The students specifically pick Humboldt because they had abusive childhoods or trauma they wanted to get super far away from while still having in-state tuition. This leads to highly traumatized young adults flocking to one area and being on their own for the first time. The bullying, harassment, several mental instability, etc. of some of these students is shocking and almost everyone I know has an extreme story of harassment due to this. PLEASE pick anywhere else. Yes, you may have a wonderful time and get lucky - but this school is far more likely that others to leave you with severe trauma, especially when paired with how highly isolated it is from outside support and resources.

Some professors that you think would be anti-sexist participated in sexism against men. And one professor was a bit too touchy-feely. A few professors in one department did not hold class during the Pro-Palestinian/Anti-Genocide occupation, and others would sometimes suddenly not hold class due to "personal reasons" or unpreparedness, or let people out early (like one professor letting students out 30 minutes early every class). Like any life-changing experience, I have good memories and bad ones. However, the bad ones were of the hypocritical type and should not have occurred. Plus, students are paying for their education--giving them "free time" is not a freebie...students are paying and going into debt for those "freebies." But other than that, the school is a pretty chill environment for learning.

Musicians play in a big, comfortable space decorated with very interesting art, antiques and seemingly random objects that make you smile. You can read, write, work on your own crafting projects or simply watch the musicians. There are tables and chairs by the big windows where you can spread out, and comfortable seats facing the musicians. There were delicious scones (sweet or savory), fresh coffee drinks and a self-service tea station. You can drop in at any time, and payment is all on the honor/donation system, with no concrete pricing posted. It's a surreal space where you can really relax and get creative! It looks like they have several recurring monthly events and host art exhibits & musical performancee, all listed on their website.

For instance you can rent out books, articles or scientific periodicals from other California state universities and I was told also order from international Universities. The benefit of being a grad school is that you can have books up to one year until return date is due and rent out their cam corders and camera for an extended period of time . I started off at this school in 2017 and I definitely have seen many renovations through the years including the café, study rooms, tall shelving and interactive group desks, where group members can meet an use a TV to connect to class projects or the Internet. Till this day the library still has a glass case where they display a wide assortment of clubs, issues and events on campus, with nice added touches of regalia/memorabilia! I highly appreciate the fact that this library recycles electronics this can be found at the exit of the library in the main entrance.
