I was in town to visit friends recently and decided to hit up Arcade Shock because I've been contemplating modding. There are so many parts to choose from, and the gentleman who helped me gave me a lot of input from the way the parts sounded and operated. There's so much to choose from. I ended up spending over $120 in parts to replace the shaft, ball, joystick, and all the buttons on the top of the board. I bought a used stick from OfferUp, and a few of the buttons and joystick had issues with inputs. I chose buttons that are adjustable, silent, and bought a new joystick to solve an input sometimes not registering. I'd definitely consider going again when I'm in town! So yesterday I finally got a chance to stop by ArcadeShock which is actually a retail shop in LA recommended by Rod. That place is pretty cool as they are super knowledgeable with fight sticks and buttons, and even got FC setup ready to play where I took a few jabs at some level B player in Mexico There's not many of these shops left around and for the local folks if you need any stuff or parts, I highly recommend these guys and seems very cool the dude helping us. I picked up a dozen on sanwas buttons, and was able to install it last night with some sandpaper I found in my garage to bore the holes wider and forcing the buttons in (vs using some drills, SupraWhite recommended this, smart). Being able to test things out in person was a lifesaver and the owner and staff were incredibly helpful in getting me set up. I always assume it'll take 10 days or so because that tends to be the case with most of the other arcade parts distributors, but then I'm completely shocked and somewhat "confused" as to how I have a package on my porch from Arcade Shock 3 or 4 days after my purchase. A few months back, I went to arcade shock to get a power cord replaced. They did a good job and everything. HOWEVER, I ordered some pushbuttons bc the other ones were getting worn out. I'm unscrewing the back plate and notice some are tighter than others. One of the screwholders just straight up collapsed from so much torque added. I had to put tape on it so no debris gets in. One screw is just permanently stuck with glue from the plate holding it in place. Store straight up gets three stars bc good parts but not knowing how much force to use when handling a qanba backplate. read more
