallon. That really adds up on a road trip. Plus, this location tends to have some of the cheapest gas in town. Inside, it's your standard convenience setup. They carry a decent (but not huge) selection of snacks, drinks, and essentials, plus a restroom that's usually clean enough for a pit stop. There's also a Subway tucked inside so the place always smells like fresh baked bread (no complaints from me)! It's not flashy and the place does feel a bit dated, but that's not really the point. It's reliable, easy to get in and out of, and perfectly fine for a quick break on the road. If you're passing through Mesquite, it does the job without overcomplicating things.

I go in. They require that you pick an amount to put on you card and then a refund if you don't hit that amount. So much bullshit just to buy gas. So, my wife hears a beep at the pump. Starts pumping. I get to the pump to see the price does not reflect the $1 off. When I go in for my refund, I say I am pissed off about paying full price. The clown at the register say it did not take because I did not start the gas at the time. Well, duh huh, it would not allow me too. Anyway. Bad experience from the start. I guess that at 80 years old, having a Chevron app and an American Express credit card puts me in the same category as some thug travelling on the I-15.
