Well, I just got out of a 10-day stay at this nursing home which I attended strictly for the…read morePhysical Therapy rehabilitation. It was much less that I had hoped for and even less for what I'd expected. In no particular order I will give details of the horrors you might expect. Keep in mind that for an older person with terminal issues this might have been much better, but I was probably the youngest in the facility and only needed P.T., not nursing. I had a multiple-occupancy room (read semi-private, two patients) that had a TV each but both TVs were controlled with the same coded remote. When I would turn mine off or on or changed the channel or volume level, his would change, too, and vice-versa. It had a bathroom much smaller that any Motel 6 I'd even been in. It had belt-sander quality toilet paper. And there was no shower... only a bi-weekly schedule to go down to the "spa" always with a nurse or assistant who did their best impression of Nurse Rachet (controlling the shower hose, freezing temps, dumping handfuls of shampoo on my hair, all while seated in one of their rolling PVC shower seats. I am not a xenophobe, but when all of the staff speaks loud Creole in your presence and only barely try to speak English when they address you, I find it disturbing and off-putting. The P.T. "gym" looked more like an adult kindergarten, including match-the-shape games. The silicone rubber bands they used for muscle-strengthening made me think that I was in Joe's Garage and Kindergarten. The staff seemed more interested in whistling to 80's tunes or talking about their next meal plans than focusing on the P.T. The entire facility reminded me of a stalog; it took the door code of the day to exit a door to the outside. This might be effective against dementia patients wandering off, but I was clearly with all of my senses and it would have been nice to sit for awhile outdoors listening to the quite sounds of traffic... It took the kitchen/nutrition staff 9 days to finally get my food orders correct. I make the majority of my meals fresh and raw. So instead of blindly opting in for the lemmings' fare of heated canned food, I spent entirely too much time getting them to make me salads and sandwiches. And why are we still wearing traditional hospital gowns? It made more sense back when most of our medicines were hypodermics in the buttocks, but they have got to go. They provide no protection, they never fit, and the ties get knotted up. My assigned doctor was on vacation when I was admitted and never returned during my 10-day visit. Their inter-departmental communications were horrible, with me often repeating the same set of information to many staff members who should have shared it. I hope this will guide you towards selecting a better nursing home/rehab experience than I had.

After calling my primary care doctor he suggested I go to the ER right away. Had it not been for Dr. Scott that blood clot could have broken loose and killed me! Dr. Scott is an excellent chiropractor and always makes me feel welcome and knows how to adjust my neck and back like a true professional. He takes his time with you and truly cares about his patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Scott Weiland!

There isn't a no star option…read more This is a medicaid convalescent center and nothing more. The treatment I received was "below standard" according to my Home Health professional. There were limited rehab beds available upon my discharge from the hospital and I was placed here by default. Post surgery admittance with large wound care necessary. I arrived with an order for it to be changed 2xday. They chose to change the bandage once a day, and one time didn't do it for 28 hours. One night I got up and had fluids running down my leg. They puddled on the floor. An aide came in, saw the puddle, and walked out. I mopped it up with a towel. My arrival was around 7:30 in the evening. Other than my IV antibiotic, I was told my meds would not be available until the morning. The bed was an air bed that didn't inflate. They said they'd fix it in the morning. They did end up moving me to another bed that was not much better. The bathroom was filthy, even a dirty toilet. Under the soap dispenser, the wall had extensive (old) streaks from soap and water. I asked the aid for a commode but she didn't understand. Once it came, I had already soiled my shorts. The commode had rusty legs that shedding rust on the floor. The call buttons are vintage. They sit on your bed. I rolled on it and an aide appeared. I apologized for the mistake. When I did it a second time, she came in and threw the call button, tethered with the bed control, on the floor and left. The next morning I told my wound nurse I was uncomfortable there. She said she understood and they "do the best with what we've got". She had an administrator come see me who agreed they would move me to another room and asked to give them a few days. They really made an effort to clean the new room. The housekeeping director even inspected the work and called the housekeeper back in and pointed out areas needing attention. I question how things can get so dirty and wonder what would have happened otherwise. The new room overlooked a nice courtyard I expected I'd visit. Shortly after being moved in, a parade of wheelchair, walker, and cane based residents showed up and started smoking cigarettes. It was a smoking lounge! I found out later they had designated smoking hours. At a rehab! I was being treated for infection. The place is truly filthy. Some nurses didn't sterilize my picc line before injections. And didn't flush it afterward. One night without my call being answered, waiting for a picc line flush, I walked the whole first floor calling "anyone here? Any nurses?" The WHOLE floor, including going in open offices, the kitchen, and employee lounge. Nothing until returning to my room and seeing 2 staff pop out of a door and laugh at me. I asked them if this way funny and they returned behind closed doors. The nurse then appeared from a door at the other end of the hall with an aid in tow. He said he was doing rounds. All the walking caused my foot brace to come apart. It's to be worn all the time and they had no tools or ability to repair it. Their doctor came to see me Sunday for the first time since arriving Tuesday. He knew I wanted to leave and said he'd sign discharge papers. They weren't able to arrange home services until Tuesday, and I went home. They didn't let Home Health know I had antibiotics being delivered for a 2:00 pm injection so Home Health didn't come until Wednesday, a visit the day after is standard. Fortunately, I had already administered my own IV and was able to do it myself. Not that food matters much to me, the menu and what was served only matched once, and the quality is not good. They had no cream for coffee 3 times during my 7 day stay. They ran out of milk. My wound was worse when I left than when I arrived. I changed my own dressing upon arriving home. After home health care and my own efforts, it's improved substantially. Now I'm anxiously awaiting placement in a suitable rehab. After my first home visit, kudos to Family Home Health Services for taking the initiative to place me in a suitable facility. Rosie and Samantha are truly my life savers. There are some staff worth praising. Weekend day nurse Andrea and wound care Victoria - when she did the dressings. Eboni got me out! This place is truly "bad". DON'T DO IT.

Today two veteran CNAs , one the lead CNA weekdays and another there alot were changing my mother's…read moreunderwear in bed. She is 100 years old and in memory care unit. Come on!!? Two of the three window blinds smack dab in front of the bed and facing a sidewalk were WIDE OPEN!!! GEEZ. CNA 101... respect the resident and close the window blinds prior to undressing the resident!!! Duh!! Moorings Park...this is NOT the first time I have witnessed this. Once at night I was walking around the building and bcz CNAs neglected to shut the blinds for the elderly lady in memory care and shut the bathroom door... she was seen on the toilet. Nice job Chateau CNAs!! Maybe learn to pay attention to details. You have a job at a highly ranked Skilled Nursing Center. And Memory Care residents and their families expect much better.

If all you need is PT, then this place is good. For nursing care, doctor care and aide care forget…read moreit except for the 7am-3pm shift M-F. Thereafter things deteriorate to worse to completely unacceptable . If you have no food intolerances or special needs, the food is all made fresh; but if you do, good luck. They made too many blunders and injuries to list in one month of stay. I left to get home health care regardless of the cost.

She always responded to my texts/calls--both night and day. She continued to reach out with sincere concern and compassion for my parents and their situation(even though she herself was trying to navigate the aftermath of the hurricane on behalf of her own family and business). I am forever grateful for my parents' safety. Additionally, I am grateful for people like Genny who remained connected with me during an extremely stressful and frightening time.
