I had a fantastic experience with Fight Camp at Archetype. The program challenged me physically and mentally and helped me make changes in my life that I honestly didn't think were possible when I first walked through the door. Sean, Tyson, and Jeremy each brought something different to my training, and I learned a tremendous amount from all of them. The workouts are demanding, and you're surrounded by people who are there to work with and support you. If you're looking for a place that will challenge you, push your conditioning, and give you a real introduction to boxing, I highly recommend Archetype! Five stars, without hesitation. read more

Archetype Boxing Packs a Punch I waltzed into this gym a couple of years ago not really knowing what to expect. I've taken a bunch of classes in everything from hip hop to making rugs. But fitness places I'm a little more discerning. What would I be learning? Are the coaches any good? What's the vibe like? Archetype delivers on all fronts. If you're an experienced boxer and or fitness fanatic, you'll love it. If you're an absolute beginner (me) you'll learn to do stuff you've never done. And everyone there is super duper nice. The workout is a brisk 45 mins and you will be learning new stuff every day. The space is clean, plenty of parking, and the gear is great. They hold these Fight Camps which are a really great way to change your body while learning something new. The coaches are top notch and have the experience and welcoming disposition that is really nice to be around. If you want to try out boxing or have been doing it your entire life, I can't recommend this place enough. You will work hard and you will have a blast. read more

Wanted to leave this review to shout out Tyson Mendeas because he is THE BEST Boxing Coach and the reason why I'm a member of Archetype Boxing Club for as long as I'm in Austin. With over 20+ years of Boxing experience under his belt, he is an attentive coach with a personable and sassy attitude that makes Boxing fun! But let's be real, ALL the Coaches at Archetype are spectacular (Sean, Natalie, Tiger) so if you're looking for a new Boxing Gym, this is the place to be. read more

I've been wanting to try a boxing class out for fun, and when I had an opportunity to use ClassPass credits on one here, I took it. Best decision ever! I had an amazing 45 min. class, and Natalie walked me through everything step-by-step and made sure I felt welcomed and comfortable the entire time - from the minute I walked through the door to the very end of class. I had SO much fun and worked up an awesome sweat, and I can't wait to go back! What really sold me were the great reviews on ClassPass for their classes and their website, where you can feel their genuine appreciation for the beauty of the sport and how they emphasized that they welcome anyone from all levels and backgrounds. Boxing (along with any self-defense or martial arts classes of the sort) can seem extremely intimidating based on how some people portray it. But this place really means what it says when they welcome anyone and everyone and are there to guide you the entire way. I also really enjoyed the small, tight-knit community feel of the club. There are so many awesome people here and I hope to join in as I continue signing up for future classes! read more

This place is great. If you like hitting a bag and getting a workout, this is the place for you. Some people will get in the ring but I'm not on that level. I'm not very experienced or in the best shape and feel comfortable. read more

Awesome new gym in Austin! I've found that most boxing gyms are either super intimidating/unwelcoming or painfully gimmicky with zero attention to technique. Archetype is neither of those things. It's a family run business with a really welcoming environment and a legitimate kickass boxing workout. The coaches are a ton of fun but also clearly experts in their craft. They don't just passively run you through the class, they really take time with you one on one to teach you proper boxing technique to help you actually develop skill. The clientele is also a good mix of newbies and more experienced boxers. And shoutout to all the females taking class! And the workout is super well rounded. Difficult and sweaty, but goes by so quickly. You're not just hitting bags aimlessly or doing rounds of cardio, everything is really boxing-centric. They have a lot of cool technique bags (speed bags, "cobra bags", and one other I don't know what it's called) that I had never used before, but they really help you hone technique. I can't wait to see how this place progresses and grows, and by extension how I do. Go check it out for yourself. read more

This gym was so friendly and knowledgeable! It is expensive but it's worth every penny. Your paying for coaches that know what they are doing and have experience in the sport. Can't beat that! I took a leap of faith and tried this out. As a novice, I had no idea what to expect. Within two minutes I was participating, learning, having fun, and getting a killer workout. It's a fast-paced environment with rotating stations (heavy bags, speed bags, ring work, etc.), so you can't get bored and are focused and moving the whole time. Staff is friendly and helpful but not in your face. I feel like everyone can get as much out of it as they want. Pop in for a fun, intense, and quick workout or start your boxing career. In case this sounds like a fake review, I'll add that it's not the cheapest workout and you will sweat and stink and be sore after a visit! I couldn't be happier. read more

Great new boxing gym in Austin! Even if you have never boxed before you will enjoy this gym and get a great workout. Boxing gyms and instructors can be intimidating to try but Archetype does a good job at structuring the class size and flow to all skill levels. They focus on technique but not so much so that it takes away from you getting a good workout in. The classes include a mix of heavy bag work, holding combos with a partner, speed bags, and body weight movements/abs. The instructors will also do private sessions for those who are interested in 1:1 work. They have gloves there for members to use, as well as clean showers and bathrooms. The instructors clean everything thoroughly after every class. The owners also went all out designing this gym - I love the old school boxing posters as wall paper. The owners, gym staff, and instructors are really what set this gym apart from the rest. They are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and all around good people! Go try a class and you will not regret it! read more

I am obsessed with Archetype! It's truly the best workout and such a fun and friendly atmosphere. It's rare to find an authentic boxing gym that teaches you the fundamentals of technique as well as the appropriate strength and conditioning necessary, which is what sets this place apart from the rest. Aside from feeling strong and getting toned, Archetype has been very helpful for my mindset as well! All of the coaches are so encouraging and helpful. This truly is my happy place! 10/10 would recommend to anyone interested in boxing or just looking for a kick-ass workout! You won't regret it!! read more

Archetype started as a place to challenge myself physically and mentally. It did all of that, and then became a place for community and connection. I boxed all the way until 38 weeks pregnant and was proud of what I was able to accomplish during that time. The coaches are so encouraging and accommodating, and will absolutely meet you where you are. So thankful for this gym, although it feels like so much more than just a gym to me. read more

What an amazing concept boxing & training club. As a first timer I was not sure what to expect, since I'm not a boxer, but was looking for a different workout to experience. Upon entering, you are greeted by the coaches & trainers, we meet Sean the owner, as well as his coaches Tyson ( what a character) , Natalie and Mike. They are all very welcoming, and try to put you at ease. The attendees, were a mix individuals, some looked like intense boxers , and a few 1st timers like myself. They definitely put you at ease, and so as not to feel intimidated. The 1st thing they teach you is how to properly wrap your hands so as to protect your hands. Then they start a group Stretching and exercise to get you loose and limber. The class was completely full, so they then break you into groups , some start on the speed bags at the rear of the gym. Others work on the heavy bags up front, while others get to work in the ring. You get to rotate to different areas in the Gym, to gain experience on all of the equipment, much of which is great in itself. After 45 minutes, you get a great workout . I highly recommend, for anyone looking for a new refreshing workout experience. Will be back read more

Archetype Boxing Club - Boxing Ring - Boxing Near Me - Austin, Texas

Archetype is fantastic and my new favorite workout. It's as tough of a workout as you want to make it, which caters towards any fitness level and generally allows for modifications. The owner/instructors are all super knowledgeable, hands-on, and friendly, so fully feel free to walk in with zero experience and get plenty of help. That to say, if you have experience, they're powerhouses and will tweak you're already-rocking-style, no doubt. I find the entire atmosphere welcoming, fun, and empowering. What to expect? The workout consists of a warmup with body movements, such as pushups, squats, lunges, jump rope, etc., and is followed by three rotations: heavy bag, speed bag, and partner work in the ring (no, you're not going to get punched in the face!) The 45 minute class goes by really quickly. I'm always drenched in sweat; it's effective cardio that is actually fun/stress-relieving, powerful. It will leave you wondering how you ever did monotonous cardio machines. Come for a drop-in class and you'll be hooked...ha! read more

I was hunting for a new gym/workout in Austin for the last year and kept finding the same old same old (gyms with bad vibes, generic fitness clubs, studios with mediocre instructors). Finally, stumbled upon Archetype and couldn't be happier. Addictive, challenging workout with great instructors. Facilities are top notch and brand new. Would highly recommend for folks who are looking for boutique fitness level quality, but without any of the pretentiousness. read more

Great workout, pristine gym and friendly instructors! I was a little nervous because it was my first time boxing and my first time working out in a while, but the class was good for a variety of skill levels. Everyone could go at their own pace on the circuits, and we got to try a variety of different moves, starting with one easy routine and building on the knowledge. Natalie showed me the ropes (pun intended), and she was super encouraging too! Will definitely be back! read more

The Archetype Boxing Club is incredible! I'm visiting from out of state and decided to try this. Btw, I have never boxed in my life before this. So you might think it would be intimidating to go as a first-timer without any boxing experience. This couldn't be further from the truth! The environment is welcoming, and the coaches are super friendly. At no point did it ever feel like others judged me for my lack of experience. Plus, the coaches did take the time to train me properly. By the end of our session, not only did I get a great workout, but I came out of this with some knowledge of proper boxing form. If you're in the Austin area, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! read more

Hands down the best boxing gym in Austin! 1 - The coaches are amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and they break down technique in a safe way for all levels. 2 - The facilities are top notch, very clean, and high quality. You can tell a ton of thought and work went into making this place a 10/10 for clients. 3 - The classes are well organized and you'll learn how to properly box while getting an amazing cardio workout. The classes are not intimidating and are very accessible for first timers. At the same time, they've developed a class format where more advanced boxers can refine their skills. World class instruction and atmosphere!!! I've been doing a variety of mixed martial arts for almost a decade. A couple key factors play a part in membership retention and growth - all of which Archetype has. Friendly/fun/engaging staff, expert coaching/instruction, CLEAN facilities, drills that involve partners which keeps the training unique each class. I would recommend this gym to ANYONE. Whether you've never played a sport or you've competed at the highest level, you've got a home here. read more

Archetype is a new hidden gem in the boxing community in Austin. This gym integrates knowledgeable and fun coaches with a truly unique class format. I've tried out many different boxing gyms in multiple cities/states and its always a mix of ... you walk in on your second day and is thrown into a sparring session orrrr... one coach yells instructions to a class of 30 people and then walks around as people do circuits. At Archetype, there are multiple coaches that focus on a specific part of the exercise wether its bag work or partner drills in the ring. Its like you're getting a semi private lesson regardless of how many people are in the class! The lessons, while following a certain theme, are also changed daily so regular members are constantly challenged with new techniques and combinations. I think this is a great workout for people with or without boxing experience. From the classes I have been able to attend so far It is the smallest things that make the biggest difference. The coaches remember your names, they ask about your hobbies, they care about your growth. The members don't have egos, they introduce themselves and help each other out. The facility is clean and well kept. Overall it has been a fantastic experience training here. read more

I signed up for a boxing class and was super impressed with the facility, friendly and knowledgeable coaches, and dynamic style of the classes. It was a GREAT workout- I will definitely be back! read more

This place is awesome! The Coaches all have backgrounds in at least boxing, and I know Coach Sean has a MMA and Jujutsu career background. The amount of personal attention each class member receives is amazing. I have been to only five classes and have seen tremendous results. The weight has fallen off me and my confidence has grown ten-fold. It is a co-ed environment and Coach Natalie is a fierce teacher. If you are looking to get out of the gym and into something that really makes you sweat your ass off, and build true strength, this is the place for you! I have enrolled my son too and after one month have watched him grow physically and mentally. I am 57. My son is 16. Age is not a factor; but the will to work is a must! read more

This space has been so wonderful. The coaches are so welcoming. I've been Abel to learn techniques. I get the strongest workout. It's clean, cheerful and has the best coaches.
