OK, So I get dragged to this "strip club". Its my first time going to one with female dancers (if you want to call them that). We go inside and are greeted by this huge guy who runs down the Rules : No Smoking No Touching No Cell phones! What?? No cell phones i asked, he replied yes, no cell phones because we don't want anyone taking pictures or videos of the girls. I laughed to myself and thought take a picture or video, yeah right they wish. But anyways we sit down at the bar and immediately the bar tender is asking us what were having. I didn't want a drink as of then but i was informed that drinks must be purchased every 30 mins. So now I'm pissed. we order 3 drinks and began observing our surroundings, about 5 minutes later a "dancer" comes over and says hi and her name, the two guys I'm with proceed to stick money in her garter belt. So now I'm confused, they gave her money just for saying hello and her name. that's bullshit!!! Now on to the "entertainment" the dancer on the stage was very skinny and awkward. she had the look of pure boredom on her face as she step out of her clothing, and as she began to "dance" a fellow co- worker came over to her tiny stage and started up a conversation!! So instead saving it for later, she stopped dancing and carried on as if she was on a smoke break. That's was the last straw. i asked the bartender for my tab and vacated quickly. Tiny overpriced beers, dancers trying to shake you down for tips because they did their thing on a stage you weren't even looking at, and all this coupled with the usual shame you feel for ending up in an environment this seedy again. Took my girlfriend here one a weekday evening. I'm black and my gf is white but I think the dancers were a bit racist. We arrived at 1030pm, and we received the most absolute WORST customer service ever. We came ready to spend money but due to the horrible service, I actually saved a pretty penny. I brought a total of $400 to spend...$95 was spent on drinks, the rest I took back home with me. A few times I had to walk up to the bar and ask for our waitress because she refused to come back and check on us. We tipped every single dancer that approached our table but all they did was take our tip and walk off. We sat there at the table for 3+ hours drinking our asses off but not a single dancer came over to talk to us. That was ridiculous. I never left a place so pissed off like I did with Archibalds. Visited on 08/01. I am reviewing this for the dancer in this establishment. I forgot the name of the dancer but she is from El-Salvador. As soon as I entered and sat in the bar, she dropped in to say hello. And I ended up spending the next 90 minutes with her and 30 minutes of those were in a private lap dance session. She was having her birthday on 08/03 and was really excited and happy about it. We had a very good conversation and she was awesome. DC is weird about their strip club rules. No lap dances, no touching. That being said, I managed to have a really fun time here. Most of the girls are pretty - dare I say a few are even HOT. I am extremely surprise at the amount of negative comments about Archibald's especially the comments about how average the girls look. The main reason I gave Archibald the high 4 stars is because of how multicultural the women were. we were there for about 3 hours we were they there are a girl every race, every hair color (even a red head), every shape (all where skinny but some where short and super shinny then some where really tall with AMAZING bodies not to skinny but not at all big). The strippers were EXTREMELY pleasant and they all asked what we were there for and all gave the birthday girl a hug. The food was good and not expensive. We had the whole top floor to our selves pretty much because it isn't as busy in the summer time as it is in the winner because went you think about it if you really want to see half naked and naked women.....you can just go to the beach in the summer. The only downside to Archibalds is that it is a no entry fee club so the drinks are Ridiculously priced and you HAVE to order a drink ever 30 minutes or you get kicked out. You cannot order a regular water and everything will be OK because you can only get a bottled water which cost $9. A long island ice tea was about $22. So it is pricey and we stayed for 3 hours so we have about a $300 bill at the end. The drinks are also not all that great. The drinks were water down a little but its business and they want you to buy more. Seems like a lot for me to give 4 stars but I was there mainly for the boobs and they were NICE. Ok, so this was my first time here, and I will definitely return...to me, its i prefer when the dancers are personable, smiling and atleast appear to be enjoying themselves while turning me on and earning that 'doolah'. we hit it on a weeknight, so the crowd was thin and seating was easy. no growls from the bouncers or stress, and only a few frequent 'big tippers' monopolizing the dancers non-show time. the stages (2 on the first floor) are well placed and lit but there are no vertical poles, so no spinning around etc...only a horizontal pole to hang from. this however is a blessing because the dancers get to work their hips more and do the slow gyrating moves, instead of acrobatics in 5" heels. the stages on the second floor may have been diff, but we didnt make it there this time. the dancers are awesome...all get 5stars for personality. they were friendly this night and talkative, making eye contact and smiling during the up close show. like i said above, if the dancer is acting like she enjoys her work its all the better for the atmosphere. the general body type of the dancers here was top notch also...no overly tattooed ladies (too many tats distracts form the body imo)...all were between 5'2" and 5'8", and slender frames...the dancers were all natural, and their bodies matched them perfectly - pert 'a' and 'b' cups, and a solid natural 'c' were dancing this night...thankfully no 5' tall fake dd dancers....says a lot about the quality of the club and the confidence of the dancers. culturally, the mix was good also, white, black, asian and latino dancers were all out this night. the variety will not disappoint. the servers where friendly also, and not overly pushy about drinks. they even walk around as kind of "entertainer jr's" with pasties and g'strings. the only downside is the no contact rule...as in no lap dancing, but thats not the clubs fault as it law in dc so i wont hold that against the club. some people complain about the drink prices being high, but they are in truth on par is cost and size to drinks at a nightclub (dance club) in dc with the exception of no cover charge at archibalds... perhaps on the weekends (fri-sat-sun) the air about the place may change due to crowds and stress, but i cant see that happening. all in all this club will not disappoint. read more

Not to smear the place, but reviews are based on your personal experience at an institution. One of my friends and I just came back from the Georgetown waterfront and had plans to go to the Park on 14th after. They were not open as of yet, so we decided to stop at the closest place in route to the club which happened to be Archibald's. While I am not a fan of gentlemen's clubs because I do not understand the general concept of paying to see a woman dance naked, I still understand common patron etiquette. If you visit an institution that has certain requirements you should follow the rules, so I always make sure that I will tip performers even if I do not watch them when I am with friends and colleagues that are into that type of stuff. I usually make my way to the bar. I ordered the first round of drinks for my friend and myself and even tipped the bartender 25% and had her break $50.00 into singles since we did not plan to be there that long. Just a couple of drinks, tip and then make our way to the night club was the plan. The place was not busy and before my friend could complete his drink, the rude bartender told us that we were going to have to tip or get more drinks or you have to go. I politely told the woman that my friend has not even completed his first drink and we plan on getting another round. She called the bouncer. I looked at the man as if he was insane because he walked up on me, a paying customer. I told my friend forget about the drink, it's not even worth. If they do not want our business, we will go elsewhere. Keep in mind we were impeccable dressed and very clean cut since we were going to a night club which is normal protocol to get into most decent night clubs in the downtown D.C. area. We are very reserved individuals, so we were not loud or aggressive. I am not going to say what the underlying issue was, I do have my suspicions but at a time like this you cannot right it off. I will say this, to give a fair review, they did have a full bar. I cannot speak on the performers since we left. Customer service is horrible. Buyer power is stronger than many people think. My $100.00 dollars or so to hang out for 30 mins may not be a lot, but I will never go there ever again, and I will not bring my colleagues from California that always want to go to strip clubs when they come to the D.C. area. we were working in front of the white house late at night on one of those odd sundays where nothing much was open and my friend suggested to go around the corner to this little spot he knew of, and though i declined (as i have been to the establishment long ago) he detailed his adventure the next day at work, and with his being of the sort of verbal brick and mortar, i transcribe his story somewhere between poetry and prose. you walk into the bar and even though it is night, your eyes have to adjust to the darkness with the neon and dim rope lights peering through, and then with each step, you try to regain your balance from the pugnacious bass pounding out from the juke box and a large man greets you a cheshire grin and asks if he could help in an accusatory tone. you assure him that you are more than capable to find your own way about the bar and manage to grab a seat by the corner where there are not many other people around and where one can enjoy a drink in the solitude of aloneness. there are a couple of older men near by your seat. they sit in their seats like the way a dog chews on a old bone, savoring every bit. down the end of the bar are the younger kids, drunk, stupid, and virile with a bad sense of direction. they're having a good time and girls walk by and suck out there dollar bills like vacuum cleaners. there's a couple on your left enjoying the show from a safe distance, like the kid outside the candy store whose mother won't let him eat sweets. not like the mixed group over at the talbes, who are so ebullient, that's it's impossible to tell who is with whom as they bounce around from girl to girl and seat to seat. 'what can i get you?' and before you can answer she smacks you in the face with her eyes. you surprise her for a second because it's the first thing you look at, but it only takes a second to be compelled like a slave to follow her the luster of her perfect straight hair, travelling down over her shoulder and landing right the two most perfect doughy pastries being prepared in the bosom of a tight blue corset, which grips around her wiast that squeezes a thin short skirt that drapes the contours of her curves in delicate precision. she stares at you as if you were an imbecile. you save face and order a beer. you watch her walk away and follow her stockings and high heels so intently that you forget the naked women dancing on the stages. you pretend not to notice her when she returns with your beer, but she sees you even when she's not looking. she knows her job and you know every night she slices up hearts and testicles with those razor heels and gentle smiles. your an old salt and you know better than that, so you turn your attention to the dancing naked girls and observe the other girls making their rounds of dollar donations. you dole yours out obligatorily as they come by. a guy, not much older than yourself comes into the bar with a bouquet of flowers, which he hands over to the bartender - dead on arrival. those flowers aren't going anywhere and everybody but him knows it. one girl on stage catches you eye, so you decide to have a closer look. she's so beautiful you can't decide where she's from. somewhere from asia? somewhere from south america? maybe a bit of both. she has a barbed wire tattoo that starts at her ankle and crawls all around her body until it gets to her neck. she has a nipple pierced, which doesn't surprise you. then she bends over and your are slackjawed. you never knew so much metal could fit into that small of a place. you give her money and wonder what stories could each piercing tell. you return to your seat where the corseted saint gives you a wink. you order an overpriced beer and shot. the night goes thumping to music and the girls with falsetto european accents come collecting for dollars and old guys with money toss their pensions away and young girls lift there legs for a possible education and who wins and loses on a night like this is anybody's guess. it depends what mood your in. you slam your shot and guzzle your and say good night to the corseted saint who never sees you leave and return home. that is what my friend said. he has no name. read more

The pix of the club are interesting. Quite a change over the years. This place did great business back in the 70's. The food was very good and the lunch crowd was great. Where else would you expect gov't employees to eat ? Lobbyists, lawyers and ad people. I didn't like working the nights as much. Met a couple nice pros that worked the club. Tips were great. Paid my trip to Europe. After 3 months of lust and leisure, I was back in DC. Finally left- friend gunned down and traffic drove me nuts. Would love to visit again... briefly. read more

This is a flash back. I am 72. I went there when in town on business back in the 70's, 80's, early 90's. Usually stayed at the Hilton across the street. .Choices then were to pay about $4 for a Heineken at the Hilton bar, or pay the same $4 across the street at Archibald's and watch beautiful young naked ladies dance. Often was with several buddies. But reading here I think things have changed a bit since then. Too old to go back.even if I were in DC again. Had my bachelor party here last week and it was my first time attending a club in DC. I sent an email via the website inquiring about reservation and the manager called me within an hour. He explained how everything worked and was very upfront about the club's environment. Everything was taken care of and the bachelor party drinking package was very reasonable! I went here on a Sunday night because I was bored. I never go to a strip club on a Friday or Saturday. It's always a night where there's nothing else to do and I don't feel like watching tv. I'll state that all strip clubs in DC kind of suck and archibalds is at least better than the others. Drinks are overpriced obviously. My biggest problem with the place is this. They charge me 14 dollars for a vodka cranberry. I know I am getting ripped off but you have to pay to play so we all accept this. But the issue is that the drink is watered down. I drink two of them and feel nothing. I tell my waitress after the first one that it's watered down and she says the net one will be stronger. That was a lie. So I just spend 30 dollars and don't have the slightest buzz. I went here because someone on yelp said the steak dinner was 12 dollars. Not true. It's 18. I order the shrimp and it was good. Cheaper than a drink. If you go here drink Budweiser which will cost you 9 dollars but that's better than 14. I'm only giving it 2 stars instead of one because of the food menu and the awesome waitress. The waitress was the prettiest one there. Girls were not that great at all. I found only one dancer attractive. Sadly, I will probably return in the future. I like to go every once in a while when I'm bored. However, never getting another liquor drink from there. Great spot. I live in Dallas where there is more land and therefore easier to build a huge, beautiful club. Archibald's is in DC so it's smallish and kind of like the bar in "Cheers." A cool dive bar, but with gorgeous, smart, cool, naked girls. I travel to DC quite a lot so I've gotten to know a few of the girls over time as well as eaten several items from their menu. They have daily specials on the menu, so there's always something new to try. Seems like there's a lot of regulars from what I've gathered from my favorite girls. I enjoy my share of gentlemen's clubs but this is the WORST joint I have experienced. I must admit, the dancers were okay looking but the bartenders were not attractive at all and the waitresses were not any better. The bartender that was helping my friends and I looked as if she had down-syndrome, and acted as if she were God's gift to everyone in the club. They all were wearing WAY too much make-up and I was overly unimpressed. It is a very small establishment and all the girls had their noses in the air and hands out for money. Lets get this straight, you girls work in a STRIP CLUB. Here, I was approached by two so-called "contractors" who claimed I would be given a hidden corner booth with them for a certain "minimum fee" where I would be blessed with their flirtacious presence. One gave me a phone number claiming to want to date outside the club (which I never called). I offered the aforementioned certain "minimum amount" to ONE of them and stated I had no further money beyong that. Just to be clear I never agreed to pay for any favors of that kind and none was ever mentioned by anyone and I don't believe this was any illegal situation. When talking to the two separately they gave me conflicting stories about themselves, making clear I was being lied to. Meanwhile I bought them two questionably expensive drinks which were supposedly ordered and consumed outside of my presence, of which my waitress had no knowledge and for which I never received my change, i.e., they obviously pocketed my drink money! With me already fed up with being lied to, the ONE I paid returned for our time in The Booth, demanding I pay again said "minimum" amount because for bizarre nonsense reasons my "underpaying" her before placed her in debt with the bar, the other girl and the bouncer. She went on to say if I only wanted Booth Time with one then it was rude not to give the other $20-40 to go away. Moreover, (she claimed) the guy in the next Booth apparently paid $3000 for his Booth Time and I'm at a strip club; it costs a lot so I should quit complaining; don't I know how it works; I should quit being childish and start treating them right. So I need to fend off hustlers here. No thanks. read more
