Yes. it was the first day and believe me I remember first days when it comes to Taco Bell. I do…read morenot remember the year, but I Do remember the first day of Taco Bell in the Plaza at the end right past what used to be the Butler Mall. I still have the Bullwinkle shirt where I ate 80 tacos in a week and I will remember THAT forever.
So today, driving home, and yep, I see a dancing sauce packet outside and heck, I mean, the time and energy these folks are putting in, I HAVE TO STOP - first day of a Taco Bell, it is like old times sake!
I pulled in parking lot full of cars, and it seemed the new associates were the ones who were taking up the spots today being the first day. I did notice a nice area with ceiling fans outside for at least 5 families, walked in and noticed how open all is. The VERY first think that tells you this is not your old Taco Bell is the Kiosk right in front of you were you can order, exactly like self checkout in Wal Mart, you can order, pay, everything! I chose to wait and try out the service, and yes, the menu is intimidating.
There are over 15 meals with EVERY combination known to Mexico. And the United States. I wimped out and purchased the Shredded Burrito, the nacho fries and a Skittles Strawberry Freeze . Holy Skittles FREEZE! Imagine a regular ICEE, but double the sugar and twice the cold ( I was trying to hide the brain freeze face I hade 2 miles down the road as everyone looked at me). I seriously swallowed a small bag of sugar as well along the way and No (I was not eating healthy tonight).
The service was fast, my total was 7.00 after I donated.33 to the Taco Bell Foundation (yes, it sounds hysterical, never knew that existed) - and asked for it to go. I liked that they asked for my name, called me by name amaybe 10 minutes max later, and yep, it was very good. Better than I remember a burrito being from tacpo Bell.
The fuirniture was awesome, all were steel and looked like wood, but the benches had twist handles on them - (yes I tried them they all actually worked). They looked great. There was plenty of spaciousness in the eating area, and light colored. It is amazing when I pulled out, (the sauce packet was still dancing) that I actually saw some people along the highway walking to this Taco Bell on its opening day, I was kind of surprised to say the least.
it wasn't the first day I remember over 20 years ago, there was no Bullwinkle Shirt, there was no opportunity to eat 80 tacos in a week (I was over that the first time- redefining the slogan Run for the border)... but this was a new taco Bell era and I do admit it tasted great and did not make me sick like I do after McDonalds or Burger King.
After living in Mexico there is no way, no how this can imitate anything I was gifted in eating in Mexico, but seeing this as almost a little island of itself coming into Harrington, it is welcome !
