After having a great experience with another ARC while my wife was pregnant, we decided to have our newborn as well as myself start going to the nearest ARC to our house - ARC Southwest. It seemed good at first, including the ability to see a doctor same day and call and speak to a nurse. But it's gotten really awful and now we'll be finding new doctors for all of us. I dropped off some paperwork for my son's daycare for them to sign. They said it would be 1-2 days. I called after 2 days to see if it was ready, and was put on hold for 15 minutes. It was a 2 minute drive to the clinic, so I just drove there with them on hold. No one had picked up by the time I got there, so I just asked one of the irritable ladies at the front desk. She said she would check with someone, and after talking to two people and then calling someone, she said that they weren't picking up. She didn't walk the 10 feet to the person she was calling, didn't offer any solutions, just said that I could wait. So I waited. And waited. And after 45 minutes, they finally found the paperwork and gave it to me. It was signed the previous day. Last week, I stopped by to get treated for what I thought was a ringworm infection. The doctor was nice enough and got my results in about an hour. He sent a prescription to the pharmacy. I get to the pharmacy and they tell me that it's $35 because it's not covered by insurance since it's an over the counter medication. I asked her what the price for the exact same medication would be if I just bought it from the aisle right behind me, and it was $7. I spoke to the Pharmacist directly and she confirmed that yes, it was the exact same thing as what the doctor prescribed. Why would the doctor try to trick me into paying 5x as much for the treatment? This morning my 3 month old had a cough. I called ARC and spoke to someone and was told that they would call me back. That was at 7:30am this morning. It is now 2:30pm and I haven't heard anything. As a new parent, this is really not the kind of service that I am looking for. I do NOT recommend this place. They are unorganized, they don't seem to care about the patients at all, and they have awful customer service. EDIT - The clinic manager at this ARC called me the same day I posted this review (and sent them a message with the same content). She was incredibly helpful and apologetic, but most importantly took the time to put some of these experiences in context and also explain what they are doing to improve on these issues. While it doesn't change my experiences, it does change my perception of this ARC overall. I really hope that I am able to come back in a few months and revise this review after what I hope will be more positive experiences in the near future. EDIT - 1 year later and I'm changing my review back to 1 star. While I have left and will never return, my wife still goes here. She continues to have billing problem after billing problem and they don't seem to be able to send necessary medical over to other medical offices. They are completely disorganized and unprofessional and you should avoid them at all costs. If they can't figure out how to pick up the phone, send you the correct bill, or do other simple tasks, how are they going to take care of your health? read more

I went in with a terrible stomach ache, and I was very worried I may have an Ulcer. The doctor immediately recognized an Ulcer wasn't the case, and they treated me for food poisoning. It must of been the shrimp tacos I ate from the food truck. I walked out feeling better in only a few hours! Thank y'all! read more

I recently, was referred to Dr. Samuel Long by Dr. Leong . Dr. Long did surgery on me. Before he did he explained everything about what was involved and what needed to be done and why. He is such a wonderful, caring , compassionate surgeon. He went out of his way to make sure I understood everything that he did. Expressed such sincere concern. I highly recommend him. I really do love ARC Southwest. All of the personnel there are very nice and treat you like family. Especially Dr. Kapadia the doctor I chose is the best as well as her nurse Lisa. The personal attention you receive just everything about them is the best. I will never go anyplace else. During the pandemic they have it altogether for one's safety. Love them. read more

Pros: * Better than an urgent care location because you can usually get in fairly quick to see someone and you can schedule it. * Nifty print-out they give you with your vitals, medicine, doctor, and other details. * Automated check-in system (it's still in progress but cuts down the line for folks with more complex issues). * Despite other reviews, I found them fairly good in terms of price. Cons: * When the doctor says "call me if you have any problems" that doesn't appear to be a possibility. When I called and tried to speak to someone about a medication that wasn't doing the expected, they just setup another appointment. The nurses line wasn't very helpful. * Just like everywhere else, it's important to research your doctor (e.g. vitals.com). There are good ones here and there not so good ones. Recommendations * Generally speaking ask for generics with the doctors here. There's some fancy drugs that maybe your insurance covers and maybe it doesn't. I had a situation where the very expensive option didn't even work and I just ended up going with the generic one. It would have saved everyone a lot of time to discuss both options. Overall I'm comfortable with this place handling non-serious issues, but where you might be up against something serious, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Dr A Cox has been my Gyn since 2017 and has provided adequate care. My last visit however I went in to check my IUD but was charged for the exam AND 2 different labs that I did not ask for. One was a lab to test for exactly what she already diagnosed me with on a prior visit and I asked to get an Rx antibiotic to treat it. Then she did an std swab too although I am married and monogamous and also did NOT bring that as a concern. Billing dept took off the std panel "as a one time courtesy". Meanwhile, I am left w a $614 bill which includes tests I didn't need or ask for. Make sure you ask specifically what each swab is for before you get billed for tests you don't need. My experience with the lab work was disappointing because they were not able to do all the tests and it was partially done by another lab. I received 2 copays, when I asked a lady from a billing department why they don't notify the patient about possible split and multiple co pays , she said they don't have to. Next time I will go to another lab. read more

I took my boyfriend ofmany years to ARC to see Dr De Castro about a fever and really bad cough that had been going on for over a week. No one took his temperature; we asked Dr De Castro about his cough. He said he's fine see y'all in 6 months. He gave him a prescription for a cough syrup like robitussin. I called the office back 3 days later that he was worse. No reply; I called back 5 days later, no reply. I took my boyfriend to my dr. He did a chest X-ray and found infection, cops and beginnings of emphysema. This dr gave him antibiotics and a steroid inhaler and some cough syrup. He said the one he had been prescribed by Castro was an over the counter cough syrup. About a week later we got a call from dr de Castro. What a joke. Don't go there. read more

ARC has been my healthcare point for most of my time in Austin more out of laziness than anything else. The big plus about ARC is that they have lots of doctors with tons of locations around Austin. My work location depends on what client I have, and I live a good enough distance from the office that it doesn't help to have a doctor close to home. ARC provides stability to my needs of having variety when I need to see a doctor ASAP. You can almost surely get an appointment at one of their locations within hours of inquiring. The big minus on ARC is that I've never had a doctor that has really spent any time with me to diagnose the problem. They throw everything up to Austin allergies, and prescribe the same stuff even if you tell them that it wasn't effective last time. I can just picture the scence in my head: Doctor: "What appears to be the problem?" Me: "Well Doc, I have this bullet lodged in my left leg and can't stop the bleeding." Doctor: "Well Bryan, the cedar counts have been high this week." Me: "Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I've been shot. Can you get the bullet out?" Doctor: "Ok, ok. I've got you down for some Flonase and Astelin. Just be sure not to tilt your head back too much when you snort this stuff." I know the difference between allergies and really being sick. These guys don't. Back in November I went in and was promised that I was only having allergies and wasn't contagious later to find out that this was not accurate and that I had passed the illness to my wife. I know the allergies are bad here in Austin, but these doctors need to start listening to their patients more. I'm not putting the place below 3 stars because the staff have always been very nice and the flexibility is just so much higher than anything else I've found. I'm really disappointed because I have been a patient with Austin Regional Clinic for many years. My children have a fantastic Doctor there, Dr. Busheme is great. Unfortunately, she is only a Pediatric Doctor. I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Frazier however (thinking that the practice has multiple great Doctors) and the experience has been horrible. She called in and cancelled THREE of my appointments for a physical that I had scheduled months before. I didn't get a message re: the third cancellation so I showed up for my appointment and the girls at the front desk were rude to me. Rude to me! Before the first appointment, I went in for my labs and even though they got my blood work - I never rec'd a call with regard to the results. I am trying to get my prescription refilled and they will not respond to the pharmacy after several attempts. Now I've left a message with the office and so far, no call back. This place is ridiculous. Don't go here. Find yourself a clinic that will care about their patients and take pride in what they do. :( read more

It only takes one bad experience for someone to vent... this is mine. I have never been to ARC but with their answering service staff's tone of voice and belittlement, I probably will never visit. It is unfortunate that all it takes is good customer service to gain someone's new business. I called twice in a 10 minute window to see if I would be treated the same and I was. Both ladies who answered could care less if I was sick or not they just wanted my information without asking me for a reason for my visit. Someone really needs to call in from their corporate side and act as a consumer so that they understand how you patients feel. If I have to drive more to see a different physician than I will, because at least I'll be treated as a valuable customer. Furthermore, as the answering service lady asked me for my information and after all the fuss, she then continued to transfer me for a 6 minute wait. I couldn't wait and I was in pain so I hung up and called back hoping to get her on the line again to tell her how I felt. I have not been here but if you're reading this and looking for good patient care, I would avoid Austin Regional Clinic. read more

Stewart Browning is my MD at this clinic. But, this review is not for him; because, I could not get in to see him today as a walk in. I had an accident at work (a deep puncture wound with a gardening tool) that did not warrant an ER visit so I drove straight here. I arrived during the nurses lunch hour (12 - 1PM) and was given a 1:30 PM appointment with a nurse. My name was called promptly just before 1:30 the nurse whisked me back unbandaged my bandages (confirmed that I did not need stitches) cleaned out my wound wrapped me back up gave me a syringe and instructions on how to clean out my wound at home and gave me a tetanus shot in less than 15 minutes! Stewart Browning is also a full 5 stars if you want a specific Dr. recommendation for this clinic. I highly recommend this clinic - every time I have needed to get in they make it happen and everyone is very kind! And if you do not have insurance the give a deep discount - my bill came to 113.00 after the discount it was only 77.25. read more

UPDATE: Now I am being charged for the additional blood draw that was due to ARC incompetence, full pushback and not making any adjustments to my invoice or taking ownership of their error.. Aside from flu season, I've never had issues getting into ARC Southwest and if I do, the receptionist will happily schedule an appointment at one of their other locations while I am still on the phone so that I don't have to hang up and dial elsewhere. That being said, I love Dr. Grimes. She has changed my negative perspective on family practice doctors that wouldn't take me seriously in the past. I feel like she REALLY listens to me and gives me the answers that I need to hear and explains things to me so that I actually understand what's going on. I also love the new MyChart login that they have setup now so I can access my info anywhere (they have a smart phone app) and even make appointments online OR email my doctor if I just have a question or need a prescription refill. People can bash ARC all they want but as another reviewer said, it only takes ONE bad experience for someone to vent and leave a poor review so make sure you REALLY read the other reviews on here and decide if this is the place for you. I find it extremely convenient to be able to use any of their numerous locations and still have all my info in one place so that's definitely something to consider. read more

I went in for a spider bite/skin infection and left with the wrong type of antibiotic prescription and a huge scratch on my arm from an ACC student who worked in the blood lab. They wouldn't let me see a regular doctor, just a glorified nurse who, had she taken the time to listen, might have put me on the correct antibiotics. Won't be going here again, found a fantastic Doctor at the Far West Clinic who put me on the right antibiotics and solved the mystery skin infection! read more

When Dr. Browning as a PCP it was worthwhile, but now that he has moved into urget care, I would avoid it like the plague. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back when I had a 3p appt and after being on time and waiting 1 hour, I was still not called up. I went up to the front desk to let them know I couldn't wait any longer and right as I walked out I heard them call my name. Absolutely terrible to have a 3p appt and make someone wait an hour, not to mention when they bring you back you have to wait another 30 mins before you actually see the doctor. It's funny they will charge you a visit (and they almost were going to charge me when I had to leave) if you are late more than 15 mins, but they won't make your visit free if you have to wait over an hour past your appt to see the doctor. read more

Last night I came in for an after hours visit after hurting my back working out. I was in a lot of pain so I was grateful that they could fit me in albeit wasn't until 810pm. My husband and I get there and I noticed a sign that said they were running 45 min late. Ok fine I can wait. Sure enough it did take about 45 min for the nurse to call us back. The nurse asked all pertinent questions, took my vitals, and confirm my pharmacy for which I said "Cvs on William cannon and Manchaca". She said "Ok" as if confirming what I had said. Dr. Chen came in, examined me, diagnosed me with a muscle strain, and prescribed my meds. He was very kind and thorough and he apologized for the wait. The visit itself was fine, other than the wait. Now is where it gets annoying. We get to the pharmacy, it turns out although the cvs is opened until midnight, the pharmacy closed at 9. Not their fault, we picked the pharmacy. When I called to speak with the nurse about changing the pharmacy so we could get my meds right away, the triage nurse made me wait about 10 min on the phone... finally get him back on and he has to take my number for the on call nurse to call back. Well it took that nurse about 45 min to call back. By then it's 1030pm and we are already home and in bed as my husband has to get up early. So no meds for me tonight since it took the nurse forever to call back. Now the best part...my husband goes to pick up my meds first thing in the morning... THEY SENT THE SCRIPT TO THE WRONG CVS!!! After we specifically asked for a certain pharmacy, it wasn't right. So now my husband has to go to a different cvs and wait to have it filled. I'm a nurse myself, so I get it when things are busy people have to wait but it's pretty basic to be able to call someone back in a timely fashion and get the pharmacy correct when the patient is specifying which one they want. I'm expected to answer call lights in a certain time, and a on call nurse should call back in a reasonable timeframe as well. Super disappointed on top of having to be in pain all night. We go to ADC for my 1 year old daughter and whenever I have had to call the on call nurse, we get a call back in max 15 min... maybe it's time for me to start going there for my care as well. read more

Ok, I hate the word clinic, and I hate the waiting room. I'm always thinking my kids are going to walk out of there more sick than when we walked in. I sure hope they clean those chairs. I also don't like the fact that I can't call and talk to my doctor. Other than that, I can ALWAYS get an appointment for my kids or myself. They doctors are outstanding. I needed shot records and they got them to me in the same day. And I can call and talk to a nurse at any time. They are always helpful and kind. Dr. Rasmussen, dermatologist, told me "you're a mess" in response to my painful widespread eczema reaction to a shampoo/conditioner. I had waited for 6 weeks for this appointment. I was in bad shape, and my skin was a source of embarrassment and chronic pain. I guess this was his attempt at sympathy & humor?? Another time, I expressed interest in finding out the source of my reactions, and he basically told me to have no hope in that, even though I now know that there is a test for reactivity to chemicals! This was never offered as a choice to me. At a return visit once, he refused to acknowledge that the terrible condition of my hands wasn't responding to his treatment, even after I told him I had medicine at my kitchen sink, my car, and my office... and things weren't any better. He was regularly condescending, dismissive, and insulting. I have now found a doctor who actually listens to me. I can't believe I saw this man and spent money there multiple times before I wizened up. I had chalked the first couple of times as him having a bad day. No. His attitude never improved. I hated seeing him, he made me feel like my hyper sensitive, dermatitis skin was my fault somehow. He told me that this was just what I should expect from it, nothing to do but re-actively treat it.... which is bull. Avoid this doctor. read more

I am only giving this place two stars so readers won't think this is a troll. -2 is more appropriate. First why does it take an hour wait every time I go there to get seen? The waiting room is always empty. Who are they treating? Dead people? Second their billing department is completely incompetent, especially if you have more than one health insurance plan. My wife has three and they always get the insurances mixed up, so they send us a bill saying we owe like $650 for 3 visits and insurance has paid nothing. This means I have to call my insurance and arrange a three-way conference between myself, the insurance, and their billing department to tell them they filed their papers wrong, since they'll never take my word for it. This is a regular occurrence. I have to spend an hour a week easily going through this charade. And I got laid off my last job partly because I always had to spend so much time arguing with their billing department instead of actually working. And no, I can't call them when I'm off work because my insurance hotline closes when I get off work. They should be paying me to do their billing! And now my wife just got told she's banned for life just because she had an argument with one of their doctors while she was pregnant at the hospital. Let me explain. She was pregnant with our second child after just having lost the first. She made it to 22 weeks when her cervix became 3cm dilated, so she was admitted to the hospital. The second was very close to going too, so she was understandably on edge. Fortunately, the second baby made it in the end and everything seemed fine. That was almost a year ago and just now she's getting banned. She's gotten along great with every doctor ever since, not a single incident. Why ban her now? And why no warning? No probation period at the very least? We didn't even know ARC had a problem with us. At least give us a chance to fix things. But no. ARC treats you like cattle. You're just a number to them. They don't care what you have going on in your life. Had an incident or two despite mitigating circumstances? Banned for life! Disagree with a diagnosis? Banned For Life! Write a nasty Yelp review? BANNED FOR LIFE! Do not give Austin Regional Clinic your business. You have been warned! read more

I love this place. Never had any bad experience. I see Dr. Porter and she's the best. She's warm, thorough and spends some time with me, not "in-and-out" like a lot of doctors. I've never waited more than 20 minutes and that usually happens only when I'm a few minutes late and mess up their schedule. My family and I go to ARC for many years and I recommend them highly. They have a lab onsite, which is very convenient. They have pediatrics, internal medicine, gastroenterology, podiatry, orthopedics and I don't know what else. Recently they added a dermatologist. Great to have all this at one place. No complaints here. read more

I never go to the Dr. Read: NEVER. If I get sick, I use the remedies Dr's in the past have given me and some new ones, mostly homeopathic. So when I recently began to have stomach issues, which I thought was food poisoning, but realized it wasn't, I was really glad to have this place ready and available for my ailing tummy. I was lucky to get Dr. Browning. He's been reviewed all over Yelp and he was the one I wanted. Unfortunately, he's only in the 'Urgent Care' facility now, but hey, that was fortunate for me! He was able to see me at 1pm on the day of my call. This location is new to us, it having been on Brodie for so long. The new-ish facility is very clean, well laid out, HUGE. They even have a 'sick area' for kids. THANK GOODNESS!! My hubby got sick from some kids last time we happen to need a visit at the Brodie location. He vowed to never go back. This section for the little one's helps me feel more at ease, don't want to be more ill than need be! When you arrive, you check-in and pay what you owe before the visit. Then, go to the waiting area, and from there, I was called by a nurse, she did the usual temp taking and then led me to my room. (It's a bit of a maze it's so big, but good signage helps). She took my story down, asking questions, taking my blood pressure, she was very likable, funny and laid back. Then the Dr came in a few minutes later. He was nice. Very down to earth guy. He was open to our diagnoses, no matter how silly they may have seemed. He took in all the information and provided us what he thought was the best solution right now. (Stomach problems can be a sign of Gall Bladder issues I've learned). Sent my script right over to my pharmacy and that was it. Picked up my script, and 4 days later, I'm all better. What I really liked about Dr. Browning: I informed him of my absolute dislike for taking any ANTI-biotics. PRO is fine with me, but will only take Anti if my situation really (really) calls for it. He didn't give me a lecture, didn't judge me, as so many other Western Dr's have, and explained what it would do, and how soon I could/ should take a Pro-biotic formula. That really is what gets 4 stars in my book. I have peace of mind knowing a good Dr is nearby for my next non-home remedy curing illness. A BIG THANK YOU!! :) read more

I can't begin to explain how welcoming this facility has been. I have been to Dr. Ebneshahidi here twice and he always makes it a point to not only do thorough exams but also explain his reasoning to me behind decisions made. He makes sure that I feel confident and comfortable with the service he provides. He is patient with my explanations of what is going on with my health, really listens, and takes time to come up with all possible roots and solutions to whatever is going on. He never just throws a prescription at it, but always makes sure that is the best plan of action first. The front office staff have always been welcoming and so easy to work with as well in scheduling, check in. I never have to wait long to be seen and taken back to a patient room and the nurses have been so kind. I love that their labs and X-ray are housed in the same building so it's a simple "one stop shop" for all I need and I'm not left fighting Austin traffic to get another errand done off my medical to do list! I can't say enough about ARC, but it has made me make a point to also go to them for specialized care, such as OB/GYN and Dermatology knowing the care I have received thus far. read more

I was the last appointment on a Friday evening, and it couldn't be more clear they were rushing me out the door. My care suffered, and many people were exposed to strep, as a result. I explained to staff and the doctor that I was getting on a flight early the next morning, so I wanted to obtain any necessary medication that night if at all possible. The doctor did a hurried exam and said it's probably a virus. I asked if there were a possibility that it could be something treatable by antibiotics, such as strep. He said "yes, there's a chance." I had to ask what the chance was (1 in 4) and ask for a strep test. They were ready to send me on my way. I was told I would be called that night with the results of the test. I should have known this was a bad sign, as rapid strep test results only take a few minutes. ARC was in a rush to be done with work for the night. In fact, as I was walking to my car, several ARC employees had already beaten me to the parking lot. Nobody from ARC called me with test results that night. I called their 24 hour hotline to try to get them, and the nurse told me she didn't have access to them. The next day, I found out I had strep when I got off my 3 hour plane ride and had a message from the pharmacy telling me my prescription was ready. ARC didn't even bother to call me with the results, they simply phoned in a prescription the next day. A prescription that I couldn't pick up because, as they knew, I was getting on a flight the next day. I later found out that an ARC employee had received my strep test results the night before, and simply not called me. As a result, one family member got strep, and who knows how many other people were exposed, because I didn't have the chance to start antibiotics that night. read more

Dr. Rezaei was our pediatrician for over a year before we moved out of state. As a first time mom, I strongly recommend him! He has great EQ and IQ, caught things early and notified us as needed. He is thoughtful and always remembered details about my child and our family. read more

We had a really long wait, despite having an appointment. We were there for at least an hour to an hour and a half before we saw our doctor. I saw people leaving while we sat there. The employees we encountered were friendly. HOWEVER, we were not going to leave. We've had trouble finding a good pediatrician in the area and I was convinced that this had to be it. Dr. Goodman IS WONDERFUL. He apologized for the wait and said it's usually not like this. He then spent a thorough amount of time addressing ALL of our concerns with our son, who has alopecia. When we spoke of whether we needed a certain vaccine that had been ignored by a previous doctor, he NEVER pressured us. This went with labs as well. We felt ZERO pressure from Dr. Goodman, not even subtle hints. Whether it was talking about my son's alopecia, vaccines or wanting to request lab work. I am about to have my second child and I really hope I can stick with Dr. Goodman with her as well. When you find a good pediatrician, stick with them and we're sticking with Dr. Goodman :) 5 STARS for Dr. Goodman! read more

They truly want to take CARE of you and get you fast care. Between the fast service and quality cleanliness it's hard to beat. Well prices even without insurance and you need a quick visit. We have always had positive experiences with all the doctors within the ARC network. I guess we started paying special attention when we had a baby and had our first experience with a pediatrician. We absolutely love Dr. Austin. She's good at listening to our questions and explaining things so that we know what to expect and also her bed side manner is always reassuring. Our little girl has had to make more visits to the doctor than we like, but we are always reassured that we did the right thing by bringing her in. We feel very fortunate to have such a great healthcare network (our GPs, OBGYNs, allergist, etc) so close to where we live. read more

I had a nasal infection back in January. It reoccurred so I came in again for the same antibiotics I had the last time which worked great. I was thought I'd be seeing the same doctor again. Instead I was "treated" by Dr. Stewart Browning. I told the doctor I was back for the same affliction and simply needed another prescription. Rather than looking over my previous chart he asked me some questions. I was feeling rather poorly and told him that everything he needed to know was in my chart. He copped a bad attitude because I suggested he look at my records, it was all there. He turned his back toward me and ignored me. Then after a moment or two, he bluntly told me over his shoulder that he'll have a prescription called in for me. Then continued to ignore me as I left. What is the point of filling out endless forms, having a P.A. type them into the computer if the doctor isn't going to bother to read them? Well first of all can I start off by saying Thank God I have a PPO Medical Plain, and I can go where I want to and do NOT need A REFFERAL! This place is my last resort when it's after hours and I'm not going to ER. But not going back again to same person EVER IF NEEDED.. Only one male Doctor who has compassion and knows what the heck he is doing! The female Doctor's just do not get it, where has health care gone? Compassion just a little please, I did get my way! They were at the top of the list until they decided not to accept any insurance policies that are available on the Healthcare.gov website. According to their website ,only PPO's. Kinda leaves a lot of people looking for another doctor, including me. Shame on them. read more

The phlebotomists at this clinic are some of the best I've experienced in 40 years in Austin. I have small veins, so if an inexperienced technician tries and fails to draw my blood, it can be as traumatic for them as it is uncomfortable for me. If you have small veins, you're used to just being patient while they poke and prod ("Let's try the other arm?") etc, while you just take a breath and hope for the best. I went in last week and sat down as Bianca prepped me and inserted the needle on the first try and within seconds it was over and I was rolling down my sleeve. I said, "You're amazing!" and I meant it. read more
