Great little local deli. Had the Spicy Italian hoagie. It was fantastic. $11 for this beast. Definitely will be back.

On my recent trip to PA to tour apartments and daycares, I found myself in the Sellersville area…read moreright around dinnertime. Rather than driving 50+ minutes in rush hour traffic to my hotel in the King of Prussia area, I decided I'd rather get a quick bite before hitting the road. The interior of this place definitely gives early 90s Pizza Hut vibes (I say this in the best way, I'm a sucker for nostalgia). I could sit wherever I wanted, and a friendly server quickly greeted me. I looked through their (huge) menu, but once I saw their display with slices, I thought that would be the best route for me. I chose a slice of cheese pizza and a slice of the Grandma pizza (which was labeled as a "tomato and basil flatbread" on the display). These slices were generously sized, so I was only able to finish a slice and a half before I was quite full. The Grandma pizza's crust was great, but overall this was a bit too herb-y for my tastes. The basil overpowered pretty much everything else. The cheese slice, however, was delicious. A month prior to this visit, I was in NYC, and this slice came pretty close to the ones I had in the city. I'll absolutely get this pizza again on my next visit (given how my apartment tours went, there's a good chance I'll be back here). But I'm also keen to try other items on the menu since there's so much from which to choose.

We have been to Chiaros once before, about a year ago. We were in a rush and just stopped on a whim…read morebecause we were in the area. I didn't think much about the place either way, and kinda forgot about it. Then, last week we were at an event at Papa Joes Grove and I was starving. There was no food to be had, so I thought of the pizza place we went to that one time. My husband ordered me my favorite pie, chicken parm with ricotta, and ran to get it. It was hands down the best chicken parm pie in the area. It had the right amount of sauce, mozzarella, and ricotta. The crispy chicken was so crispy and delicious and the crust was crispy from the first bite all the way to the edges. So, this week when he asked what I wanted for take out, I said I want the chicken parm pie from Chiaros!!! Since we really didn't remember our very first meal there over a year ago, we decided to try some other fun things from their menu. We tried the fried grilled cheese mozzarella sandwich and it was actually very good! It sounded a little strange but it was yummy and crispy and came with a good dipping maranara. We also tried the wings. We got the garlic parm flavor and I did not care for them. The sauce tasted like pepper only and there was no discernible garlic or Parmesan. They were over cooked and not crispy at all. My husband ate them tho and thought they weren't bad but unimpressive. Of course we got the chicken parm pie as well, and it was not as good as the one we had the week before. I was sort of disappointed about that. Not to say it wasn't still good, and honestly probably still the best around, but the chicken was different, for starters. Last week seemed like it was chicken tenders cut up and thrown on top, which made it very crispy, and the chicken itself was round, or plump if that makes sense. This week it was more like a cutlet or something used for a chicken sandwich. It was flatter and definitely not as crispy. But still good. The cheeses and sauce ratio was still perfect as well, but the crust was nowhere near as crispy, either. It was thicker and mushy until you got to the ends. More like what I have come to expect from the basic PA pizza. Possibly because we were 5 minutes away last week and this week we took a 15 minute ride to get it? Idk, but I still do plan to order the chicken parm pie again, but I will ask for a thinner and crisper crust. Definitely still recommend this place as well.

The dining area seats no more than 24 and is expertly managed by Carl. Things started with a delightful amuse buoche. Ours was a bite of bison brisket on an herbed crema. Then came a hot from the oven biscuit. The fish course was roasted grouper perfectly prepared and plated. Next up was sautéed shrimp on a vanilla sweet corn sauce with roasted okra. Then came seared rare slices of NY strip with broccoli rabe, scalloped potatoes, and steamed albino beans. A scoop of watermelon sorbet to cleanse the palette was followed by a desert of peach bread pudding with blueberry compote and crème freche. Service was friendly, professional, and attentive. The dining room was warm and comfortable. And the food? We loved the succession of bites and plates. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. The chef and his team are focused on and really care about the details. In terms of the overall experience, Maize was at least as good as fancy, super-pricey Philly restaurants like Lark. We'll definitely be back!
