List of shops full of life here, lots of places to buy merch for MU (although expensiveeee) We even bumped into The Grinch who deserved an Oscar award for his performance. He even got on FaceTime with my sister Overall the mall has a lot of the standard staples and a rush of people shopping that keeps it alive.

Nickels Arcade is always a must stop for me when I'm in Ann Arbor…read more Located in a small alley near State Street and The Diag, Nickels Arcade offers a cobblestone pathway and numerous local shops that are so incredibly unique. Most shops are closed by 5pm or 7pm so I definitely recommend stopping by early in the day if you can. However, Nickels Arcade is still perfect to stroll by in the evening as well. I wanted to visit Bon Bon, a local chocolate shoppe, but unfortunately they were closed by the time I made it during my most recent visit. I loved that they offered a menu outside so I could still look at what they offered. Another shop I'd like to stop at during my next visit is Comet Coffee. I am always interested in finding new coffee spots and the window art on Comet's window was so inviting! Other shops in the alley include a barbershop, tobacco shop, and various antique shops. Spend an hour strolling through the shops. You won't regret it!

Best way to avoid a traffic jam was shopping! I found things I didn't know I needed and also a lot of professional clothing that I definitely needed. The selection ranged from casual to professional and everything in between. Also found some great shoes! The prices were really good for the value of items. I even bought sunglasses and mascara. They had it all! The only downside is that, imo, there was not enough refreshing of inventory over time. They were great about things I needed to return, but a month later I saw a lot of the same things I had seen on my previous visit. The first visit, you may be blown away, but maybe let some time pass before your next visit to allow for additional inventory. Still love this store for value and designer items! Definitely stop in!

Got an amazing dress to wear as a wedding guest that was heavily on sale and perfectly my size this way once. I don't think it was even out on racks. Also love their beautiful home goods. Also on the pricier end but don't sleep on the sale section. Just got an absolutely adorable serving dish and plate set for a great price. This location is in a nice plaza with a lot of other retail and dining options. Parking lot is always a little crazy but there's the additional space kind of behind the store (next to it technically) if the main lot out front is full.

This has a lot of stores I love, but the parking here stinks!…read more I like this Whole Foods in particular- I go there often for the deals on wine and the food samples they always put out. I also think they have a great selection of fancy kitchen gadgets and once bought about a third of my Christmas gifts in their kitchenware section. But parking there is almost always a pain. The same for trying to meet someone for lunch at Panera. Over on the side near Barnes and Nobles, parking is usually a little better, but there are times (usually near holidays) when there's literally not one open parking spot in the entire shopping center.

This is the strip mall on Washtenaw that serves as an appetizer to the much larger and more annoying Arborland, about .5 miles, or up to 20 minutes in heavy traffic, up the road. Its main draws are Barnes & Noble, Panera, and Whole Foods. It also has a Walgreen's, a Qdoba, a home fitness equipment store, a tanning place, a yoga place, and a video game store. There is not enough parking, and a lot of bottlenecking around the Whole Foods entrance. I have had many an altercation with annoying middle-aged ladies who think they know how to drive better than me. Maybe they do, in a Whole Foods parking lot.

I said excuse me, can I ask you a question she turned around and walked away I said, excuse me, and walk towards the front 3 to 4 more times she completely ignore me. I asked another employee is there a manager here and they stated she was the manager completely rude and unprofessional, so I would not recommend. I asked another employee how do I file a complaint. Moreover, before this location moved a few doors down I walked into the old location a few days before they completely moved and it was 90% empty. I asked a lady at the front counter wow what happened she got an attitude and pointed to the moving sign that I didn't see posted on the back wall and turned her hea. This is a pattern of rudeness, unprofessionalism and terrible customer service. I have shopped at Marshalls for 15 years buying dress pants for work but I will not return again and make sure my friends and family do the same.

The post office: Sorry, but I've had mediocre experiences with the service…read more For one, they lost TWO packages that I mailed from there via media mail. TWO PACKAGES. The first one disappeared, and then the envelope came back torn, dirty and EMPTY (minus the book that I had mailed) about a month later. The second one is still missing (along with the pricey book inside). When I called to ask about both books, they were unhelpful and apathetic and basically said there was nothing they could do about it. I've had to refund the money from both of the textbooks I sold, which was pretty upsetting. So, if you ever mail ANYTHING from here, make sure you get delivery confirmation and/or insurance. Secondly, the lines are super-long most of the time, and you will need to find your wrapping/packaging materials and do all the packaging yourself before you get up to the counter. Also, if you don't buy priority packaging, they don't have any tape that you can use, and the guy at the counter gave me a little speech about it when I tried to use some of the "Priority" tape.. So, I would advise doing all packaging before you come here - and bring your own tape. To be fair, it's a busy place, and the two women who work there generally tried to be helpful to me. Still, if I wasn't a captive audience, I would try to go somewhere else where they didn't lose my packages.

Except the Post Office space at the back, the whole building has been deteriorating for years. Sometimes they don't even bother to turn the lights on. The only reason I'm in there is to mail something or buy stamps. The News article reports that "the building owners will invest at least $250,000 to upgrade the building" -- I wonder if this will be enough to make it decent. It's always appeared to me that they could take some advantage of the open space outside the back adjacent to the parking structure. Doesn't sound as if they've thought of this.
