Stopped by here initially to buy foamcore for my wife since we couldn't find any in Pasadena, and was amazed at the selection! We've already come back twice in one week even though it's a bit further than our local stores. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but the lady working the store every time we've visited is super sweet and amazingly helpful. A cool hole in the wall and Probably one of the only Art stores in DTLA or Santee alley that I found. Dont let the name fool you they have a ton of graffiti materials and paints. OMG this is an artist's dream store! I was looking for some square brass tubing that wasn't carried at a regular art supply store. I was going to go as far as a Burbank hobby shop but I'm so glad I swung by this place! Not only did it have the pieces I wanted but aisles upon aisles of other materials and tools that one could craft something. It's in a long brick building with an inset entrance and as far as I remember no discernible sign out front so keep looking, it's there! The staff was friendly and helpful. read more

If you're a woman going alone to this store save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. I assume this sexest man is owner since he can get by with being EXTREMELY next level rude. First I call to double check store hours (I only live five min away) and he explains if I'm not there at 7:30 on the dot I better be prepared drive him home 20miles away. WTF. Anyways I ignore it and tell myself it's his own sense of humor. So I enter the store and he doesn't help he calls for someone else to and after I tell him about the parking he replies with "it's a game tonight genius" how can someone be so rude and mean like seriously? I just went here this evening, and it was a great experience! All the supplies are reasonably priced and the staff was exceptionally helpful. I can't remember the name of the person who helped me, but she asked me right away what I was looking for and helped me find it. They carry a wide range, so if you're looking for sculpture/architecture supplies this is the best place to find them. The drawing/painting supplies are not quite as extensive but chances are they'll still have what you're looking for. The only downside is that this place is a little difficult to find-- I spent 5-10 minutes walking around before I found the entrance-- but once you do, it's a fantastic supply shop! I work a block from here and always see the big "Art Supplies" banner on the side of the building... I needed a portfolio binder so I came here hoping they'd have a good selection, and they did! They had the really nice Pina screwpost binders for $20 cheaper than what I saw it online for and I do believe they can do the laser engraving on the binder if you wish to have your company logo etched on. I was glad I didn't have to go to West Hollywood or Pasadena to go to Blicks. I would definitely say this place is comparable to Blicks. They just opened 3 months ago. And just because it has "architect's" in the name doesn't mean its only for architects! They have a supplies for all types of artists. The owner was very nice and personable. I had only needed one portfolio, but he pointed out to me that they were having a "buy one get one free" special on the Itoya binder I got, so I ended up with two! Parking was kind of confusing. The entrance is on Flower, so I just ended up going down Flower and parked on the other side of the street, although it turns out there is a parking lot off of Cameron Lane, which is before the store entrance when going down Flower. Its very clean, neat, and well organized. I'm a photographer so I didn't really look at all the other stuff, but I would def say check this place out. My wife comes here only when she can't find something at a cheaper store. Their selection of architectural figurines is very impressive. They had people, landscapes, etc. all of high quality and several different scales. They also have a wide area of acrylic and wood for model building. I am not convinced the pricing here is that competitive as we told they don't offer student discounts since "everything is discounted for everybody" (sounds like a cop out to me but whatever). Where this place really shines is their staff and service. They are very helpful w/o being pushy and super knowledgeable about what they have in inventory and how to use it. Parking is a disaster and it's only going to get worse since they are losing their private lot. We had to park on the street a city block away and hike it. read more

The guys who work here are super friendly and always go above and beyond to get the job done. I emailed these guys to get a series of work documents printed: $0.10 per page, a FIFTH of what Kinko's Fed Ex charges. I dropped in and blew up two photos of downtown LA on semi-glossy paper; the guys did the graphic layout and printed two 16"x20" photos for FIFTEEN BUCKS. A friend of mine once got a ride home from the guys who run this place. Seriously, I wish the guys that worked here were my friends. They're great at creating a loyal customer base. Merchandise prices are less than Pearl Art Store, and the selection is as good. This place is great for USC students, artists and architects alike. The only downside is that finding the store parking lot is kind of weird; it took me a few visits to figure it out, but since I have, the lot is super useful. read more

WOW! This place has EVERYTHING YOU WANT/NEED!!!! The store is located on the corner of pico and Flower street... It might be a lil hard to find it the first time since they don't have a sign. Although parking is incredibly hard to find without paying, I would't hesitate to walk, skate, or ride a bike to this shop if I were you. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. As stated in other posts the employees don't try to sell you on anything. They are very honest about which choices might be more cost effective. There is a great selection of almost everything. I found things like miniature landscape embellishments and graphics pads that I haven't found at any other art shop in LA. I'd go here for everything except paper. Nothing beats McManus & Morgan in MacArthur Park when it comes to paper for the arts. read more

Loving this place. The owner (I believe) is very helpful and friendly. He made sure I found everything I needed for my first project. He also gave me tips and recommended a certain professor. Just left this store, The guy working the counter was extremely rude. For their spray paint, they keep it behind the register and do not allow you to come near it to pick your colors. I explained to the gentleman that I did not have my glasses on and would appreciate if I could come behind to pick my colors. however, he said no. I have worked as a Mural artist for the last 5 years with multiple murals around downtown Los Angeles and have never had this experience at any other art supply store. I came here because I was told by a friend that they had a great selection and prices. A week or so ago I was in need of new paint brushes but didn't feel like driving far to a michaels and i found this place on yelp. It is a small business but offers everything you need as an artist. I ended up getting like 7-8 brushes, some artists tape, and watercolor pencils(to try out) . So far the brushes have held up well, they are Princeton Select brand. I don't really like the watercolor pencils but that's not the stores fault, its just my preference on what to paint with. Overall good experience. The only bad thing is there's no parking.. and if there is you're gonna have a hard time finding the entrance to it. Theres no clear signs. There's a bunch of construction always going on around there and train tracks right in front obstructing the view of the front entrance AND only one way streets all around so it's pretty confusing. I just street parked near the hospital and walked over. Other that that, the person working there helped me a lot and was super informative and helped me save some money. She was very kind. Would come back but only in a time crunch due to parking. read more

They didn't have the classic markers but have the whole array of Chartpak if you like those. Great service at this little boutique store. This place is great! The staff are always friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. I've went there several times to buy supplies for my art classes and have felt very accepted there. The guy that works there is always friendly and always asks how my projects are going. This is probably the best costumer service I have ever received! The prices here also way cheaper then other art stores around L.A. So if you want to save some money, come here! Not only that, but they sometimes have specials and sales that can land you some sweet deals. Like the one were you buy a sketchbook and get one free of the same size or a smaller size of your choice. This store also has a lot of products and items! The only problem is parking. I always park in the part that used to be their parking. However, you can't park there any more. But, if you see people that are parking attendants for that parking space during events, just ask them you are going to the store and they'll let you park there. I'm an artist always in a look out for a great art supply store. This place was new to me so I walked in. I bought markers and paint here and when I arrived home it was almost DRY. The marker ink was very faint (and I bought them in black) and you could tell the paint was sitting in the shelf for a long time it wasn't even fluid. Didn't even bother coming back to complain because there is a no return policy sign I saw in the store. The awkward manager made me take off my backpack but allowed a girl to keep her purse. Also the manager is painfully rude to his employees. I felt really bad for them. It just made the whole vibe in there really awkward to the point where I couldn't wait to leave. This is my go to art supply store. Hands down. I prefer them over blicks, raw materials, and even sci arcs store. Only downside is no parking. I stumbled upon this art store and was really shocked by how much stuff they had. I live downtown and it's really convenient and they have a parking lot (FREE!) which is sadly make-or-break for me. Not only is there the usual stuff for artists (canvases, paints, brushes...) but they carry really specialized supplies for designers and architects (lightboxes, portfolios, wacom tablets, architectural modeling stuff..). Today I brought by a competitor coupon for a light box and their price was lower than Blick at 40% off. Their price, convenience and stock will definitely get my business. read more

after getting kicked out of top's art supplies for being accused of stealing a pastel (which DIDN'T HAPPEN!) i came here to spend my money that i had intended to spend at tops, thank god i didn't. They helped me with everything! they didn't follow me around the store like a hawk like the other place did. They were very knowledgeable and kind.
