The guy at the counter taking our order was friendly, courteous, and passionate about sandwiches!…read moreLove that he gave us his recommendations and described each of the menu items in detail when we asked. The food was simple and delicious with house-made soups, sides and dressings. I thoroughly enjoyed the tomato soup and though I'm typically not a pasta salad fan, thought theirs was great (made with a ranch based dressing rather than Italian dressing style). Located in a retro shopping center, so it's a little hard to find at first. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and easy to get in and out. Highly recommend!

This was a huge project for a local business. The food was simple burgers , chicken sandwich BBQ hot dogs chips fries and can soda. A speciality day on one of the Saturday's that was to be a hearty meatloaf mashed potatoes and green beans. The workers for the truck were not available most evening or night shift hours and 5 of the 11 days they just did not bother to show up for any shift. So poorly executed for the men and women of the project that just wanted a hot meal. Do not book this food truck..... if you do get it in writing the exact times of availability and prices from the menu and all selections. Really poor service. Do not recommend.

This business also sells bagged Texas tamales, of which this Mexican girl bought several. And the flavor did NOT disappoint, what a surprise to find authenticity so far from home. From the creaky wood floors to a worn Chesterfield sofa, this place has character and history. The owner and his wife were incredibly kind, accommodating, and down to earth people. My breve was tasty and they had options to serve my dietary restrictions. There's a general store in the back with toiletries in stock and other necessities for those who may be visiting from out of town. Even the beautifully unique bathroom design left an imprint on my mind. I can't wait to go back again and try more items on the menu!

Nice place and friendly service worth a visit and a re-visit…read more Open for about a month, The Trading Post offers coffee, tea, treats, and basic grocery options for downtown residents. It even offers its own locally grown and butchered gourmet beef at truly reasonable prices. A century ago, the space was a car dealership. For the last few decades, it sat idle as a warehouse for a remarkable collection of antique automobiles. It's a mixed coffee shop and storefront vibe with mixed tables and comfy couch seating. Coffee, non-alcholic specialty drinks, soft drinks, pastries, and grab & go meals are available at the bar. General grocery items of snack foods, meats, bread, and eggs are available to serve downtown residents. Visitors will notice the unmistakable motor-oiled perfume smell of that era. It's the aroma of every internal combustion engine made for most of the twentieth century. That scent graced every garage and driveway in the world before engine seal technology advanced through the 1980s and 1990s. The fragrance may follow you home like Great Grandpa's old oil slinger. Nostalgia does that from time to time.

It's in Lexington, home of VMI, and the shop itself is diagonal from a post office built in 1911 with large columns lining its edifice. Sometimes, when college students leave great reviews, that means good food that isn't too expensive. True here, especially for what you get: generous servings on amazing bakery breads. I had the "Sorry Charlie" on a slice of focaccia -- topped with tomato slices and melted cheese and a satisfyingly crunchy, warm crust, with a simple but nicely refreshing black bean and corn salad. Dessert treats are also worth a splurge. The people couldn't be friendlier with customers of all ages enjoying themselves. (And they have a coffee bar. And a "speakeasy"!)

I also got The Yardbird sandwich after the server recommended it. It's basically just chicken salad and lettuce between a ciabatta roll, but it was simple and great. And what the heck: I can't visit a bakery that has multiple sweets without getting one. I also listened to the advice of the server when she recommended the orange scone. She was right again! It was tender and tasted like a Froot Loop. Blue Sky is located on the corner of a busy street. There are lots of tables, but if you can, sit at the bar that looks out onto the street to see the hustling and bustling college town.
