They are very happy with their decision, as is our entire family. My Dad started in Independent Living, which is like a luxury five star hotel with stacked amenities and a beautiful dining room and common areas, and my Mom started in Assisted Living, which is very similar to Independent, but includes nursing staff on call 24/7. After a year, my Mom rotated to Memory Care and my Dad to Assisted Living. Thus far, the staff has been very attentive and it is an ideal residence for eldery parents. The other reisdents are very friendly and they have engagning programming, such as live music performances, and other activities. The food is also top notch. Amy, the supervisor, works hard to make sure everyone is satisfied. Highly recommended.

Now, imagine that for the rest of your life you are living in the internationally renowned city of Naples, Florida in a beautifully landscaped, gated, 156 acre Continuing Care Retirement Community with luxurious living accommodations ,top rated health care facilities providing excellent care for all your future needs and, yes, one of the finest 18 hole par 3 golf courses in the state of Florida. Bentley Village is all of that and much more! One of the many highlights of my 12 year residency at Bentley Village has been watching senior golfers who have either quit or are considering quitting because regulation size golf courses no longer fit their needs. When they come to Bentley Village they discover that our beautiful course is challenging but senior friendly, free and can be played in two and a half hours. They also enjoy the natural preserve areas, multiple ponds and abundant wildlife during their round of golf. In addition, they will be impressed with our short game practice facilities and 2 state of the art indoor simulators. Golf lessons are also available by our very competent golf professionals. Living at a retirement community like Bentley Village will add many years to your life and additional joy to your years! Come see for yourself. Jerry Weis Bentley Resident

Although we were still in good health, it was difficult to leave our home and the daily interactions with friends, but we wanted to enjoy maintenance-free living and ease the burden of worry for our children.  After exploring inclusive communities, we chose Bentley Village. After 10 months of living here we know we have made the right decision. It's truly a village! The many amenities include an 18-hole golf course, bocce, tennis, croquet, resort and lap pools, fitness center, an art studio, various activity clubs, a large library, movie theater, and four restaurants. The most important feature is the residents and staff. Many people have reached out to us to join them for dinner, golf, and other activities. The staff is a fantastic group of friendly and caring people who always go the extra mile with a smile. Truly a welcoming community!

Plain and simple: the level of care provided here is not commensurate with the exorbitant costs…read more After a brief hospital stay and at the recommendation of a physician, an elderly male relative was placed in their skilled nursing section. We chose this location partially because of prior experience with the facility (a different relative receiving rehabilitation services years ago) and partially because this was the only location that had an opening at the time. During the 3-month period that this male relative was here, he experienced two severe falls. The second fall required a trip to the emergency room, and even though a POA was on file, no relative was notified of this until a visit to him 7 hours after the incident revealed an empty room. He was not dressed when taken to the ER (they actually brought him clothed only in his underwear). Staff knew nothing of the whereabouts of his eyeglasses, despite the fact that he literally cannot see without them. Multiple demands for the reason for non-notification yielded responses that the facility was short-staffed or that staff was not "required" to notify the relative who has POA. When pressed about the whereabouts of his eyeglasses, we were told that they weren't in his room and, after all, he didn't have them the day before - yikes! We had to drive from the ER back to Renaissance at The Terraces to attempt to locate them, only to find the glasses literally on the floor next to his bed - and his bed had been completely stripped. We're lucky that the glasses weren't stepped on and crushed! Absolutely unacceptable. Upon his return from the ER, wounds he received as a result of the fall failed to heal appropriately. We would tend to these wounds, but since this was the skilled nursing section of the facility, it was our belief that staff should have been tending to them as well. We watched this relative sink deeper and deeper into depression, as he clearly wasn't feeling well and nearly the only human interaction he had was when he had family visiting him. During the multiple times I personally was there, not once did any staff member whatsoever ever set foot in his room. Also, absolutely unacceptable. Even though a large sign was placed in the room stating that "Family does laundry," multiple times personal items went missing because they were laundered at the facility. This required us to literally hound the supervisor to locate these items, which eventually showed back up in his room several days later with no explanation. I subsequently spent to the good part of an afternoon in his room hand sewing name labels on every piece of personal clothing or blankets in his possession. Part of the issues here are a result of our inability to speak or understand Creole. It's a true liability when a patient (or their family) cannot communicate with nurses and aides that are entrusted with their care. As soon as we were able to locate another facility, we moved him. He has improved by leaps and bounds, gained some weight, is walking and exercising regularly and socializing with others. What a transformation - all because we REMOVED him from Renaissance at The Terraces. If you believe your relative will receive top-notch care here due to the high cost of residence, you should reconsider your decision. In my opinion, this facility is an institutional setting with a pretty foyer that in reality provides sub-par, insufficient and inadequate care.

It was much less that I had hoped for and even less for what I'd expected. In no particular order I will give details of the horrors you might expect. Keep in mind that for an older person with terminal issues this might have been much better, but I was probably the youngest in the facility and only needed P.T., not nursing. I had a multiple-occupancy room (read semi-private, two patients) that had a TV each but both TVs were controlled with the same coded remote. When I would turn mine off or on or changed the channel or volume level, his would change, too, and vice-versa. It had a bathroom much smaller that any Motel 6 I'd even been in. It had belt-sander quality toilet paper. And there was no shower... only a bi-weekly schedule to go down to the "spa" always with a nurse or assistant who did their best impression of Nurse Rachet (controlling the shower hose, freezing temps, dumping handfuls of shampoo on my hair, all while seated in one of their rolling PVC shower seats. I am not a xenophobe, but when all of the staff speaks loud Creole in your presence and only barely try to speak English when they address you, I find it disturbing and off-putting. The P.T. "gym" looked more like an adult kindergarten, including match-the-shape games. The silicone rubber bands they used for muscle-strengthening made me think that I was in Joe's Garage and Kindergarten. The staff seemed more interested in whistling to 80's tunes or talking about their next meal plans than focusing on the P.T. The entire facility reminded me of a stalog; it took the door code of the day to exit a door to the outside. This might be effective against dementia patients wandering off, but I was clearly with all of my senses and it would have been nice to sit for awhile outdoors listening to the quite sounds of traffic... It took the kitchen/nutrition staff 9 days to finally get my food orders correct. I make the majority of my meals fresh and raw. So instead of blindly opting in for the lemmings' fare of heated canned food, I spent entirely too much time getting them to make me salads and sandwiches. And why are we still wearing traditional hospital gowns? It made more sense back when most of our medicines were hypodermics in the buttocks, but they have got to go. They provide no protection, they never fit, and the ties get knotted up. My assigned doctor was on vacation when I was admitted and never returned during my 10-day visit. Their inter-departmental communications were horrible, with me often repeating the same set of information to many staff members who should have shared it. I hope this will guide you towards selecting a better nursing home/rehab experience than I had.
