In a clean and spacious sit down restaurant setting. A variety of activities are also available to the residents . Art and painting groups are available weekly. Along with group games. Arcadia Pl., has friendly and helpful staff to assist the residents . They always have a smile on their face and positive attitudes. Transportation locally is provided four days a week, which includes shopping, medical appointments, and special organized outings. A beautiful grass courtyard is the center of the complex which includes a dog park. Plenty of walking space and benches to enjoy the beautiful North County weather are provided. I am a nurse here in San Diego . I had my mom Ellen at Arcadia place. I was impressed by the experience and employment longevity of staff that have stayed with the company for years. Tim (manager) was very good. He was present and available throughout the time my mother stayed until she passed away. He was accommodating during the difficult periods. He was pleasant and would help trouble shoot problems with clients. It's common knowledge that if you are respectful you will be respected. Tim was very polite patient and kind. I have worked with elderly patients. And I know it is hard work. Let's face it not all of our parents are perfect angels all the time. I also loved the social events, Holiday parties, live music. And dancing! Mom received a lot of attention and enjoyed feeling like a young gal again. Melisa and the girls in the office admin were compassionate and lent an ear every time I needed support. The food was really good at times and great other times ,the dinning room and room service superb. This place is a big bang for the buck. It was affordable and not the $6-8K per month you will pay for in other facilities. My mom like most was on a fixed income. The room sizes are great. We enjoyed visiting EVERYONE! If you send your parents here you clearly don't care about them, nurses lack knowledge, the food is crap and the manager is a total d*uchebag tool with no care. If you are trying to dump your parent off and rarely visit them like most people.. there's a lot of better options like Bayshire in Rancho Mirage and at least they can go to casino or the fact there's more of active senior citizen community. The company as a whole seems very basic and they seem to be about basic b*tch program. Their standards is like a internment camp. Seriously no lie they served bruised fruit with fruit flies around, instead of throwing out bad strawberries they picked out the good ones or cut off the bad parts and the served moldy bread god only knows how they didn't see the mold but again there's a lack of care here. Even the kitchen wasn't very clean either and poorly ran but when the floor looked as dirty and beaten up as it looked.. what can everyone expect? If you hate or just love your parents this is the perfect get back cause this is literally a prison. read more

To:  Staff. Now that the COVID CRISIS seems to be on the wane, and I say that lightly, and after of year of constraints, I just want to say to all of you  "WELL DONE". We Residents, have no idea of the added stress and work you have had to do to keep the 'Fogeys' safe and sound.  I can only imagine the problems you have had to deal with, I'm sure they are many.  But never, has this added responsibility reflected on the services you provide/supply. I think this really shows, in that none of your Residents have been infected by this dread disease.  The restrictions have been very hard on us, but, your efforts to keep our spirits high have been important to us.  The smiling faces of the staff have been more important to us than you probably realize.  Just seeing a smile means, 'Hey, everything is alright" even if it isn't. Anyway, I just want to personally thank all-ya-all for making the pandemic as easy on us as possible. Even though I know you get many complaints. Glad to learn that this place has been sold by Holiday Senior Living. I cannot imagine why anyone who spends time there can give it a positive review. When my mother moved in about 2 years ago the place was getting a bit shaggy in spots, but the so-called "refurbishment" took away any of any remaining charm. It's lovely furniture, chandelier and warm environment, all gone. Not my style but those are the things older residents enjoy and make them feel like they are living the good life. So why take them away and replace them with cheap furnishings, a cold palette of blues and greens and frameless plastic coated pictures from Target? Now it feels like a sad nursing home. That feeling coupled with rent increases has led to residents moving out in droves. (My mother keeps track and gives me a report.) But the worst part is the food. I'm no gourmet, and I don't have a sophisticated palette so I can eat just about anywhere well, except maybe for gas station unless they have Hostess Twinkies. The first few times at Arcadia Place the food was decent, but as it got worse I called their corporate office to complain. My mother tried to work with the "chef" (I don't know why they insist on calling him that) but there was little change. During Covid it has gotten so bad that my mother calls "slop," and I agree! I had fish tacos and refried beans--I was shocked! The tortillas weren't prepared properly so they disintegrated, there was just a tiny bit of cabbage and no white sauce. The refried beans were as runny as soup and had no flavor--how can you mess up refried beans? So if you are interested in this place I warn you to do your due diligence. Check out other facilities in comparison. Talk to residents not just the front desk attendant or salesperson. (The current receptionist accused my mother of not paying her rent but we had the cancelled check, so don't be too sure that "she's a really nice lady.") Check out the menu-what do they serve? Is jello or slices of watermelon a substitute for dessert? Do they season the food or assume residents can't taste the difference? Is the person they call "chef" a real certified chef or a wolf in chef's clothing? Do they use fresh ingredients or just open up a package of Costco Swedish meatballs and call it done? Please, please do your research especially if you are going to buy the contract to keep rent the same for your duration. You could be stuck with a rent plan you can't afford to leave with food you cannot eat and a "b...h" of a receptionist. read more

I had visited Arcadia and was happy to hear and see how pleasant the staff was to me and the residents. The place is clean and appealing. My grand parents live here and the people here take real good care of them. They actually don't have to bad of food either. I've been here for thanksgiving and a few other times Christmas today and I always get feed and they have a nice dinning room with people who serve you. read more

I need to take a moment to thank the caretakers and staff at Arcadia Place. My Mom and Stepdad moved in about a year before Covid hit. Then it was A totally different situation. An open dining hall. A activities director, field trips to fun restaurants Excercise classes and creative things to engage and keep the residents active. Then Covid hit. All their programs have been forced to stop. Instead of serving in the lovely dining room they 3 times a day, deliver meals right to their doors. The work load has tripled just to keep the residents fed and safe. There has not been a single case of Covid in Arcadia which is a report card of how hard they have been working. I am so incredibly grateful to the staff who have done for my parents what I can not do. Kept them safe , fed, healthy and jumped thru hoops to keep them happy. Sharon at Arcadia is very nice and helped me a lot as I was looking for a place for my mom. While my mom ended up going in a different direction for care, we will keep Arcadia in mind for the future as Sharon gave a lovely tour and it really seems like a unique place in terms of the care they provide and the independence they give their residents. read more

This place is a okay place, people are friendly and nice. But place does need a major over haul . Needs in some repairs. They do need some people that can speak good English , they hired a activity director that you can barely understand. And the people that live there can't understand her ... But other then that place is clean and even has a beauty salon which is great for the people that live there read more

I'm not a resident, but our Toastmasters group meets there every Thursday morning. I've been attending for over five years now. The facility is awesome. If you are looking for a full service facility, Arcadia Place deserves a visit. Every meeting we can smell the home cooked breakfasts being prepared & it smells great. It is always clean and the staff seems happy and many have been there a long time. One of our member's mother is a resident and she likes it there. Shawn, the manager, is very friendly & helpful. I wish there was more transparency. I visited with my neighbors on December 6th 2017. They are looking toward future retirement, so Jim my friend, invited us all up for a lovely lunch. Then Sharon, who was very pleasant, showed us a 1 bedroom apartment... I told her I was looking for a studio. She said they had one down the end of the hall that, after re carpeting would be $2500. but couldn't be seen until the carpet etc was in. I call yesterday, because it was ready for viewing. The price yesterday was $2549. I was stretching at $2500.! I called Kelley, the lady that runs the operation. I said there had to be a mistake...I am ready to start the move in process and in 2 weeks, with no possible viewing, your price went up $49.! I explain that Jim has a $300. larger pension than me, and he was living in #239 for $2250. push $25. for his dog. I had an idea...the apartments were feet apart, Jim could rent the one for $2549. plus pet and I could rent his. That way our apartments would be just about few hundred dollars over both our different size pensions. Both ladies, Kellie and Sharon understood and work tirelessly trying to get this done. We understood Jim would have to pay the move in rate lock over again (Jim and I were going to split all the added on costs beyond rent, right from the start....well then, at about 3pm, they couldn't get an OK for Jim rent, which is $2274 (pet included)... and Jim just moved in the smaller apartment 3 months ago, October 1st with 2 days prorated from the end of September! He moved in just as the carpet was laid! He was willing and I was willing to pay any fees up front, when the boomarang came down. If he moved to the other apartment, that he could afford and I moved to his smaller apartment that I could afford, my rent would be $150. over what he was paying, I think pets would be extra! He just moved in as they finished carpeting #239 in October. This is 3 months later! He is going to take the bigger studio and I could have his smaller apartment for $150. over what he is paying.(It had gone up $150.!) The ladies said they were trying to work with us...I had my check book ready but Jim and I couldn't understand the math! I thank the ladies for all their efforts and drove home! Could someone explain how Holiday retirement can have no heart!? (or transparency) You would be getting over the $2500. (You would be getting $2549!) ....Jim, who has been in room #239 for 3 months would switch, we would pay all those costs, but then his rent would be hiked, for me, my rent for his smaller room would go up an extra $150.! Transparency for retirees! The ladies were gracious, but it was such an unproductive experience. It reminded me of buying a used car at an unlicensed dealer! An unforgettable day. read more

Would not recommend Arcadia Place. Don't sign a contract till your move-in day. My Dad had not moved in yet...called to cancel due to circumstances out of our control. They will only refund us $900 out of $3400.00 he paid. They did nothing for us. But they got their money. read more
