I was ready to lay down sod myself on this new soil and then I was approached by Tim Potes Landscaping, Inc. He said that he could seed this new area, which would be cheaper than laying sod. When he started throwing grass seed down like he was feeding chickens, I should of stopped him but he said "don't worry I know what I am doing." Needless to say, he did not. As the months went by I told Tim Potes that there were more bare spots than grass, and he said he would take care of it after the winter months. When spring came Tim Potes did nothing and after months of trying to contact him, I asked him what his plans were for this problem. He said, "I have no plans." Then I asked him if this is how he does business. With a grin he said, "Yep that is how I do business." The neighbors told me afterwards not to use Tim Potes Landscaping. (yea, now they tell me)

I really wish I didn't need to write this review. I had been a customer of Tim Pote's Landscaping…read moresince 2003 and was happy with the service. He would proactively take care of my landscaping needs each year, including aerating, fertilizing, and spraying for weeds and bugs. I also had him do occasional one-off projects. In 2016, I hired him to remove a large tree in front of my house and replace it. I spent over $1,000 on the job but only half of the leaves bloomed that summer. Tim explained this was not uncommon due to the shock of moving the tree and that I just needed to give it time. The next year, Tim's service became more erratic. Rather than automatically taking care of the things he'd handled for the previous 14 years, I had to keep calling him and requesting each service. He explained that he had a hard time finding help that summer and that he'd landed a large new customer that was monopolizing his time. Unfortunately, the service level was poor again the following season. In 2019, I told him I was going with a different service and reminded him of his obligation to do something with that tree. Today, the tree looks as bad as it did when he planted it four years ago. I've tried calling and texting him at least six times but he refuses to even acknowledge me. To be clear, I was always very pleasant with him, even during the years of poor performance. I was incredibly patient and always paid him the same day I received his invoices. I considered him to be a friend and am completely disappointed that he's left me in this position.

We did have some "wants" on our list which included a natural gas firepit, natural gas line for grill, seating for ~6-8 people, and enough room for entertain with some food, drinks, and a nice place to relax. From the start to the finish, Grant and Power was completely different than the other companies. Other locations just met you outside, what you wanted, and how big. Then we got a quote. However, when I contacted Grant and Powers, they started out with an email with some essential information like their insurance, a pamphlet and other information to get us started. We talked about what we were looking and then waited for our appointment Our appointment was different. Instead of going outside and talking about size... Gene sat us down to talk to us. He wanted to know what we wanted, what we were looking for and what we wanted to spend. We told him about how we were going to use the space and what we wanted and gave him our budget. Afterwards we talked about modern trends and what designs are in/out, how we wanted to place everything. Then off he went with the rest of the team to start designing it after a small down payment. He asked about budget and we talked about how much it might cost, but of course, the final bill could vary depending on the design. A few weeks later, we had another appointment where he showed us the design and it was amazing. They really sat down and listened to what we wanted because it looked amazing. The budget was completely out of our range.. granted, we knew our budget was on the low side of things, but they were willing to work with us to make this affordable. Finally, our day arrived. We got a call the night before that they were arriving in the morning to get started. During the process, the team were good...i would give them a 4.5/5 for a few minor things.They did talk to us a few times but I wish we were updated better. They were good about protecting our lawn even though some areas did suffer. Luckily (For us and them), our backyard had nothing out there. It was just bare land with green-ish grass. From start to finish, they were done in a week. We waited an extra day for another group of guys to show up to set up the firepit and show us how to use it. They were in and out fairly quickly. In the end, we got a beautiful patio. One section to entertain/eat. The other area is for the firepit and grill. Due to the design, they both feel separate from each other. We did find some minor damages that the team did not let me know or Gene. But he is going out of his way to making it right and I appreciate it. Ive had some neighbors stop by to marvel at the patio. Overall, if I were to ever move away, I would go back to this company to design a beautiful space again. I would completely recommend this company if you are looking for the same.

Amazing response after August's derecho in New Lenox. Our prize 45+ year old massive linden tree…read morewas twisted by the wind and the trunk was split in half. At risk of falling on the house in the next storm, and unable to be climbed due to the precarious nature of the damage, Homer Tree showed up with 4 trucks and a master crew who used a crane and bucket truck to safely saw through the trunk and lift the entire canopy out in two enormous sections, which went right into the chipper. They cut out the rest of the trunk, ground down the stump and the last guy on site used a rake to pick up every last stick and leaf. 45 minutes of extraordinary professionalism. These guys know their stuff. We were extremely sad to lose our amazing, beloved tree but glad we didn't have to worry about or home or property being damaged by inexpert removal. And we were very pleased with the pricing and response time, especially after a disastrous weather event. We heard some outrageous price-gouging quotes. Good to know the local guys are there for the community.

Signed a contract with Homer Tree Care on June 10th for both tree injection and pruning. The…read moreinjection was completed in July, but the pruning was never completed. I completely understand that weather and storms can cause delays, especially with the number of storms we've had recently. However, the bigger issue has been the lack of communication. I never received any updates and had to repeatedly reach out myself for information. The office staff has been difficult to deal with and often comes across as dismissive. When I called today for an update, I was told the pruning was being looked at to be scheduled in October. I questioned the timing and decided to cancel. The tree has already started to shed since fall is around the corner. I want to be fair because I understand that weather related emergencies can and should take priority. My frustration is that there has been zero proactive communication throughout this process. These services aren't inexpensive, and as a customer, I shouldn't have to repeatedly call just to find out what is happening with a service I contracted and paid for months ago. Kayli was amazing and was very apologetic and helpful when I was able to communicate with her via email. Unfortunately, the office staff who answers the main line really tarnishes the overall experience with the company.
